Welcome to Budapest, one of Eastern Europe's most beautiful cities! Arrive no later than 3:00pm. Group transfers will be provided based on arrival times. The tour begins at 6:00pm in the lobby of our hotel. We will make introductions and then enjoy a Welcome Dinner to get better acquainted. Overnight Budapest - 2 nights
Tuesday, 22 June 2027: Budapest City Tour; Thermal Baths; Danube Cruise (B,L)
Today we explore Budapest, a magnificent city of two halves—hilly Buda and flat Pest—straddling the Danube River. We begin with a walking tour along the riverbanks and cross the historic Chain Bridge before riding the iconic funicular up Castle Hill. This limestone plateau holds the city's crown jewels, including the grand Buda Castle and the panoramic terraces of Fisherman's Bastion. We visit a famous Strudel House for a coffee break and see the art of strudel making that only great masters can prepare perfectly. This afternoon is spent relaxing in the therapeutic waters of the Széchenyi Baths. Our day concludes with a spectacular evening cruise along the Danube, watching the glowing Houses of Parliament reflect against the night sky.
Wednesday, 23 June 2027: Eger Castle; Valley of the Beautiful Women; Wine Tasting & Tour (B,L,O)
Admire the rolling countryside as we travel to Eger, a historic gem known to many as the "Hungarian Rome" for its stunning architecture, defensive castle walls, and world-class red wines. We begin with a walking tour through the vibrant main square, taking in the city’s rich history on our way to the iconic Eger Castle. Built in the 11th century, this legendary hilltop fortress is famous for heroically withstanding a massive Ottoman siege in 1552. After taking in panoramic views from the medieval ramparts, we wind our way back down to the city, passing Europe's northernmost Ottoman minaret. This afternoon, we head to the Valley of the Beautiful Women, a unique valley home to dozens of historic wine cellars. Here, you can sample the region's robust, celebrated red blend, Egri Bikaver—familiarly known as Bull’s Blood. We have the opportunity to visit a local winery for a tour and a tasting before arriving to our hotel late this afternoon. Overnight Eger - 1 night
Thursday, 24 June 2027: Fly to Brasov, Romania; Brasov City Tour (B,D)
We are up early this morning for our flight to Romania. We begin in Brasov, a city nestled within a dramatic Carpathian Mountain setting and rich with beautifully preserved medieval Saxon history. As the ultimate gateway to Transylvania, Brasov offers an enchanting step back in time. Upon arrival, we set out on an afternoon walking tour of the historic city center. Stroll through the vibrant Council Square, pass the ancient Clock Tower, and walk down the famously narrow Rope Street to admire the town's old fortified walls. Visit the monumental Black Church, a striking Gothic landmark originally named Saint Mary's Church; it was renamed after a devastating fire in 1689 swept through the interior and permanently blackened its exterior walls and roofs. While exploring the church, we also discover the intriguing local legend behind the mysterious statue of the boy standing on the roof. Tonight, we enjoy dinner together. Overnight Brasov - 4 nights
Friday, 25 June 2027: Bear Sanctuary; Free Afternoon (B)
Our morning excursion into the countryside takes us to the Libearty Bear Sanctuary. As the largest brown bear sanctuary in the world, it spans 69 hectares of lush forest and serves as a peaceful haven for over 130 rescued brown bears. The sanctuary provides an environment as close to their natural habitat as possible, offering a second chance at life for bears that survived years of captivity and for orphaned cubs unable to survive in the wild. Every bear here has a history that began with suffering. Before their rescue, many of them had never known what it meant to climb a tree, seek shade from the sun on scorching days, or enjoy water deep enough to splash around in. Led by an expert guide, we follow a gentle forest trail to view these majestic animals in their habitat. We return to Brasov this afternoon and you are free to explore as you wish. Your Tour Leader will have suggestions.
Saturday, 26 June 2027: Peles Castle; Dracula's Castle; Folkloric Dinner (B,D)
Today begins with a scenic drive through the Carpathian Mountains to Peles Castle, widely considered one of the most stunning castles in Europe and a breathtaking masterpiece of German Neo-Renaissance architecture. Next, we travel deep into Transylvanian lore with a visit to the iconic Bran Castle, famously known as Dracula’s Castle, where we explore its mysterious winding staircases and medieval towers. After immersing ourselves in the region's rich history and myths, we return to Brasov late in the afternoon. We regroup this evening to cap off the day with an authentic folkloric dinner. This lively evening features favorite Romanian dishes and a vibrant performance of traditional folk dances and live music.
Sunday, 27 June 2027: Sighisoara Tour; Transylvanian Cooking Class (B,L)
Discover the fairytale architectural heritage on our walking tour of Sighisoara, a living hilltop community that feels completely frozen in time. A stroll through the town's hilly streets—with their original historic architecture, magical mix of winding cobbled alleys, steep stairways, secluded squares, towers, and turrets—is like stepping straight back into a storybook. We wander past the historic Lepers' Church and the venerable Monastery Church. We admire the iconic 14th-century Clock Tower and the grand Church on the Hill. Later, we travel to the historic village of Medias, where we dive into local traditions with an interactive Transylvanian cooking class. Together, we learn the artisan secrets behind making authentic traditional dishes before enjoying our creations for lunch. We return to Brasov late this afternoon.
Monday, 28 June 2027: Snagov Monastery; Travel to Bucharest; Dimitrie Gusti National Village Museum (B)
We bid farewell to Transylvania and head toward Bucharest, stopping first at the Snagov Monastery. Situated on a peaceful island in the center of a scenic lake, this historic 14th-century sanctuary is shrouded in mystery as the alleged final resting place of Vlad the Impaler, the historic inspiration for Dracula. Our journey continues to the Dimitrie Gusti National Village Museum, an expansive open-air park spanning over 30 acres on the scenic shores of Lake Herastrau. Here, the historic Romanian rural life comes alive through an incredible collection of steep-roofed peasant homes, thatched barns, log cabins, churches, and watermills. Each authentic structure was carefully dismantled in its home region, transported to Bucharest, and meticulously rebuilt to faithfully recreate a traditional village setting. Overnight Bucharest - 2 nights
Tuesday, 29 June 2027: Bucharest City Tour; Palace of Parliament, Farewell Dinner (B,D)
Today we explore Bucharest! We begin our day at the monumental Palace of the Parliament, the towering governmental seat of Romania. This colossal structure is recognized as the largest civilian administrative building in the world—ranking second overall only to the US Pentagon. The building is also celebrated by the Guinness Book of World Records as both the heaviest building on the planet and the most expensive administrative building ever constructed. Afterward, we visit the Primaverii Palace, the former private residence of Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceausescu. This 80-room mansion was home to the family for decades and, while elegantly understated from the outside, the interior features an eccentric design often described as "neoclassical kitsch," famously complete with gold-plated bathroom fixtures. Tonight, we share a Farewell Dinner together.
Wednesday, 30 June 2027: Depart Bucharest (B)
Sadly, our adventure has come to an end. Schedule your return flight at your convenience. The WTT Tour Director will organize ride-sharing to the airport based on departure times.

What clothing and items should I pack for this trip?
In general the temperature, rainfall and humidity levels vary based on the time of the year. We suggest you monitor weather apps before you depart for the most current information.
For This Trip You May Want—
- Shoes that are comfortable for walking
- Refillable water bottle
- Smart-casual wear if you'd like to dress up a bit for dinners
- Lightweight but warm jacket/sweater for the cool mornings and evenings or the unusually brisk day
- Inexpensive rain poncho or travel umbrella, just in case
Good Packing Habits—
- Bring what you need to get a good night's sleep, such as ear plugs, white noise generator, sleeping aids, etc. Unfamiliar noises of all types can disrupt your rest.
- Pack a limited amount of comfortable, casual clothing that layer and coordinate. Your fellow travelers will not mind or even notice – seeing you in the same clothing.
- Bring only two pairs of everyday shoes: one pair of well-broken-in walking shoes, and a second pair that could do double-duty as a walking shoe or a slightly dressy shoe.
- Pare down your beauty regimen to the bare minimum and always pack travel-sized toiletries.
- Pack medication in your carry-on and pack only as much as needed for the duration of your tour plus a few extra days as a precaution.
What are the luggage restrictions for this tour?
On every WTT tour, our policies regarding luggage restrictions are driven by the physical space limitations of the vehicles we use, the requirement that all travelers be able to manage their own belongings without assistance and the restrictions imposed by other forms of transportation such as [trains and small planes].
- It is best to travel as lightly as possible. Most travelers regret when they have packed too much.
- You may bring one suitcase plus a carry-on bag.
- We recommend your suitcase be no larger than 26 inches high as measured from the FLOOR to the top of the retracted handle to make it easy for you to handle yourself.
- You are responsible for managing your own belongings. We expect you to take your belongings from the coach to your room and to bring it back to the coach on days we change hotels. We do not provide luggage pulls; they are not safe and are inconvenient.
- Steps exist at most hotel entrances. On occasion the coach must unload passengers and luggage some distance from the hotel entrance.
- Due to limited coach storage, each passenger is permitted one standard-size suitcase to be stored in the coach luggage hold. In addition, passengers may bring one small, soft-sided personal item onboard (such as a handbag or small backpack). Small wheeled cases are not permitted onboard the coach.
What are the phone and internet recommendations for this tour?
Only you can determine your need to stay in contact while traveling.
- You should understand what your current cell phone plan includes in terms of data and minutes. Some, like certain T-Mobile plans, include an international package.
- Contact your cell phone service provider before departing about adding an international calling plan. Most carriers have flat daily rates which will allow your US-based phone to be functional upon arrival in a foreign country.
- Managing data while traveling internationally is important. Using WiFi when available and communicating through apps like WhatsApp help you manage data usage while traveling.Learn how to make an international call BEFORE you leave. Consult your cell provider and check out the website www.HowtoCallAbroad.com.
