Stroll past workshops to observe engineers bringing these lifelike motorized animals to life. We ride on the iconic Great Elephant, a spectacular, 40-foot-tall mechanical creation that moves, trumpets, and playfully sprays water into the crowd. This afternoon is yours to enjoy Nantes as you wish. Your Tour Leader can offer suggestions.
Monday, 12 April 2027: Walking Tour of Vannes; Scenic Cruise on the Gulf of Morbihan (B,D)
Our journey continues to the historic town of Vannes, a masterpiece of medieval heritage and one of Brittany’s most beautiful destinations. Our guides takes us through a maze of half-timbered houses and ancient cobbled streets, all sheltered by remarkably preserved ramparts. Just outside the walled area, we visit the Saint Patern quarter, the town’s oldest district. Named after the first bishop of Vannes and one of the seven founding saints of Brittany, this lively neighborhood boasts a charming, village-like atmosphere. This afternoon, we embark on a scenic cruise through the Gulf of Morbihan—literally the "Little Sea" in Breton. This breathtaking bay is a maritime labyrinth, famously said to hold as many islands as there are days in the year. Relax on deck as we navigate past emerald islets and hidden coves, soaking in one of France’s most beautiful coastal landscapes. Overnight Vannes - 2 nights
Tuesday, 13 April 2027: Standing Stones of the Carnac Alignments; Free Time in Auray (B)
We begin our morning marveling at the mystery of the Carnac Alignments, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring over 3,000 ancient megaliths. Whether these massive standing stones served as a celestial calendar or—as local legend tells—a frozen Roman army, their immense scale is truly spectacular. Nearby, we discover the historic port town of Auray, one of Brittany’s most treasured riverside destinations. The town features two distinct areas: the upper town, centering around the historic Saint-Gildas church, and the lower port of Saint-Goustan, which famously welcomed Benjamin Franklin in 1776 during his diplomatic mission to France. Explore this area at your own pace. Consider crossing the iconic, four-arched 13th-century stone bridge to explore Place Saint-Sauveur, a picturesque square celebrated for its rounded cobblestones and beautiful architecture.

Today takes us north across the Brittany peninsula as we travel from Vannes to the dramatic Emerald Coast. We break up the drive with a stop in Rennes, where there is time to stretch our legs and browse local shops before we enjoy a traditional lunch together. Our journey continues into the countryside to visit a beautifully restored farm and cider museum. Here, we view vintage apple-pressing exhibitions and taste a classic sparkling Breton cider paired with a fresh treat. This afternoon features a unique visit to the Baie des Caps manufacturing shop to learn how the famous Breton wool sailor sweaters are made before we head to Saint-Malo. This historic port city is famous for its massive ocean tides and its thrilling legacy as the home of daring explorers and high-seas pirates. Enjoy an evening at leisure to stroll the historic streets and dine at your own pace. Overnight Saint-Malo - 2 nights
Thursday, 15 April 2027: Walking Tour of Saint-Malo; Crepe-Making Workshop (B,O)

Our guided walking tour takes us along the granite defensive walls, offering panoramic views of the emerald coast and sandy beaches. Admire the restored stone mansions and boutiques as we walk the cobblestone streets of the historic old town. This afternoon, we dive into Brittany's culinary heritage during a hands-on crepe workshop. Learn the artisan techniques behind mixing the traditional batter and savor your own sweet creations. We return to the hotel late this afternoon.
Friday, 16 April 2027: Mont Saint-Michel; Travel to Bayeux (B)
Today, we journey to the legendary Mont Saint-Michel, a soaring medieval masterpiece frequently hailed as "The Wonder of the Western World." This UNESCO World Heritage site is a vision of stone and mist that has captivated pilgrims and travelers for centuries. Once a secluded fortress island protected by the most powerful tides in Europe, it is now gracefully linked to the mainland by a modern causeway, allowing for easy access to its ancient gates. Our guide takes us on an immersive tour of the island’s winding, vertical streets. The highlight is our visit to the Abbey of Mont Saint-Michel. Known as La Merveille (The Marvel), this architectural triumph perches at the island's highest point, offering an enchanting and romantic silhouette that defines the horizon of Normandy. We take time to enjoy the village and its scenery before continuing onto Bayeux. Overnight Bayeux - 2 nights
Saturday, 17 April 2027: Day at Normandy - Omaha Beach; Memorial de Caen (B,L)
We spend the day exploring Normandy, a region that shaped the course of modern world history. We begin with a visit to Omaha Beach, where you can feel the weight of history in the stillness of the air and the vastness of the sand. The scale of the wide beach, showing the immense distance from the water's edge to the relative safety of the sea wall, is striking. Perched on the cliff overlooking Omaha Beach is the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial. It is an overwhelming sight to see the infinite rows of more than 9,000 white marble crosses and Stars of David perfectly aligned against the green grass. We also visit the Wall of the Missing, a semicircular colonnade featuring the names of 1,557 soldiers whose remains were never recovered or identified. We then share lunch together at the Memorial de Caen, an awarding-winning museum dedictated to peace, and enjoy a tour. Late this afternoon we return to Bayeux.
Sunday, 18 April 2027: Train to Paris; Farewell Dinner (B,D)
We bid farewell to Normandy, and take the high-speed train to Paris. Upon arrival, we will be transferred to our hotel. The rest of the day is yours to explore Paris. We regroup this evening for our Farewell Dinner and share our favorite memories. Overnight Paris - 1 night

- All shared rooms have 2 beds
- All shared rooms are non-smoking
- No special requests about your roommate can be accommodated

Each day of the itinerary lists the included meals for that day (B,L,D,O=Other). When a meal is not included, the WTT Tour Director will have suggestions for where to eat.
You do not have to dine alone unless it is your personal choice. You'll most likely be dining with new acquaintances you've made, or you can join the Tour Director.

What clothing and items should I pack for this trip?
In general the temperature, rainfall and humidity levels vary based on the time of the year. We suggest you monitor weather apps leading up to the time you depart for the most current information.
For This Trip You May Want—
- Shoes that are comfortable for walking
- Refillable water bottle
- Smart-casual wear if you'd like to dress up a bit for dinners
- Lightweight but warm jacket/sweater for the cool mornings and evenings or the unusually brisk day
- Inexpensive rain poncho or travel umbrella, just in case
Good Packing Habits—
- Bring what you need to get a good night's sleep, such as ear plugs, white noise generator, sleeping aids, etc. Unfamiliar noises of all types can disrupt your rest.
- Pack a limited amount of comfortable, casual clothing that layer and coordinate. Your fellow travelers will not mind or even notice – seeing you in the same clothing.
- Bring only two pairs of everyday shoes: one pair of well-broken-in walking shoes, and a second pair that could do double-duty as a walking shoe or a slightly dressy shoe.
- Pare down your beauty regimen to the bare minimum and always pack travel-sized toiletries.
- Pack medication in your carry-on and pack only as much as needed for the duration of your tour plus a few extra days as a precaution.
What are the luggage restrictions for this tour?
On every WTT tour, our policies regarding luggage restrictions are driven by the physical space limitations of the vehicles we use, the requirement that all travelers be able to manage their own belongings without assistance and the restrictions imposed by other forms of transportation such as [trains and small planes].
- It is best to travel as lightly as possible. Most travelers regret packing too much.
- You may bring one suitcase plus a carry-on bag.
- We recommend your suitcase be no larger than 26 inches high as measured from the FLOOR to the top of the retracted handle, to make it easy for you to handle yourself.
- You are responsible for managing your own belongings. We expect you to take your belongings from the coach to your room and to bring it back to the coach on days we change hotels. We do not provide luggage pulls; they are not safe and are inconvenient.
- Steps exist at most hotel entrances. On occasion, the coach must unload passengers and luggage some distance from the hotel entrance.
What are the phone and internet recommendations for this tour?
- You should understand what your current cell phone plan includes in terms of data and minutes. Some, like certain T-Mobile plans, include an international package.
- Contact your cell phone service provider before departing about adding an international calling plan. Most carriers have flat daily rates which will allow your US-based phone to be functional upon arrival in a foreign country.
- Managing data while traveling internationally is important. Using WiFi when available and communicating through apps like WhatsApp help you manage data usage while traveling.Learn how to make an international call BEFORE you leave. Consult your cell provider and check out the website www.HowtoCallAbroad.com.
What are the electricity requirements for this tour?
Europe operates on 220V or 230V, which differs from most of North America and most European countries use the Europlug (also called the C-plug). Most of today's electronics (laptops, phone chargers etc.) are multi-voltage and will work worldwide automatically without a transformer, but will require a standard European plug adapter. Do not bring any heating appliances (curling iron, flat iron, etc) unless they are specifically rated as multi-voltage.
How much money should I bring on this tour?
Only you can determine the optimum amount of cash to take on tour. When budgeting for out-of-pocket expenses, there are several aspects to consider: whether the country you are visiting is a cash-based society, the number of meals you are responsible for, your individual shopping interests and habits, and tipping expectations.
- The official currency of France is the Euro.
- ATMs are typically the best way of obtaining local currency; they are found in most airports and tourist destinations. ATMs of major banks often give much better exchange rates than currency-exchange kiosks.
- If using a debit card, it is good practice to limit the amount of cash available in the account and simply transfer money from another account if you need more at any point on tour. Always use caution when withdrawing money.
- Many travelers feel more comfortable having local currency before they depart for the tour. You may be able to order currency from your bank.
- Notify your credit card issuer that you will be traveling and provide dates of travel.
- Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted, although many cards charge a foreign transaction fee. Be sure to investigate your card of choice as there are many that do not impose these fees and are better suited for international travel.
- If a merchant gives you the choice between making your transaction in USD or the local currency, always choose the local currency, to avoid dynamic currency conversion which includes a conversion fee.
What are the tipping guidelines for this tour?
All tips to drivers and local guides who join the tour to lead individual activities will be paid on your behalf.
- You are responsible for Tipping the In-Country guide who travels with the group.
- You are responsible for tipping transfer drivers, wait staff, porters, hotel housekeeping, and others who provide services to you.
- In France, service is already factored into any restaurant price. However, it's customary to leave something small. If you receive assistance translating a menu or have special requests for the kitchen, consider tipping more.
- You may want to tip your WTT Tour Director for an outstanding job. The amount is entirely a personal preference. If you'd like a guideline, consider $8-$10 per day.
