Saturday, 06 March 2027: Hanoi City Tour; Group Lunch (B,L,O)
We begin our adventure in Hanoi, Vietnam's vibrant capital, home to ancient pagodas, traditional craft villages, bustling streets and scenic lakes. On our city tour we'll visit Ba Dinh Square, a home to national celebrations in Vietnam. Nearby, we visit the Ho Chi Minh Museum to learn about Ho Chi Minh's legacy and Vietnam's path to independence. We also tour Hoa Lo Prison, known to Americans as the "Hanoi Hilton," a sobering site with a complex history as a notorious POW camp. After lunch together, we'll stroll through Temple of Literature. Built in 1070 and dedicated to Confucius, it became Vietnam's first university. We'll cap the day with a cyclo ride through the bustling labyrinthine alleys of the Old Quarter, soaking in the city’s energy. With such a full day of discovery, we’ll be sure to take a break to savor an authentic Vietnamese coffee.
Sunday, 07 March 2027: Cruise Halong Bay (B,L,D)
We travel by coach to Halong Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its limestone islands and emerald waters. Upon boarding our floating hotel, we are welcomed with a delicious lunch buffet as we cruise past picturesque islands and landmarks. Our journey takes us to Luon Cave, a tunnel-like archway best experienced by sampan ride or a two-person kayak, and to Surprise Cave, one of Halong Bay's most magnificent grottoes. Once we anchor for the night, our chef prepares a traditional Vietnamese dinner. We can unwind with board games, try our hand at squid fishing, or simply relax under the starlit sky. Overnight Aboard Ship - 1 night
Monday, 08 March 2027: Tai Chi Lesson; Titov Island; Travel to Hoi An (B)
Start the day with a light breakfast before we enjoy a Tai Chi lesson on the sundeck (weather permitting). This morning we board tender boats to make our way to the shores of Titov Island. Enjoy time relaxing on the beach or perhaps take a quick dip in the refreshing waters. Consider climbing the island's peak for stunning 360-degree views of the bay. We'll return to the boat for brunch together as we sail back to the pier. We continue on to the airport for our flight to Da Nang City, the gateway to Hoi An where we will spend time exploring this well-preserved ancient trading port. Overnight Hoi An - 2 nights
Tuesday, 09 March 2027: Hoi An Cooking Class; Old Town Walking Tour; Tea House (B,L,O)
After a relaxing morning, we explore the charming town of Hoi An, beginning with a visit to Cam Thanh, a local fishing village where we learn traditional fishing techniques firsthand. Our hands-on culinary adventure begins at the bustling market to gather fresh ingredients for our cooking class. As we prepare a variety of local dishes for lunch, our chef introduces us to the distinctive flavors of Vietnamese cuisine. This afternoon, we'll enjoy a walking tour through Hoi An’s historic Old Town, famous for its colorful lanterns, well-preserved wooden merchant houses, ornate Chinese temples, and vibrant textile shops. We'll also stop at the iconic 400-year-old Japanese Bridge before heading to a local tea house. The evening is yours to enjoy at your leisure.
Wednesday, 10 March 2027: Fly to Ho Chi Minh City; Ben Thahn Market (B)
Explore Hoi An or relax this morning as we have some downtime to start the day. Midday, we fly to Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon. Renamed in 1976 to honor the principal of the Vietnamese nationalist movement, the city is a financial and business hub which is still known for its lively markets, street food culture and rich history. Upon arrival, we visit the busy Ben Thahn Market, one of the city's oldest and most spirited marketplaces. With over 1,500 stalls, it’s an ideal place to shop for souvenirs, sample street food, and experience the energy of daily life in Ho Chi Minh City. We then transfer to our hotel and check in. This evening is yours to spend as you wish. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City – 2 nights
Thursday, 11 March 2027: Ho Chi Minh City Tour (B,L)
Today, we embark on a full-day tour beginning with the historic underground city Cu Chi, about a 2-hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City. This 75-mile underground network of tunnels was used by the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War for stealthy movement and surprise attacks. We return to the city and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before we stroll along Book Street, a charming pedestrian avenue lined with bookstores, and stop in at the colonial-era Post Office to admire the stunning architecture of a bygone era. Our journey continues at the War Remnants Museum, a sobering reflection on the realities of the war. We return to the hotel late this afternoon.
Friday, 12 March 2027: Fly to Siem Reap; Dinner & Cultural Entertainment (B,D)
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before we bid farewell to Vietnam and take a midday flight to Siem Reap, Cambodia. Upon arrival, we check into our hotel and take time to settle in and unwind. This evening, we’re in for a special experience as we travel by tuk-tuk—the iconic three-wheeled transport—to a dinner featuring classic Khmer cuisine and an enchanting Apsara dance performance, a beautiful showcase of Cambodia’s traditional culture. Overnight Siem Reap - 2 nights
Saturday, 13 March 2027: Sunrise Over Angkor Wat; Tour Ta Prohm, the Jungle Temple; Banteay Samre (B,L)
We start very early today to see the sun rise (weather permitting) over legendary Angkor Wat. The crown jewel of Khmer architecture, Angkor Wat is the national symbol and the highlight of any visit to Cambodia. The largest, best preserved, and most religiously significant of the temples, Angkor impresses by both its sheer scale as well as the delicate and intricate artistry of its carvings. We then explore Ta Prohm Temple, a popular attraction in Angkor because much of the jungle has yet to be cleared. It still looks very much like most of the Angkor monuments would have appeared when European explorers first stumbled upon them. We will also visit the fortified city of Angkor Thom, enclosed by a wall and wide moats, to see the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper Kings. After lunch together, we visit Banteay Samre, a mid-12th century temple dedicated to the god Vishnu, one of the principal gods in Hinduism.
Sunday, 14 March 2027: Fly to Chiang Mai; Wat Doi Suthep (B)
We fly through Bangkok to get to Chiang Mai, known as the "Rose of the North" for its history, ancient temples and tribal culture. The area has over 300 temples, vibrant night markets, and lush mountainous surroundings. Overnight Chiang Mai - 2 nights
Monday, 15 March 2027: Elephant Eco Valley Camp; Araksa Tea Garden Tour & Lunch (B,L)
Be sure to bring a change of clothes on our adventure today, as we have the opportunity to get up close and personal with elephants! The Elephant Eco Valley Camp is a safe and humane place for elephants to live, where visitors can share an awareness of the animal's history. The camp focuses on the importance of caring for the elephant species and how humans can help. We learn about the behavior of these gentle giants. This afternoon we visit a local tea plantation, one of the oldest tea gardens in Thailand. Experience the traditional art of tea making during a hands-on lesson. We'll taste local teas and enjoy lunch. In the late afternoon, we depart for Wat Doi Suthep, the "Temple on the Mountain," and the most sacred temple in Northern Thailand. According to legend, it was built to hold a bone fragment from the Buddha’s shoulder. One of those bones was mounted on a sacred white elephant, which then climbed Doi Suthep Mountain and stopped near the peak. After trumpeting three times, the elephant lay down and gently passed away in the jungle.
Tuesday, 16 March 2027: Fly to Bangkok; Tuk-Tuk Ride to Wat Pho (B)
Today we fly to Thailand's capital city. Bangkok is known for its mix of tradition and modernity, including ancient temples, vibrant markets, lively nightlife and more. Once settled, we meet up for an evening tuk-tuk ride to Wat Pho, one of the most important Buddhist temples in the country, to see the massive gold-leafed Reclining Buddha. Our tuk-tuk ride continues as we travel to the trendy scene of Chinatown. See the city lit up in its glory while our drivers maneuver among traffic. We'll stop to enjoy a drink at a local bar. Overnight Bangkok - 3 nights
Wednesday, 17 March 2027: Bangkok City Tour; Grand Royal Palace; Flower Market; Thai Massage (B)
Our day begins with a leisurely cruise aboard a long-tail boat as we drift away from the city's high rises to navigate the quiet canals upon which Bangkok was originally built. We'll visit the the dazzling Grand Palace, the city's most renowned landmark. Within the compound are several impressive buildings including Wat Phra Kaew, which houses the small, very famous and greatly revered Emerald Buddha. We'll also visit the largest flower market in the city and stop in at Wat Traimit, home to a 5-1/2-ton Golden Buddha. It's then time to indulge in an authentic Thai massage, which combines compression, acupressure and passive stretching. We arrive back at the hotel late this afternoon.
Thursday, 18 March 2027: Floating Market; Farewell Lunch; Return Home (B,L)
Floating markets are among some of Thailand's star attractions. So we're up early to visit the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, one of the country's most famous. Located about 60 miles outside the city, this market continues the water-based trade that has been part of Thailand's heritage for centuries. We will observe the daily lives of Thai people living and working on the water's edge and experience the explosion of colors, chaos, flavors and atmosphere. You can even enjoy the novelty of buying fresh fruit or a snack from a passing boat. We enjoy a Farewell Lunch and recount our adventures of the week. Many flights to the US depart at night. Schedule your return flight at your convenience any time after 7pm. Transfers are not included, but your Tour Director can provide guidance and assist with organizing ride-sharing based on your departure flight time. If you prefer a morning flight, there is a Late Departure option available (includes breakfast). See the reservation form for pricing.
The Halong Bay cruise portion of this tour is not exclusive to Women Traveling Together and will include other guests. Scheduled stops are subject to change at the discretion of the crew.

Trip Cancellation / Trip Interruption Insurance is not included in the cost of the tour. It is your responsibility to determine the amount and type of coverage you require to recoup some or all of your travel investment, whether you cancel, are unable to complete the tour, or the tour cannot operate. - Select "Yes, I want to share a room" and WTT will assign you a roommate when Final Travel Instructions are sent.
- You can specify a roommate by entering her name where indicated. If your named roommate is not on the tour, for any reason, WTT will assign you a roommate unless you pay to have your own room, if available.

- All shared rooms have 2 beds
- All shared rooms are non-smoking
- No special requests about your roommate can be accommodated

How Active is this Tour?
On all WTT tours, travelers must be able to walk and stand for a sustained period of time. Thus, WTT tours are not suitable for anyone who is physically challenged or walking impaired and who cannot keep up with the moderate pace of the group.
The activities on this tour are rated as follows:

- 70% Moderate (walking distances, climbing many steps at wats, long travel days, long periods of standing)
If you are in doubt as to your ability to meet the physical activity requirements, you should not sign up for this trip.
Read more about Activity Levels
What is the Group Size?
You will be introduced to the WTT Tour Leader when you receive your Final Travel Instructions, about 2-3 weeks before the tour begins.
Learn about your fellow travelers after final payment by visiting MyWTT. Room sharing assignments will be listed in the Final Travel Instructions.
What meals are included and how are dietary restrictions accommodated?
Each day of the itinerary lists the included meals for that day (B,L,D,O=Other). When a meal is not included, the WTT Tour Leader will have suggestions for where to eat.
You do not have to dine alone unless it is your personal choice. You'll most likely be dining with new acquaintances you've made, or you can join the Tour Leader.
Dietary Restrictions on International Tours: WTT has limited to no control over food selections or variety from meal-to-meal, especially at hotels. While we do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions and ensure variety of options, we cannot guarantee either.
What clothing and items should I pack for this trip?
In general the temperature, rainfall and humidity levels vary based on the time of the year. We suggest you monitor weather apps leading up to the time you depart for the most current information.
For This Trip You Will Need—
- Modest clothing that covers shoulders and knees for visiting some temples
- Easy-to-remove shoes/ sandals—you must remove shoes before entering most temples
- Lightweight and breathable clothing to beat the heat and humidity
- Water sandals/ shoes for elephant sanctuary
For This Trip You May Want—
- Shoes that are comfortable for walking
- Refillable water bottle
- Smart-casual wear if you'd like to dress up a bit for dinners
- Lightweight but warm jacket/sweater for the cool mornings and evenings or the unusually brisk day
- Inexpensive rain poncho or travel umbrella, just in case
- Insect repellant and sunscreen
- Swimsuit—Pools are available at many hotels
Good Packing Habits—
- Bring what you need to get a good night's sleep, such as ear plugs, white noise generator, sleeping aids, etc. Unfamiliar noises of all types can disrupt your rest.
- Pack a limited amount of comfortable, casual clothing that layer and coordinate. Your fellow travelers will not mind or even notice – seeing you in the same clothing.
- Bring only two pairs of everyday shoes: one pair of well-broken-in walking shoes, and a second pair that could do double-duty as a walking shoe or a slightly dressy shoe.
- Pare down your beauty regimen to the bare minimum and always pack travel-sized toiletries.
- Pack medication in your carry-on and pack only as much as needed for the duration of your tour plus a few extra days as a precaution.
What are the luggage restrictions for this tour?
On every WTT tour, our policies regarding luggage restrictions are driven by the physical space limitations of the vehicles we use, the requirement that all travelers be able to manage their own belongings without assistance and the restrictions imposed by other forms of transportation such as boats and planes.
- It is best to travel as lightly as possible. Most travelers regret when they have packed too much.
- You may bring one suitcase plus a carry-on bag.
- We recommend your suitcase be no larger than 26 inches high as measured from the FLOOR to the top of the retracted handle to make it easy for you to handle yourself.
- You are responsible for managing your own belongings. We expect you to take your belongings from the coach to your room and to bring it back to the coach on days we change hotels. We do not provide luggage pulls; they are not safe and are inconvenient.
- Steps exist at most hotel entrances. On occasion the coach must unload passengers and luggage some distance from the hotel entrance.
- Keep in mind that you will be traversing airports as part of this itinerary and will need to handle your own luggage through customs. You will need to pay any and all charges you may incur by the airlines from overweight luggage.
- This tour includes multiple regional flights that restrict luggage weight and/or size and may charge a fee for checked or overweight baggage. Any fees are the traveler's responsibility.
What are the health recommendations for this tour?
The standards for health and hygiene throughout Southeast Asia are generally good, though you should avoid ice and tap water and drink only bottled water. There are no specific vaccine requirements for visitors, though the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provides additional guidance at www.cdc.gov. Please discuss any vaccine or health concerns with your healthcare provider.
The possibility of contact with mosquitoes exists in Southeast Asia, especially during the rainy season. It is good practice to avoid being bitten. You can significantly reduce the chance of being bitten by wearing protective clothing (long sleeves and pants) and using a quality mosquito repellent. Consumer Reports recommends brands containing 20% Picaridin or 25% DEET as the best defense against all types of mosquitoes and biting insects. Avoid natural or herbal based repellents as they do not provide adequate protection from being bitten.
What are the phone and internet recommendations for this tour?
Only you can determine your need to stay in contact while traveling.
- You should understand what your current cell phone plan includes in terms of data and minutes. Some, like certain T-Mobile plans, include an international package.
- Contact your cell phone service provider before departing about adding an international calling plan. Most carriers have flat daily rates which will allow your US-based phone to be functional upon arrival in a foreign country.
- Managing data while traveling internationally is important. Using WiFi when available and communicating through apps like What's App help you manage data usage while traveling.
- Learn how to make an international call BEFORE you leave. Consult your cell provider and check out the website www.HowtoCallAbroad.com.
What are the electricity requirements for this tour?
How much money should I bring on this tour?
Only you can determine the optimum amount of cash to take on tour. When budgeting for out-of-pocket expenses, there are several aspects to consider: whether the country you are visiting is a cash-based society, the number of meals you are responsible for, your individual shopping interests and habits, and tipping expectations.
- The official currency for Vietnam is the dong (VND). Many tourist venues accept US dollars, though you will receive change in local currency. Cambodia's monetary unit is the riel (KHR), though USD is the defacto currency and most tourist items are priced in USD. The official currency of Thailand is the Thai Baht (THB).
- Debit cards can be useful for cash advances. ATMs are typically the best way of obtaining local currency as they are found in most airports and tourist destinations. Be judicious about where you use your debit card to minimize fees on cash withdrawals. ATMS of major banks will often give much better exchange rates than currency-exchange kiosks. ATMs are common in Thailand and Vietnam, not in Cambodia.
- Notify your credit card issuer that you will be traveling and provide dates of travel.
- If a merchant gives you the choice between making your transaction in USD or the local currency, always choose the local currency, to avoid dynamic currency conversion which includes a conversion fee.
- Many hotels, large-scale restaurants and shops will accept credit cards. If you plan on making purchases at markets or eating on the street, be sure to have Thai cash on hand.
- Smaller towns and villages will like not take credit cards. Be prepared with cash on hand.
- Exchange money before leaving home or upon arrival. USD may be accepted in some tourist areas but generally Thai Baht is the only accepted currency.
What are the tipping guidelines for this tour?
All tips to drivers and local guides who join the tour to lead individual activities will be paid on your behalf.
- You are responsible for tipping wait-staff, porters, or other individuals who provide a service to you at the hotel, or other public locations.
- Tipping is not standard in Vietnam, Cambodia & Thailand but is appreciated. Rounding up taxi fare for the driver is appropriate. Tipping in restaurants is only expected in upscale locations. A small token for the hotel staff is fine.
- When tipping in Asian cultures, do so discreetly
- You may want to tip your WTT Tour Director for an outstanding job. The amount is entirely a personal preference. If you'd like a guideline, consider $8-$10 per day.
