Itinerary
Monday, 04 October 2027: Arrive Burlington, VT; Welcome Dinner (D)
Schedule your arrival no later than 4:00pm and take local transportation to the hotel. The tour begins at 6:00PM in the lobby of the hotel. Our Welcome Meeting will be followed by dinner together to get acquainted and discuss our upcoming adventure. Overnight Burlington, VT - 2 nights
Tuesday, 05 October 2027: Ethan Allen Homestead; Shelburne Farms (B,L)
We will step back in time this morning at the Ethan Allen Homestead, a historic house built by the American Revolutionary War patriot and founding father of Vermont. After a casual lunch together, we head a bit south of Burlington to Shelburne Farms, an educational non-profit and diversified working farm, to learn more about the cheddar cheese making process (weather permitting). There are multiple walking trails here providing wonderful views.
Wednesday, 06 October 2027: Forest Canopy Walk; Quechee Gorge Walk; Covered Bridge (B,L)
This morning we depart Burlington on our way to the Vermont Institute of Natural Science to experience a walk of a different kind: the Forest Canopy Walk. This is a great introduction to the outdoors in Vermont. The boardwalk is uniquely built to allow a level walk into the tree canopy. At the highest points, we will be more than 100 feet above the forest floor! Afterward, we head to the nearby Quechee Gorge, known as "Vermont's Little Grand Canyon" and arguably the state's most spectacular natural wonder. While there are beautiful vistas in the gorge from 168 feet above the Ottaquechee River, it's just a 1-mile round-trip hike to the bottom and back. Before settling into our classic Vermont hotel in Woodstock, we'll stop at a covered bridge or two. With more than 100 covered bridges in Vermont––the highest concentration per square mile in the United States––these idyllic wood-lined structures are some of the last links to a simpler era. Overnight Woodstock - 2 nights
Thursday, 07 October 2027: King Arthur Flour Baking Class; Free Time (B)
We put on our aprons today as we participate in a hands-on baking class at the famous King Arthur Baking Company, the first flour company in the young United States, established in 1790 and still a favored product of many home bakers. This afternoon, we'll ride the scenic gondola up Killington Peak. At the top, it's a short, 20-minute hike to the summit if you're so inclined. Otherwise, simply enjoy the stellar views or stop in at the Peak Lodge. There will be free time later to enjoy the many amenities of our hotel. Perhaps you'd like to stroll to the banks of the Ottaquechee River or take a dip in the indoor pool.
Friday, 08 October 2027: Stowe; Hard Cider Tasting; Farewell Dinner (B,D)
We explore charming Stowe today, named as one of "11 Best Small Towns in America." Though Stowe is a world-renowned winter ski destination, it also offers a lot to those who visit in other seasons. We'll also explore more of this area and perhaps encounter a waterfall or two. While Vermonters have been fermenting and drinking alcoholic and non-alcoholic cider since the mid-1600s (hard cider was the drink of choice in Vermont before Prohibition), there has been a resurgence in the last decade, with more than a dozen cideries popping up around the state. We'll enjoy tasting cider at a local cidery and perhaps learn a bit about the fermenting process. We then make our way back to Burlington for our Farewell Dinner this evening. Overnight Burlington - 1 night
Saturday, 09 October 2027: Return Home from Burlington, VT
Sadly, our time together has come to an end. Schedule your departure from Burlington at your convenience.

What do others say about this tour and traveling with WTT?
How Does Room Sharing Work?
On the Reservation Form there are 3 choices regarding room-sharing.
Note: Certain room-types may be unavailable at the time you make your reservation. If a room-type is unavailable the choice will be greyed out.
- Select "Yes, I want to share a room" and WTT will assign you a roommate when Final Travel Instructions are sent.
- You can specify a roommate by entering her name where indicated. If your named roommate is not on the tour, for any reason, WTT will assign you a roommate unless you pay to have your own room, if available.
- Select "No, I do not wish to share a room" if you want to have your own room. Additional costs apply.
- All shared rooms have 2 beds
- All shared rooms are non-smoking
- No special requests about your roommate can be accommodated
- See "Frequently Asked Questions" TAB for more details
How Active is this Tour?

- 65% Moderate (walking over natural terrain and several moderate hikes with short steep sections.)
As a solo traveler you are responsible for yourself, your possessions, your physical fitness, and all other aspects related to participation in the WTT tour you have chosen. Be sure to read the itinerary closely to better understand the physical requirements necessary for the tour.

Learn about your fellow travelers after final payment by visiting MyWTT. Room sharing assignments will be listed in the Final Travel Instructions.
What meals are included and how are dietary restrictions accommodated?
Each day of the itinerary lists the included meals for that day. When a meal is not included, the WTT Tour Leader will have suggestions for where to eat.
You do not have to dine alone unless it is your personal choice. You'll most likely be dining with new acquaintances you've made, or you can join the Tour Leader.

What clothing and items should I pack for this trip?
In general the temperature, rainfall and humidity levels vary based on the time of the year. We suggest you monitor weather apps leading up to the time you depart for the most current information.
For This Trip You May Want—
- Sturdy and comfortable walking shoes
- Smart-casual wear if you'd like to dress up a bit for dinners.
- Warm jacket, such as fleece and windbreaker, for cool mornings and time spent on the water
- Hat and gloves
- Inexpensive rain poncho or rain jacket
- Insect repellent, sunscreen, and sunglasses
- Swimsuit
- Refillable water bottle
- Binoculars
Good Packing Habits—
- Bring what you need to get a good night's sleep, such as ear plugs, white noise generator, sleeping aids, etc. Unfamiliar noises of all types can disrupt your rest.
- Pack a limited amount of comfortable, casual clothing that layer and coordinate. Your fellow travelers will not mind or even notice – seeing you in the same clothing.
- Bring only two pairs of everyday shoes: one pair of well-broken-in walking shoes, and a second pair that could do double-duty as a walking shoe or a slightly dressy shoe.
- Pare down your beauty regimen to the bare minimum and always pack travel-sized toiletries.
- Pack medication in your carry-on and pack only as much as needed for the duration of your tour plus a few extra days as a precaution.
What are the luggage restrictions for this tour?
We will be using the WTT coach on this tour. The luggage restrictions are driven by the physical space limitations and the requirement that travelers manage their belongings.
- It is best to travel as lightly as possible. Most travelers regret when they have packed too much.
- You may bring one suitcase and a day pack or shoulder bag to keep with you in the coach.
- Maximum suitcase size: 22-24 inches in height. This is the size of bag that fits into the overhead bins of aircraft. Suitcases larger than this will not fit properly in the WTT coach; don't bring them.
- The weight of your bag should not exceed 30 pounds as you will need to lift it into the coach luggage compartment.
- You are responsible for managing your own belongings. We expect you to take your belongings from the coach to your room and to bring it back to the coach and load it on days we change hotels. We do not provide luggage pulls; they are not safe and are inconvenient. The possibility of steps exist at most hotel entrances.
How much money should I bring on this tour?
What are the tipping guidelines for this tour?
- You are responsible for tipping waitstaff, porters, or other individuals who provide a service to you at the hotel, or other public locations.
- You may want to tip your WTT Tour Leader for an outstanding job. The amount is entirely a personal preference. If you'd like a guideline, consider $8-$10 per day.
Can I transfer my deposit to another tour?
