Itinerary
Thursday, 11 March 2027: Arrive Casablanca; Welcome Dinner (D)
Schedule your arrival to Casablanca no later than 4:00pm. Group transfers based on flight arrival times are included from the airport to the hotel. The tour begins at 6:00pm in the lobby of the hotel. The Welcome Meeting will be followed by dinner together at the hotel to get better acquainted. Casablanca is the largest and most populated city in Morocco. With Art Deco architecture dating to the French protectorate, this beautiful city features several historical monuments, including the second largest mosque after Mecca. Overnight Casablanca - 1 night
Friday, 12 March 2027: Morning Sightseeing in Casablanca; Travel to Rabat (B)
Our morning tour of Casablanca introduces us to Morocco’s commercial and financial center. Highlights include the medina (old quarters), the residential suburbs, the Hassan II mosque, Palace Mohammed V and the Gates of Royal Palace of King Mohammed VI. We then travel north along the coastline to Rabat, the capital of the kingdom. Here we visit the Archeological Museum which showcases discoveries from prehistoric times up until the Islamic era. Overnight Rabat - 1 night
Saturday, 13 March 2027: Travel to Fes Via Volubilis (B,L)
Though this is a travel day, we do plenty of walking at our designated stops. There really is no other way to see Morocco without walking! This morning we visit the picturesque Kasbah des Oudaias overlooking the Atlantic Ocean to see the Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohamed V, who achieved independence for Morocco in 1956. We continue east towards Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is home to some of the best-preserved Roman ruins in North Africa. We'll stop at a vineyard with beautifully manicured gardens for lunch and wine tasting. We also visit the nearby town of Moulay Idriss: the holiest Islamic site in Morocco. Our day ends in Fes where you can enjoy the evening as you wish. Overnight Fes - 2 nights
Sunday, 14 March 2027: Fes City Tour (B,L)
We begin with a sightseeing tour of the old city of Fes, which dates back six centuries. We'll visit the medina of Fez El Bali, El Glaoui Palace and more. We enjoy lunch together and continue to explore Fes J'did, the newest part of the city, and its chic cafe-lined avenues that provide a jarring contrast to the ancient city. We'll take in the mellah (Jewish district) before we end our day. Again, expect to walk a lot today; there simply isn't any other way to explore the medina. Tonight, be sure to pack a separate overnight bag with only your essentials to take into the desert camp tomorrow; otherwise you may find sand making its way into all of your belongings.
Monday, 15 March 2027: Travel to Desert Camp via Coach and Land Rovers (B,D)
We are up early today as we embark on a long day of travel overland through the heart of the desert. At Erfoud, we transfer to 4-wheel-drive Land Rovers for the ride through the sand dunes to our desert camp near Merzouga to spend the night in the Sahara. We close out our evening with a simple Moroccan dinner before retreating to our tents, which are decked out with hand-woven rugs, plush cushions and comfortable beds. Overnight Desert Camp - 1 night
Tuesday, 16 March 2027: Sunrise Camel Ride; Todra Gorges; Dades Valley; Ouarzazate (B,L)
We wake early to ride camels to the dunes and watch the sun rise over the Sahara. After breakfast back at camp, we head through the scenic Todra Gorges and the Dades Valley, areas wonderfully sculpted by Mother Nature. Hugging the lush riverbed are many of Morocco’s most scenic kasbahs and ksour. We continue down the route of kasbahs past acres of roses and a date oasis, to one of the largest, most decorated kasbahs in Morocco. The day concludes at the foot of the Atlas Mountains in Ouarzazate, film capital of Morocco, where movies including Lawrence of Arabia and Star Wars were filmed. Overnight Ouarzazate - 1 night
Wednesday, 17 March 2027: Free Day (B)
Today is yours to enjoy as you wish. This is a busy itinerary so perhaps you'd like to relax and just enjoy the lovely hotel property. Spend time by the pool or consider visiting the spa (at your own expense). If you are feeling adventurous, the hotel offers assistance with arranging guided tours. Your Tour Leader will have suggestions.
Thursday, 18 March 2027: Kasbah at Aït Ben-Haddou (B)
After breakfast, we depart for Marrakesh. En route we visit the Kasbah Taourirt, a UNESCO-restored kasbah at Ait Ben-Haddou. This Berber village preserves the most impressive ksar of Morocco – unchanged from the Middle Ages. Be prepared for a lot of walking this day along cobblestone and dirt roads in this ancient village. There is some elevation involved but the views are worth it! Overnight Marrakesh - 3 nights
Friday, 19 March 2027: Full-Day Marrakesh Tour (B,L)
Today, we explore Marrakesh on foot. We begin at the Yves St. Laurent Museum, a place entirely devoted to the work of the legendary fashion designer who was inspired by the colors of the country. We'll stop in at the Berber Museum, housed in the former painting studio of the artist Jacques Majorelle and visit the Majorelle Garden, which was bought and restored by YSL in 1980. We also stop at Bahia Palace, an eye-popping display of stucco, painted wood, ceramic tiles and symmetrical gardens. It is often said to be the most beautiful palace in Morocco. This evening we will regroup to visit Djemaa el Fna, the central square and the heart of the city. The square is surrounded by bazaars, mosques and terraced cafes, and hosts snake charmers, fire eaters and fortune tellers. There will be time to walk through the old medina and the labyrinth of souks and take in the soul of the city.
Saturday, 20 March 2027: Free Day; Moroccan Cooking Class (B,D)
Today is yours to explore as you wish! Your Tour Leader will have suggestions and can help pair travelers with similar interests. Perhaps you'll want to visit a hammam, or public steam bath, for a relaxing and invigorating way to dip into Moroccan culture, or do a little more shopping at the Medina, or seek out a place to get a henna tattoo. There is no shortage of things to see and do here. We regroup late this afternoon for a special culinary experience as we travel to the countryside for a farm-to-table cooking class with an executive chef. Here we will gain an inside perspective on one of the world's most highly cherished cuisines, delighting in dinner together as we recount our adventures during our time together.
Sunday, 21 March 2027: Return Home from Marrakesh (B)
Sadly, our time in Morocco has come to an end. Schedule your return flight home at your convenience, remembering that you will need to depart the hotel 3 hours before your flight departs. Your Tour Leader can assist with ride-sharing to the airport (departure transfer cost not included).

Trip Cancellation / Trip Interruption Insurance is not included in the cost of the tour. It is your responsibility to determine the amount and type of coverage you require to recoup some or all of your travel investment, whether you cancel, are unable to complete the tour, or the tour cannot operate. Dietary Restrictions on International Tours: WTT has limited to no control over food selections or variety from meal-to-meal, especially at hotels. While we do our best to accommodate dietary requests and ensure variety of options, we cannot guarantee either.
What clothing and items should I pack for this trip?
In general this time of year, Morocco has daily highs in the mid-70s, dropping to the 50s at night. Expect colder nighttime temperatures in the desert.
For This Trip You’ll Need—
- Modest clothing for touring in public. This includes wearing longer skirts and dresses, jeans or pants that cover the knees, draping tunics, light cardigans. Bare shoulders should be avoided.
- Scarf or shawl — While head coverings are not required, there may be places where you should adhere to local customs.
- Shoes that do not show your bare feet. If you wish to wear sandals in public, wear socks as well.
- Warm jacket and thick gloves — It can get cold in the desert at night.
You May Also Want—
- Small overnight bag/backpack and plastic bag for stay at the desert camp
- Hiking shoes - conditions vary greatly from mud to dusty sand
- Sunscreen, hat and sunglasses
- More relaxed attire, which includes sandals, shorts and swimwear for wearing at the hotels
Good Packing Habits—
- Pack a limited amount of comfortable, casual clothing that layer and coordinate. Your fellow travelers will not mind- or even notice – seeing you in the same clothing.
- Bring what you need to get a good night's sleep, such as ear plugs, white noise generator, sleeping pills, etc. Unfamiliar noises of all types can disrupt your rest.
- Pare down your beauty regimen to the bare minimum and pack travel-sized toiletries.
- Pack medication in your carry-on. When traveling internationally, it is recommended you bring extra of any essential medications.
What are the luggage restrictions for this tour?
On every WTT tour, our policies regarding luggage restrictions are driven by the physical space limitations of our vehicles and the requirement that all travelers be able to manage their own belongings without assistance.
- It is best to travel as lightly as possible. Most travelers regret when they have packed too much.
- Bring only one suitcase, preferably no larger than 26 inches high as measured from the FLOOR to the top of the retracted handle.
- You should also bring one carry-on, to use when visiting the desert camp. For that stay, we suggest you pack only essentials needed in your carry-on for unloading at the camp. Most belongings will become very sandy.
- You are responsible for managing your own belongings. We expect you to take your belongings from the coach to your room and to bring it back to the coach on days we change hotels. We do not provide luggage pulls; they are not safe and are inconvenient. The possibility of steps exists at most hotel entrances.
What are the health recommendations for this tour?
The standards for health and hygiene in Morocco are adequate. You can wash and brush your teeth using local water, however drink only bottled water.
While there are no specific vaccine requirements, you should be up-to-date on routine vaccinations while traveling to any destination. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provides additional guidance at www.cdc.gov. Please discuss any vaccine or health concerns with your healthcare provider.
What are the phone and internet recommendations for this tour?
- You should understand what your current cell phone plan includes in terms of data and minutes. Some, like certain T-Mobile plans, include an international package.
- Contact your cell phone service provider before departing about adding an international calling plan. Most carriers have flat daily rates which will allow your US-based phone to be functional upon arrival in a foreign country.
- Managing data while traveling internationally is important. Using WiFi when available and communicating through apps like What's App help you manage data usage while traveling.
- Learn how to make an international call BEFORE you leave. Consult your cell provider and check out the website www.HowtoCallAbroad.com.
What are the electricity requirements for this tour?
How much money should I bring on this tour?
- The official currency is the Moroccan Dirham (MAD/dh), which can only be obtained once in Morocco.
- The Casablanca Airport has ATMs in Terminals 1 & 2.
- We suggest you bring cash to convert to MAD, rather than relying on your debit card. ATMs outside of the airports can often be out of funds.
- Morocco is a cash-based society. Keep cash on hand for meals on your own, tips, bathrooms, small purchases, etc.
- Although MAD is the preferred currency Euros are often accepted, sometimes US Dollars as well.
- Notify your credit card issuer that you will be traveling and provide dates of travel. American Express is not widely accepted in Morocco. Mastercard or Visa are preferred where credit cards are accepted.
- Many restaurants don't take credit cards or may have malfunctioning card readers. Always be prepared with cash.
- Be sure to keep your receipts for currency exchange, as these will be required for the conversion of Dirham back to USD or Euros prior to departure and before you go through passport control.
What are the tipping guidelines for this tour?
Tips to drivers and local walking guides will be paid on your behalf.
- You are responsible for directly tiping the in-country guide who accompanies the group throughout Morocco. As a guideline, plan to tip $35-60 in total at the conclusion of your time together. Tipping in USD is appropriate.
- You should plan on tipping your transfer driver, wait-staff, porters, or other individuals who provide a service to you. If you leave a tip for your hotel maid make sure you place it in the pillow case.
- In Morocco, many restaurants now add 10% gratuity to the bill. If not, you’re expected to tip waiters in cafés (10dh per person) and restaurants (50dh or so in moderate places, 10–15% in upscale places) as well as porters who load your baggage onto buses (10dh).
- Never tip children, even if they have helped you find your way.
- You may want to tip your WTT Tour Leader for an outstanding job. The amount is entirely a personal preference. If you'd like a guideline, consider $8-$10 per day.
