Itinerary
Wednesday, 19 May 2027: Arrive Krakow, Poland; Welcome Dinner (D)
Schedule your arrival into Krakow no later than 2:00pm. The tour begins at 5:00pm in the lobby of the hotel with our Welcome Meeting. We'll make introductions and then have dinner together to get acquainted and discuss our upcoming adventure. Overnight Krakow - 4 nights
Thursday, 20 May 2027: Krakow City Tour; Wawel Castle; Klezmer Music with Dinner (B,D)
Krakow is a city wrapped in legend. For centuries, it was the capital of Poland and drew scholars and artists from around the world. Rich in European history, this remarkable city survived World War II nearly unscathed, offering a glimpse of the old world in every direction. Our day begins with a brief walking tour Old Town Krakow to get familiar with the city and its highlights. We then visit the UNESCO-listed Wawel Castle perched high above the Vistula River to learn more about the 1,000+ year history of the Polish Kings and Queens who once lived here. The castle is now home to one of the best art galleries in the country. In the late afternoon, we explore the now lively and charming district of Kazimierz, once the center of Polish Judaism. We'll take a brief walking tour of this historical Jewish Quarter, followed by a traditional Jewish dinner with Klezmer, a genre of Jewish folk music derived from Eastern European culture.
Friday, 21 May 2027: Wieliczka Salt Mine; Free Afternoon; Pierogi Cooking Class with Dinner (B,D)
Today we travel by coach to the UNESCO-listed Wieliczka Salt Mine. For centuries, it was the source of the country's wealth and today it is one of the most popular Polish tourist attractions. Several hundreds of years of rock salt exploitation have shaped the spatial arrangement of its excavated structure and there are now nine levels of labyrinthine passageways, an underground lake, and four chapels among other attractions which we'll discover on a 2-hour walking tour. Be prepared for many steps! We return to Krakow this afternoon and later we'll learn how to prepare iconic pierogi (Polish dumplings) that are both savory and sweet. Of course we will enjoy our creations for dinner together.
Saturday, 22 May 2027: Auschwitz Memorial & Museum; Free Afternoon (B)
This morning will be a sobering one, with a visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum. Our guided tour takes us through the concentration camp, which became the main center for the Nazi's attempt at the mass extermination of all Jews. We return to Krakow late afternoon and the rest of the day is yours to spend as you wish. Consider a visit to Market Square or a walk along the the streets of Old Town to visit shops and cafes. Your Tour Leader will have suggestions for things to do.
Sunday, 23 May 2027: Travel to High Tatras; Traditional Wedding Lunch with Costumes; Cable Car (B,L)
We leave Poland today to travel south to the High Tatras, a mountainous area of Slovakia. We'll stop in the mountain village of Zdiar to learn about the inhabitants and their unique way of life. We will also participate in a traditional Slovakian wedding re-enactment. Costumes will be provided so we can dress the part and learn the wedding custom of the veil being passed on to another unmarried lady. This culminates in a traditional Slovak wedding luncheon and is a wonderfully fun way to gain a glimpse of the culture. Our final destination is Tatranska Lomnica, a small alpine-like resort town at the base of the High Tatras, the highest range of the Carpathians. We'll enjoy a cable car ride for expansive views of the High Tatras. The remainder of the afternoon and evening are free for you to enjoy the beautiful scenery and perhaps relax in the hotel spa (at own expense). Overnight High Tatras - 1 night
Monday, 24 May 2027: Dairy Farm Cheese Tasting; Lunch in Trencin; Travel to Brno, Czechia (B,L,O)
Our final destination today is the Czech Republic but we are taking the scenic route. We'll stop at Salas Krajinka, a sheep farm specializing in dairy products, to tour the property and learn how sheep breeding and traditional methods of cheese making have been passed down through generations. From here, we continue on to Trencin, a city near the Czech border, to enjoy lunch. We continue on to Brno, which is somewhat off-the-beaten path in comparison to Prague. It is famous for its massive 13th-century castle. Upon arriving to Brno, we'll embark on a walking tour to provide familiarity with the city. Overnight Brno - 2 nights
Tuesday, 25 May 2027: Free Day Brno (B)
Take advantage of this free day in Brno to go exploring or relax in a cafe. Brno, the second-largest city in the Czech Republic is known as a youthful hub. It mixes a grand historic center with a booming tech industry, world-class universities, and a highly praised cafe culture. Consider climbing up to Spilberg Castle, a massive 13th-century fortress overlooking the town. Brno is also famous for its mid-century modern design. The Villa Tugendhat is a famous glass house and a UNESCO World Heritage site, or maybe explore the spooky Brno Ossuary (holding 50,000 skeletons) and a secret atomic bomb bunker.
Wednesday, 26 May 2027: Travel to Prague; Tour Castle Complex (B,L)
We travel by train to Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, and consistently regarded as one of Europe's most beautiful cities, as it was relatively untouched during the world wars, leaving its historic architecture mostly intact. Prague is often referred to as the "City of a Hundred Spires," which will be apparent upon arrival. We embark on a walking tour on the west bank of the Vltava River as we visit the age-old icon known as the Prague Castle complex. We'll walk past the Old Royal Palace, St George Basilica, Golden Lane, and the Gothic architecture of St. Vitus' Cathedral, and we'll take in the panoramic views of the famous Charles Bridge that spans the Vltava River. Afterward, we'll check-in to our hotel and spend a relaxing evening on our own. Overnight Prague - 3 nights
Thursday, 27 May 2027: Prague Old Town Walking Tour; Afternoon at Leisure (B,L)
This morning, we discover the Old Town, with a walking tour of the vast cobblestone expanse of Old Town Square and see the famous mechanized antics of the Astronomical Clock's glockenspiel. We will also walk through Prague's Jewish Quarter. In the late 1800s, most of this area was destroyed in an effort by the city to mirror Paris. The remainder of the afternoon is free to enjoy as you wish. Your Tour Director will have suggestions for things to see and do.
Friday, 28 May 2027: Free Day in Prague; Farewell Dinner (B,D)
We find so many travelers become enchanted with this city and wish to spend additional time simply roaming the back alleyways, poking into the cute shops, and finding the funky and fun around every corner. If you need any suggestions, be sure to ask your Tour Director. This evening, we'll regroup for our Farewell Dinner and reminisce about our Central European adventure.
Saturday, 29 May 2027: Return Home from Prague (B)
Sadly, our adventure has come to an end. Schedule your return flight at your convenience. Group transfers to the airport will be provided based on your departure flight time.

Insurance Reminder
Mandatory Emergency Medical/Evacuation Insurance is required to take this trip and is not included in the cost of the tour.
Standard health insurance plans often do not cover medical emergencies in other countries. As a solo traveler, insurance is essential to provide support and care coordination in the event of a medical emergency. It must cover air-evacuation from the destination as a result of a medical emergency during the trip.
Suggested companies for Emergency Medical/Evacuation Insurance are: Allianz Travel Insurance and World Nomads.
Trip Cancellation / Trip Interruption Insurance is not included in the cost of the tour. It is your responsibility to determine the amount and type of coverage you require to recoup some or all of your travel investment, whether you cancel, are unable to complete the tour, or the tour cannot operate. Section 4.0 of WTT Terms & Conditions explains what will happen to your payments in the unlikely event that your tour cannot operate.
WTT is not licensed to sell travel insurance. You can purchase travel insurance from any provider you choose. To get an idea of rates, please go to NTA Travel Protection Plan (Enter 206063 for the "Tour Operator Location #") or TravelGuard

How Does Room Sharing Work?
Traveling Solo? 80% of the women on your tour will be traveling solo!
On the Reservation Form there are 3 choices regarding room-sharing.
Note: Certain room-types may be unavailable at the time you make your reservation. If a room-type is unavailable the choice will be greyed out.
- Select "Yes, I want to share a room" and WTT will assign you a roommate when Final Travel Instructions are sent.
- You can specify a roommate by entering her name where indicated. If your named roommate is not on the tour, for any reason, WTT will assign you a roommate unless you pay to have your own room, if available.

A few facts about sharing a room:
- All shared rooms have 2 beds
- All shared rooms are non-smoking
- No special requests about your roommate can be accommodated
- See "Frequently Asked Questions" TAB for more details

Your Responsibilities as a Solo Traveler
As a solo traveler you are responsible for yourself, your possessions, your physical fitness, and all other aspects related to participation in the WTT tour you have chosen. Be sure to read the itinerary closely to better understand the physical requirements necessary for the tour.
WTT tours are not suitable for anyone whose mobility is challenged or compromised. If you struggle with walking, standing or negotiating stairs or if you are in doubt as to your ability to meet the physical activity requirements, you should not sign up for this trip.
What is the Group Size?
What meals are included and how are dietary restrictions accommodated?
Each day of the itinerary lists the included meals for that day. When a meal is not included, the WTT Tour Leader will have suggestions for where to eat.
You do not have to dine alone unless it is your personal choice. You'll most likely be dining with new acquaintances you've made, or you can join the Tour Leader.
Dietary Restrictions: On international tours WTT has limited to no control over food selections or variety from meal-to-meal, especially at hotels. While we do our best to accommodate dietary requests and ensure variety of options, we cannot guarantee either.
What clothing and items should I pack for this trip?
For This Trip You May Want -
- Shoes that are comfortable for walking
- Hiking shoes
- Refillable water bottle
- Smart-casual wear if you'd like to dress up a bit for dinners
- Lightweight but warm jacket/sweater for the cool mornings and evenings or the unusually brisk day
- Swimsuit
Good Packing Habits—
- Bring what you need to get a good night's sleep, such as ear plugs, white noise generator, sleeping aids, etc. Unfamiliar noises of all types can disrupt your rest.
- Pack a limited amount of comfortable, casual clothing that layer and coordinate. Your fellow travelers will not mind or even notice – seeing you in the same clothing.
- Bring only two pairs of everyday shoes: one pair of well-broken-in walking shoes, and a second pair that could do double-duty as a walking shoe or a slightly dressy shoe.
- Pare down your beauty regimen to the bare minimum and always pack travel-sized toiletries.
- Pack medication in your carry-on and pack only as much as needed for the duration of your tour plus a few extra days as a precaution.
What are the luggage restrictions for this tour?
- It is best to travel as lightly as possible. Most travelers regret when they have packed too much.
- You may bring one suitcase plus a carry-on bag.
- We recommend your suitcase be no larger than 26 inches high as measured from the FLOOR to the top of the retracted handle to make it easy for you to handle yourself. The small or medium-size in a 3-piece luggage set easily meets this requirement.
- You are responsible for managing your own belongings. We expect you to take your belongings from the coach to your room and to bring it back to the coach on days we change hotels. We do not provide luggage pulls; they are not safe and are inconvenient.
- Steps exist at most hotel entrances. On occasion the coach must unload passengers and luggage some distance from the hotel entrance.
What are the phone and internet recommendations for this tour?
Only you can determine your need to stay in contact while traveling.
- You should understand what your current cell phone plan includes in terms of data and minutes. Some, like certain T-Mobile plans, include an international package.
- Contact your cell phone service provider before departing about adding an international calling plan. Most carriers have flat daily rates which will allow your US-based phone to be functional upon arrival in a foreign country.
- Managing data while traveling internationally is important. Using WiFi when available and communicating through apps like What's App help you manage data usage while traveling.
- Learn how to make an international call BEFORE you leave. Consult your cell provider and check out the website www.HowtoCallAbroad.com.
What are the electricity requirements for this tour?
How much money should I bring on this tour?
Only you can determine the optimum amount of cash to take on tour. When budgeting for out-of-pocket expenses, there are several aspects to consider: whether the country you are visiting is a cash-based society, the number of meals you are responsible for, your individual shopping interests and habits, and tipping expectations.
- Poland's official currency is the Zloty. Slovakia's official currency is the Euro. The Czech Republic's official currency is the Czech Koruna.
- ATMs are typically the best way of obtaining local currency; they are found in most airports and tourist destinations. ATMS of major banks often give much better exchange rates than currency-exchange kiosks.
- If using a debit card, it is good practice to limit the amount of cash available in the account and simply transfer money from another account if you need more at any point on tour. Always use caution when withdrawing money.
- Notify your credit card issuer that you will be traveling and provide dates of travel.
- Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted, although many cards charge a foreign transaction fee. Be sure to investigate your card of choice as there are many that do not impose these fees and are better suited for international travel.
- If a merchant gives you the choice between making your transaction in USD or the local currency, always choose the local currency, to avoid dynamic currency conversion which includes a conversion fee.
What are the tipping guidelines for this tour?
- You are responsible for tipping the In-Country Escort who travels with the group.
- We suggest you read up on tipping culture in the various places you will be visiting so you can show your appreciation for any personal service provided with an appropriate gratuity.
- Tipping in Poland - 10-15% is customary in restaurants, taxis, hotel service.
- Tipping in Slovakia is at your discretion. Locals commonly round up the bill to the nearest Euro.
- Tipping in Czech Republic - Restaurants often include a surcharge of 8-10% on the bill, but if this isn't the case, 10% is standard.
- You may want to tip your WTT Tour Leader for an outstanding job. The amount is entirely a personal preference. If you'd like a guideline, consider $8-$10 per day.
