Itinerary
Wednesday, 31 March 2027: Arrive Amsterdam; Welcome Dinner (D)
Schedule your arrival into Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport no later than 2:00pm and take local transportation (or purchase an optional private transfer) to the hotel. Upon arrival at the hotel, relax or go exploring until our Welcome Meeting at 5:00pm in the lobby of the hotel. After introductions we will depart for dinner to get better acquainted. If you wish to see more of Amsterdam, consider purchasing WTT's Early Arrival Package which includes a walking tour of the city. Overnight Amsterdam - 3 nights
Thursday, 01 April 2027: Flower Distribution Center; Keukenhof Gardens (B)
We get an early start today to travel to Aalsmeer to get a behind-the-scenes look at the world's largest flower trading center, Floraholland, where we'll see millions of flowers being readied for shipping throughout the world. Visiting here is self-directed with signage that explains the process. Some of the flowers you see this morning could be at your local florist the very next day. We will aslo stop at a local tulip cultivator and broker, which is always interesting. We then head to Keukenhof, the world-renowned display garden spanning 70 acres where six million bulbs are planted annually. Keukenhof is the world's largest exhibition of blooming tulips, daffodils and hyacinths. Stroll through the gardens, view the plantings in the three exhibition halls and walk up the windmill for a magnificent view of the brilliant colors in the accompanying bulb fields. We return to Amsterdam late this afternoon.
Friday, 02 April 2027: Free Day; Evening Canal Cruise (B)
Today is yours to spend as you wish in Amsterdam. If you're interested in visiting the Anne Frank House or the Van Gogh Museum, this is the time to do so. You must purchase tickets for Anne Frank House online, typically 60 days in advance, though the timing is subject to change. This is extremely popular and sells out quickly. This evening we enjoy a canal cruise. Founded in the Middle Ages, Amsterdam is comprised of 760 islands separated by nearly 50 miles of canals and connected by more than 1,000 bridges. It's truly a marvel! We'll enjoy wine and Dutch cheese tasting on board as we watch the city light up at night.
Saturday, 03 April 2027: Delft Blue Pottery; Delft Walking Tour (B,L)
This morning we're off to Delft. It's Vermeer’s birthplace and a long-time center for fine hand-painted blue porcelain. We'll stop in at Delft Blue Pottery to learn more about this world-famous ware. This afternoon we'll enjoy lunch together, followed by a guided walking tour of this charming and compact town. The city’s name comes from the Dutch word for digging, appropriate since canals are a highlight here. We'll meander through the historic area, which has one of the most beautiful squares in all of Holland, flanked by the town hall (1618) and the "New Church" (1381) where members of the royal family are buried. We continue on to the Hague where we'll spend the night. Overnight The Hague - 2 nights
Sunday, 04 April 2027: Kinderdijk Windmills; Free Afternoon in The Hague (B,L)
This morning we're up early to make our way to Kinderdijk, a UNESCO World Heritage site featuring a unique collection of 19 authentic windmills, long considered a Dutch symbol throughout the world. We will learn more about the importance of windmills on a narrated boat tour and take a peek inside one of the working mills. To fully access one of the mills, you must climb a steep stairway, backing down to return to the main floor. We return to The Hague this afternoon where there will be a bit of downtime to do as you please. The Hague has gained a reputation as the "legal capital of the world." The city grew from a residence to a palace in the 13th century when various Dutch counts began using it as an administrative center. Today, it's where the Dutch government and parliament, the Dutch Supreme Court, and the Dutch Council of State are all located.
Monday, 05 April 2027: Travel to Bruges via Ghent (B,D)
After breakfast we depart for Ghent, considered by many to be Belgium's most beautiful city. It is like a museum of early Flemish architecture and a testament to the city's medieval might. After a walking tour to better appreciate this underrated city, you will have time to continue exploring on your own. These old medieval city centers are often closed to vehicles and so to visit them, our group will be dropped off at a designated spot and it is a 15-minute walk to reach the starting point of our walking tour. Later this afternoon we continue on to Bruges, a charming town reminiscent of a fairy-tale medieval village where you'll feel transported to another era. Overnight Bruges - 3 nights
Tuesday, 06 April 2027: Walking Tour of Bruges; Brewery Tour & Lunch; Free Afternoon (B,L)
We begin today with a walking tour of compact Bruges to learn more about the history of this lovely city. We'll see the Holy Blood Chapel, the Belfort, Lake of Love and the Beguinage. Our tour concludes at the De Halve Maan Brewery for a tour and beer tasting. Belgium is a beer lover's paradise with more than 1,600 original beer types. In fact, Belgian Beer Culture was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage tradition in 2016. To tour the brewery, you will need to climb quite a few steps to see the process in action. If you are afraid of heights or tight spaces, you probably don't want to take this tour. But should you do it, the rooftop offers lovely 360-degree views over Bruges. The rest of the afternoon is yours to explore or relax. We suggest you try a "walk-away waffle" from a street vendor or find a shop selling "loaded" frites for a light dinner option.
Wednesday, 07 April 2027: Free Day in Bruges; Cooking Class & Dinner (B,D)
Today is your day to explore Bruges as you wish. Your Tour Leader will have a sightseeing itinerary if you'd like to join her. Later this afternoon, we'll take part in a cooking class and enjoy the meal we have made together.
Thursday, 08 April 2027: Return to Amsterdam via Antwerp; Antwerp City Tour; Farewell Dinner (B,D)
Today we return to Amsterdam with a stop in Antwerp, Belgium's second largest city and a hotbed of diamond production accounting for about 80% of all diamond cutting in the world. Though heavily bombed in WWII, Antwerp retains a medieval core with cobblestone streets and an impressive Gothic cathedral. After some time spent exploring this city, we continue on to Amsterdam where we'll stay at a hotel located near the airport for convenience. This evening, we'll gather for our Farewell Dinner. Overnight Amsterdam Airport Area - 1 night
Friday, 09 April 2027: Return home from Amsterdam (B)
Sadly, our time together has come to an end. Make your return flight at your convenience. The hotel offers a courtesy shuttle for a nominal charge that begins operation at 6:00AM. The shuttle departs for Schiphol every 30 minutes. It's about a 15-minute ride from the hotel to the airport.

Mandatory Emergency Medical/Evacuation Insurance is required to take this trip and is not included in the cost of the tour.
Standard health insurance plans often do not cover medical emergencies in other countries. As a solo traveler, insurance is essential to provide support and care coordination in the event of a medical emergency. It must cover air-evacuation from the destination as a result of a medical emergency during the trip.
Suggested companies for Emergency Medical/Evacuation Insurance are: Allianz Travel Insurance and World Nomads.
Trip Cancellation / Trip Interruption Insurance is not included in the cost of the tour. It is your responsibility to determine the amount and type of coverage you require to recoup some or all of your travel investment, whether you cancel, are unable to complete the tour, or the tour cannot operate. Section 4.0 of WTT Terms & Conditions explains what will happen to your payments in the unlikely event that your tour cannot operate. You can purchase travel insurance from any provider you choose. To get an idea of rates, please go to NTA Travel Protection Plan (Enter 206063 for the "Tour Operator Location #") or TravelGuard.

Your Responsibilities as a Solo Traveler
As a solo traveler you are responsible for yourself, your possessions, your physical fitness, and all other aspects related to participation in the WTT tour you have chosen. Be sure to read the itinerary closely to better understand the physical requirements necessary for the tour.
WTT tours are not suitable for anyone whose mobility is challenged or compromised. If you struggle with walking, standing or negotiating stairs or if you are in doubt as to your ability to meet the physical activity requirements, you should not sign up for this trip.
What is the Group Size?
You will be introduced to the WTT Tour Leader when you receive your Final Travel Instructions, about 2-3 weeks before the tour begins.
Learn about your fellow travelers after final payment by visiting MyWTT. Room sharing assignments will be listed in the Final Travel Instructions.
What meals are included and how are dietary restrictions accommodated?
Each day of the itinerary lists the included meals for that day (B,L,D,O). When a meal is not included, the WTT Tour Leader will have suggestions for where to eat.
You do not have to dine alone unless it is your personal choice. You'll most likely be dining with new acquaintances you've made, or you can join the Tour Leader.
Dietary Restrictions on International Tours: WTT has limited to no control over food selections or variety from meal-to-meal, especially at hotels. While we do our best to accommodate dietary requests and ensure variety of options, we cannot guarantee either.
What clothing and items should I pack for this trip?
In general the temperature, rainfall and humidity levels vary based on the time of the year. We suggest you monitor weather apps leading up to the time you depart for the most current information.
For this Trip You May Want—
- Comfortable walking shoes—there are many cobbled streets
- One smart-casual outfit if you’d like to dress up a bit for dinners
- A mix of warm and lighter-weight clothing
- Light or medium-weight jacket for cooler mornings and chillier evenings
- Washcloth or loofah—Many European hotels do not provide washcloths
- Rain jacket or umbrella
Good Packing Habits—
- Bring what you need to get a good night's sleep, such as ear plugs, white noise generator, sleeping aids, etc. Unfamiliar noises of all types can disrupt your rest.
- Pack a limited amount of comfortable, casual clothing that layer and coordinate. Your fellow travelers will not mind or even notice – seeing you in the same clothing.
- Bring only two pairs of everyday shoes: one pair of well-broken-in walking shoes, and a second pair that could do double-duty as a walking shoe or a slightly dressy shoe.
- Pare down your beauty regimen to the bare minimum and always pack travel-sized toiletries.
- Pack medication in your carry-on and pack only as much as needed for the duration of your tour plus a few extra days as a precaution.
What are the luggage restrictions for this tour?
On every WTT tour, our policies regarding luggage restrictions are driven by the physical space limitations of the vehicles we use and the requirement that all travelers be able to manage their own belongings without assistance.
- It is best to travel as lightly as possible. Most travelers regret when they have packed too much.
- We strongly recommend you bring only one suitcase plus one carry-on.
- You are responsible for managing your own belongings. We expect you to take your belongings from the coach to your room and to bring it back to the coach on days we change hotels. We do not provide luggage pulls; they are not safe and are inconvenient.
- Steps exist at most hotel entrances.
- In some cities on this tour, the coach may unload passengers and luggage some distance from the hotel entrance due to restrictions on bus travel. Be prepared for a walk of up to 10 minutes between bus pick up/drop off location and hotel entrance.
What are the phone and internet recommendations for this tour?
- You should understand what your current cell phone plan includes in terms of data and minutes. Some, like certain T-Mobile plans, include an international package.
- Contact your cell phone service provider before departing about adding an international calling plan. Most carriers have flat daily rates which will allow your US-based phone to be functional upon arrival in a foreign country.
- Managing data while traveling internationally is important. Using WiFi when available and communicating through apps like What's App help you manage data usage while traveling.
- Learn how to make an international call BEFORE you leave. Consult your cell provider and check out the website www.HowtoCallAbroad.com.
What are the electricity requirements for this tour?
How much money should I bring on this tour?
Only you can determine the optimum amount of cash to take on tour. When budgeting for out-of-pocket expenses, there are several aspects to consider: whether the country your are visiting is a cash-based society, the number of meals you are responsible for, your individual shopping interests and habits, and cash for tipping.
- Holland & Belgium’s official currency is the Euro (EUR, €).
- Most establishments in these two countries prefer (and sometimes require) the use of credit or debit cards over cash. You should ensure that you travel with at least 2 credit cards due to the reliance on this form of payment. Your credit cards should have a chip, as most do nowadays. Be sure to investigate your card(s) of choice as there are many credit cards that impose no foreign transaction fees and are better for international travel.
- AMEX is not widely accepted.
- Many travelers choose to exchange $100-$200+ into local currency (through their bank or AAA) so they have cash upon arrival for tipping their transfer driver or making small purchases.
- Notify your credit card issuer that you will be traveling and provide dates of travel.
- If a merchant gives you the choice between making your transaction in USD or the local currency, always choose the local currency, to avoid dynamic currency conversion which includes a conversion fee.
- You might also want to have cash on hand for splitting restaurant tabs. More and more, restaurants are not willing to split the bill among multiple credit cards.
What are the tipping guidelines for this tour?
All tips to local guides who join the tour to lead individual activities, as well as drivers, will be paid on your behalf.
- Be sure to tip your transfer driver after you arrive at the hotel.
- We suggest you read up on tipping culture in the various places you will be visiting so you can show your appreciation for any personal service provided with an appropriate gratuity.
- At restaurants, it is customary to tip 5-10% for good service. If your service was just average, consider rounding up your bill. For example, if the bill is €28.50 round up to €30.
- You may want to tip your WTT Tour Leader for an outstanding job. The amount is entirely a personal preference. If you'd like a guideline, consider $8-$10 per day.
