Itinerary
Monday, 10 May 2027: Arrive Prague; Welcome Dinner (D)
Schedule your arrival into Prague no later than 3:00pm and take local transportation (or purchase an optional private transfer) to the hotel. The tour begins at 6:00pm in the hotel lobby with our Welcome Meeting after which we will depart for dinner together to become better acquainted. Overnight Prague - 4 nights
Tuesday, 11 May 2027: City Tour of Prague; Brewery Tour (B,L,D)
We begin with a half-day in-depth walking tour of Prague, consistently regarded as one of Europe's most beautiful cities, to discover more than a thousand years of Czech history and see why they call this the "City of a Hundred Spires." Our focus will be on the west bank of the Vltava River as we visit the age-old icon of the Czech Republic, the Prague Castle complex. We'll visit the amazing St. Vitus' Cathedral set inside the castle complex and take in the panoramic views of the Charles Bridge. After our tour ends, we'll enjoy lunch together. The remainder of the afternoon is free to enjoy as you wish. Your Tour Leader will have suggestions for things to see and do. This evening we come together and enjoy a brewery tour. Learn about the steps and ingredients that go into beer production. See the bottling facility as well as the cellars before enjoying dinner together.
Wednesday, 12 May 2027: Old Town Prague; Free Time (B)
Today we'll explore the vast cobblestone expanse of Old Town Square and see the famous mechanized antics of the Astronomical Clock's glockenspiel. We will also walk through the exterior of Prague's Jewish Quarter. In the late 1800s most of this area was destroyed in an effort by the city to mirror Paris. This afternoon is yours to mosey as you wish. We find so many travelers become enchanted with this city and wish to spend additional time simply roaming the back alleyways, poking into the cute shops, and finding the funky and fun around every corner.
Thursday, 13 May 2027: Day Trip to Cesky Krumlov (B,L)
We depart early for a 3-hour drive to the small medieval town of Cesky Krumlov, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most picturesque towns in all of Europe. Here we will tour along the cobbled stone streets and arch-covered footpaths, past colorful town houses and centuries-old inns. The town has well-preserved architectural examples of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque periods. We will visit the castle that dates back to the mid-13th century. After this enjoyable day, we return to Prague.
Friday, 14 May 2027: Train to Vienna; Vienna City Tour (B)
We take the train to Vienna this morning and get our bearings with a panoramic city tour. Vienna, dubbed "The City of Music" because it's been home to more famous composers than anywhere else, is known for both its grand palaces as well as its cozy coffee house culture. We will drive the Ringstrasse, the famous Ring Road, to see numerous landmarks, such as the State Opera House, the magnificent Museum of Fine Arts with its world famous art treasures of the Habsburgs, the Natural History Museum, the Hofburg (the former Habsburg winter residence), Parliament, City Hall and Burgtheater. Overnight Vienna - 3 nights
Saturday, 15 May 2027: Personal Day in Vienna (B)
Today is free to enjoy Vienna at your own pace. You may want to head to the Burggarten today; Burggarten was once the backyard of the Hofburg and is now a grassy "people's park." If you love food then don't miss the Naschmarkt. Here you will find over 120 market stands and restaurants and the weekly Saturday flea market. Or perhaps you'll choose to while away the hours at a local cafe or climb the 343 steps of the south tower of St. Stephan’s Cathedral, one of the Europe’s great Gothic structures. The view of the tiled roof is jaw-dropping from this vantage point. Your Tour Leader will have an itinerary if you'd like to accompany her; otherwise, strike out for your own adventures.
Sunday, 16 May 2027: Schoenbrunn Palace; Free Afternoon; Dinner & Concert (B,D)
We'll pay a visit to Schoenbrunn Palace, once the summer residence of the Habsburg family and home of Maria Theresa, the only female ruler of the Habsburg dynasty. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Although we won't be able to visit all 1,440 rooms, we will see enough to provide a great sense of the grandeur of the palace. After our visit, we return to our hotel for some downtime. This evening we regroup to have dinner and take in a classical concert.
Monday, 17 May 2027: Danube Cruise; Bratislava City Tour; Budapest (B)
We cruise up the mighty blue (though it's not really blue!) Danube from Vienna to explore Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, which gained its independence in 1993. Here we'll see the highlights, including Grassalkovich Palace, Michael’s Gate and more. After our city tour and some time to grab lunch on your own, we board a coach for the ride into Budapest. Overnight Budapest - 4 nights
Tuesday, 18 May 2027: Budapest City Tour; Visit the Parliament Building; Evening Danube Cruise (B,L)
We enjoy a full-day tour of Budapest today as there is so much to see in this fascinating capital. On a panoramic city tour, we'll look out over the famous river that divides Buda from Pest. This afternoon, we’ll visit the interior of the magnificent House of Parliament. Built in the Gothic Revival style, it is the third-largest Parliament building in the world. We'll see the splendid session room, the richly decorated central staircase, and the great vaulted hall as well as visit the cupola room, which houses the Hungarian Crown Jewels and the Hungarian Holy Crown. Following the tour, the remainder of the late afternoon is free to shop or explore at your own pace. Tonight we enjoy a cruise along the Danube together!
Wednesday, 19 May 2027: Day Trip to Gödöllö and Equestrian Demonstration (B,L)
Today we visit the Royal Palace of Gödöllö, the largest Baroque palace in Hungary and the second largest palace by surface area after Versailles. We then make our way through the countryside to The Lazar Equestrian Park, located in a picturesque valley among rolling hills of the Gödöllő natural protected area. We're here to watch skilled horseman demonstrate age-old techniques and enjoy a traditional Hungarian meal at the lodge before returning to Budapest.
Thursday, 20 May 2027: Personal Day in Budapest; Farewell Dinner (B,D)
Today is yours to enjoy as you wish in Budapest. Perhaps you'll want to visit one of the thermal baths for which the city is known. There is so much to see and do you won't have any problems with choices. Your Tour Leader will assist with suggestions if you prefer. This evening we will gather one final time for dinner together.

- Select "Yes, I want to share a room" and WTT will assign you a roommate when Final Travel Instructions are sent.
- You can specify a roommate by entering her name where indicated. If your named roommate is not on the tour, for any reason, WTT will assign you a roommate unless you pay to have your own room, if available.
- Select "No, I do not wish to share a room" if you want to have your own room. Additional costs apply.
- All shared rooms have 2 beds
- All shared rooms are non-smoking
- No special requests about your roommate can be accommodated
- See "Frequently Asked Questions" TAB for more details
How Active is this Tour?
- 30% Easy
- 70% Moderate (Must be able to walk for up to 3 hours at comfortable pace often over cobblestone streets and uneven terrain).
Your Responsibilities as a Solo Traveler
As a solo traveler you are responsible for yourself, your possessions, your physical fitness, and all other aspects related to participation in the WTT tour you have chosen. Be sure to read the itinerary closely to better understand the physical requirements necessary for the tour.
WTT tours are not suitable for anyone whose mobility is challenged or compromised. If you struggle with walking, standing or negotiating stairs or if you are in doubt as to your ability to meet the physical activity requirements, you should not sign up for this trip.
What is the Group Size?
You will be introduced to the WTT Tour Leader when you receive your Final Travel Instructions, about 2-3 weeks before the tour begins.
Learn about your fellow travelers after final payment by visiting MyWTT. Room sharing assignments will be listed in the Final Travel Instructions.
What meals are included and how are dietary restrictions accommodated?
You do not have to dine alone unless it is your personal choice. You'll most likely be dining with new acquaintances you've made, or you can join the Tour Leader.
Dietary Restrictions on International Tours: WTT has limited to no control over food selections or variety from meal-to-meal, especially at hotels. While we do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions and ensure variety of options, we cannot guarantee either.
What clothing and items should I pack for this trip?
In general the temperature, rainfall and humidity levels vary based on the time of the year. We suggest you monitor weather apps before you depart for the most current information.
For This Trip You’ll Need—
- As part of this tour, we experience an evening of dinner and a concert where you will want to dress up.
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Lightweight jacket or sweater for cooler mornings and evenings.
- Swimsuit, sunscreen & cover-up — Budapest has many thermal baths
Good Packing Habits—
- Bring what you need to get a good night's sleep, such as ear plugs, white noise generator, sleeping aids, etc. Unfamiliar noises of all types can disrupt your rest.
- Pack a limited amount of comfortable, casual clothing that layer and coordinate. Your fellow travelers will not mind or even notice – seeing you in the same clothing.
- Bring only two pairs of everyday shoes: one pair of well-broken-in walking shoes, and a second pair that could do double-duty as a walking shoe or a slightly dressy shoe.
- Pare down your beauty regimen to the bare minimum and always pack travel-sized toiletries.
- Pack medication in your carry-on and pack only as much as needed for the duration of your tour plus a few extra days as a precaution.
What are the luggage restrictions for this tour?
We will be traveling by train, boat, and coach on this tour. Luggage restrictions are driven by the physical space limitations of the transportation we use and the requirement that all travelers be able to manage their own belongings.
- It is best to travel as lightly as possible. Most travelers regret when they have packed too much.
- You may bring one suitcase plus 1 carry-on. For ease of handling, we recommend your bag be no larger than 26 inches. This is the medium piece of luggage in a three piece set.
- You are responsible for managing your own belongings. You must be able to get on and off trains and boats with your belongings without assistance. You will not have time to search for a porter. Your luggage will most likely be stored overhead on the train to Vienna and on the boat to Bratislava. Be sure you can lift and manage your luggage without assistance.
What are the health recommendations for this tour?
What are the phone and internet recommendations for this tour?
- You should understand what your current cell phone plan includes in terms of data and minutes. Some, like certain T-Mobile plans, include an international package.
- Contact your cell phone service provider before departing about adding an international calling plan. Most carriers have flat daily rates which will allow your US-based phone to be functional upon arrival in a foreign country.
- Managing data while traveling internationally is important. Using WiFi when available and communicating through apps like What's App help you manage data usage while traveling.
- Learn how to make an international call BEFORE you leave. Consult your cell provider and check out the web site www.HowtoCallAbroad.com.
What are the electricity requirements for this tour?
How much money should I bring on this tour?
Only you can determine the optimum amount of cash to take on tour. When budgeting for out-of-pocket expenses, there are several aspects to consider: the number of meals you are responsible for, the amount of money you like to have on-hand for snacks and drinks, and your individual shopping interests and habits.
- Notify your credit card issuer that you will be traveling and provide dates of travel.
- Prague’s official currency is the Czech Koruna, Austria's official currency is the Euro, and Budapest’s official currency is the Forints. You can access the different currencies thru currency exchange stations and ATMs.
- Debit cards can be useful for cash advances. ATMs are typically the best way of obtaining cash as they are found in most airports and big cities and tourist areas. However, there are no guarantees that your credit or debit cards will actually work overseas. Some foreign countries limit the amount that can be withdrawn daily. You must know your PIN number for your debit card to use ATMs. Always use caution when withdrawing money.
- Exchange $100 or so into local local currency so you have cash upon arrival.
What are the tipping guidelines for this tour?
- We suggest you read up on tipping culture in the various places you will be visiting so you can show your appreciation for any personal service provided with an appropriate gratuity.
- There are tipping similarities in all cities. Restaurants typically include a service charge, however if you have great service a 10% tip is appreciated. Hotels typically include a service charge as well, but a tip of EUR1 or 2 (or equivalent) per bag is appreciated and EUR15 (or equivalent) is appropriate if you receive excellent concierge service. If you visit a spa in any of these cities, plan for a 5-10% tip.
- It is typical to tip a taxi driver 10% in Vienna and Budapest but not in Prague. In Prague you would only tip that amount on longer journeys. Instead consider rounding the bill up to the nearest significant amount.
- You may want to tip your WTT Tour Leader for an outstanding job. The amount is entirely a personal preference. If you'd like a guideline, consider $8-$10 per day.
