From WTT Traveler to Tour Leader
June 2026
In 2016, I was trying to regain some sense of “normal” after my husband passed away unexpectedly. I wanted to travel but I needed to reinvent what travel would now look like for me and find a safe way to do it solo. I turned to Google and found Women Traveling Together.
I went all in, signing up for a heli-hiking trip in Canada’s Bugaboo Mountains thinking, if I was going to do this, I would “do it big.”
Twelve women, each with their own personal reason for being there, supported one another on this adventure of a lifetime. We learned how to “hot load” a helicopter, woke early for morning stretches, tramped on glaciers, and hiked through landscapes that resembled scenes from The Sound of Music. With each deep cleansing breath I took, I realized this was exactly what I needed to move forward.

I was hooked after just one trip.
That supportive and rejuvenating experience gave me the confidence to come out of my shell and venture out on my own. I started to travel solo—both with and without WTT—and was blessed with a few dear friends I made along the way. I never tire of immersing myself in the unique character of a destination, and I always come away better for having had the experience.
When something has such a meaningful impact on your life, you want to shout it out and share it.
As luck and timing would have it, I have gone from being a newly solo traveler to becoming a WTT Tour Leader. I am in awe that I now share my love of travel with other women by leading tours.
Like me, some of these women are trying to find their sense of “normal” after the loss of a spouse. I am privileged to share how WTT helped me move forward and discover an amazing, new “normal” I could have never imagined.
I am truly a poster girl for Women Traveling Together.
