Itinerary
Monday, 25 January 2027: Arrive Miami; Welcome Dinner (D)
Schedule your arrival into Miami International Airport no later than 4:00pm. The tour begins at 6:00pm with our Welcome Meeting in the lobby of our hotel. We will make introductions and then have dinner together to get acquainted and discuss our upcoming adventure. Overnight Miami - 1 night
Tuesday, 26 January 2027: Miami City Tour; Fly to Havana, Cuba (B,D)
We begin our morning with a tour of Miami, which interestingly is the only major US city founded by a woman. It is also home to the world's largest collection of Art Deco architecture and we'll visit the colorful Art Deco neighborhood, along with iconic South Beach and more. This afternoon we fly as a group to Havana, Cuba, known for its history, passion and timeless beauty. Upon arrival, we'll settle in at the hotel, meet our local guide for an orientation and have dinner together. Most of our dinners will be at a paladar, a privately-owned, family-run restaurant, typically operating out of a home, offering local Cuban food and a more authentic experience compared to state-run restaurants. Legalized in the early 1990s, these restaurants provide Cuban entrepreneurs a way to support themselves and allow visitors to directly support the Cuban people. Overnight Havana - 6 nights
Wednesday, 27 January 2027: Havana Walking Tour; Salsa Lesson; Classic Car Ride (B,L,D)
Today begins with a tour of Old Havana. We'll stroll through the old city's cobblestone paths with our guide. Step back in time, discovering Havana's most iconic landmarks and learning about the country's pre-Castro history. Visit Callejon de Hamel, a colorful street arts district. This two block alley is filled with brightly colored murals and mosaics celebrating the Afro-Cuban heritage. We enjoy lunch together and then visit a local Cuban dance academy. Meet local dance instructors and enjoy a lively salsa lesson! This afternoon, we continue our tour in the streets of Havana while riding along in vintage cars! Take in the sights and sounds of the city while our guide shares tales of everyday life. See stunning local plazas and hear how locals are able to maintain these vintage cars despite challenges of sourcing parts. Tonight we enjoy dinner together at a local paladar.
Thursday, 28 January 2027: Museum of Fine Art; Hemingway Home; Vitria Glass Art Project (B,L,D)
We're up for another busy day! We connect with our guide after breakfast and visit the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes. The museum was founded in 1913 and highlights Cuba's artistic identity. Gain insight into the creative pulse that has shaped the island's identity through the collection of Cuban art. Not only is it one of the largest museums in Cuba but it is also home to the largest collection of art in the Caribbean. Then we explore the Cuban home of Ernest Hemingway, Finca La Vigía. This is where he penned some of his most renowned works. The walls themselves resonate with Hemingway's deep connection to Cuba. We continue our journey to Cojímar, a tranquil fishing village that was the inspiration for Hemingway's last novel, The Old Man and the Sea. After lunch together, we explore the Vitria Glass Art Project. Engage with the artists and observe their stained glass creations. This project supports sustainable design, heritage preservation and female entrepreneurship. This afternoon we meet with a local who shares stories of the role of women in Cuban society.
Friday, 29 January 2027: Viñales Valley Farm Tour with Lunch; Dos Hermanas Valley; Mural de la Prehistoria (B,L,D)
Our excursion today takes us to Viñales Valley, a region famous for its landscapes of limestone hills, known as mogotes, and tobacco farms. We begin with a visit to Finca Agroecológica El Paraíso, a family run, organic farm in the hills of Western Cuba where we explore organic farming practices and enjoy a "farm to table" lunch. We then visit a tobacco plantation where we learn about the cultivation and drying process of Cuba's world-famous cigars. This afternoon we visit Dos Hermanas Valley to see the striking Mural de la Prehistoria, painted in 1961 on the rocky side of one of the magotes. It is a depiction of the evolution of life. We return to Havana late this afternoon to enjoy dinner together.
Saturday, 30 January 2027: Local Life; Cuban Cooking & Cocktail Class; Art Studios Tour (B,L,D)
Be ready for another busy day! We begin by experiencing everyday life as a local. We shop in a market and buy ingredients for our hands-on cooking class. Using Cuban pesos with our guide offers a glimpse into how local prices compare to average salaries. Once our shopping is complete, we learn to make Cuban cocktails and dishes based on local ingredients. This afternoon, we visit the Muraleando Community Art Project to see vibrant public artworks. This area used to be treated as a dumping ground but has been transformed into an art gallery. We then explore the Fusterlandia, a local neighborhood turned mosaic wonderland. Local artist José Fuster started the mosaic trend here when he covered his home and studio with works inspired by Gaudi and Picasso. Neighbors joined in and made Fusterlandia what it is today.
Sunday, 31 January 2027: Deaf Community Initiative; Abdala Studios; Artisan Market; Farewell Dinner (B,L,D)
In February 2025, Cuban Sign Language was recognized as an official language in Cuba. Founded in 2008, Cultura entre las Manos offers cultural experiences aimed at the deaf community. Today we visit this creative initiative and learn about their programs and how they have shaped this community. Our next stop is Abdala Studios where we tour the recording studio and are entertained by a live music performance. This afternoon we visit the historic Centro Hebreo Sefardi, the only remaining Jewish synagogue in Cuba. Then we stroll through Havana's largest artisan market, the San Jose Craft Market. Tonight we enjoy our Farewell Dinner together at a local Paladar and reminisce about our Cuban adventure.
Monday, 01 February 2027: Fly to Miami; Return Home from Miami (B)
Sadly, our time together has come to an end. Early this morning we depart for the Havana airport and we fly as a group to Miami. Schedule your return flight home from Miami after 2pm.

Standard health insurance plans often do not cover medical emergencies in other countries. As a solo traveler, insurance is essential to provide support and care coordination in the event of a medical emergency. It must cover air-evacuation from the destination as a result of a medical emergency during the trip.
Suggested companies for Emergency Medical/Evacuation Insurance are: Allianz Travel Insurance and World Nomads.
Trip Cancellation / Trip Interruption Insurance is not included in the cost of the tour. It is your responsibility to determine the amount and type of coverage you require to recoup some or all of your travel investment, whether you cancel, are unable to complete the tour, or the tour cannot operate. Section 4.0 of WTT Terms & Conditions explains what will happen to your payments in the unlikely event that your tour cannot operate. You can purchase travel insurance from any provider you choose. To get an idea of rates, please go to NTA Travel Protection Plan (Enter 206063 for the "Tour Operator Location #") or TravelGuard.

- Select "Yes, I want to share a room" and WTT will assign you a roommate when Final Travel Instructions are sent.

- All shared rooms have 2 beds
- All shared rooms are non-smoking
- No special requests about your roommate can be accommodated

- 25% Moderate (long days with multiple activities)
As a solo traveler you are responsible for yourself, your possessions, your physical fitness, and all other aspects related to participation in the WTT tour you have chosen. Be sure to read the itinerary closely to better understand the physical requirements necessary for the tour.
WTT tours are not suitable for anyone whose mobility is challenged or compromised. If you struggle with walking, standing or negotiating stairs or if you are in doubt as to your ability to meet the physical activity requirements, you should not sign up for this trip.
What is the Group Size?
You will be introduced to the WTT Tour Leader when you receive your Final Travel Instructions, about 2-3 weeks before the tour begins.
Learn about your fellow travelers after final payment by visiting MyWTT. Room sharing assignments will be listed in the Final Travel Instructions.
What meals are included and how are dietary restrictions accommodated?
Each day of the itinerary lists the included meals for that day (B,L,D,O). When a meal is not included, the WTT Tour Leader will have suggestions for where to eat.
You do not have to dine alone unless it is your personal choice. You'll most likely be dining with new acquaintances you've made, or you can join the Tour Leader.
Dietary Restrictions on International Tours: WTT has limited to no control over food selections or variety from meal-to-meal, especially at hotels. While we do our best to accommodate dietary requests and ensure variety of options, we cannot guarantee either.
What clothing and items should I pack for this trip?
In general the temperature, rainfall and humidity levels vary based on the time of the year. We suggest you monitor weather apps leading up to the time you depart for the most current information.
For This Trip You May Want—
- Shoes that are comfortable for walking
- Smart-casual wear if you'd like to dress up a bit for dinners
- Lightweight but warm jacket/sweater for the cool mornings and evenings or the unusually brisk day
- Swimsuit for hotel pool, sunhat, sunscreen, insect repellent.
- First-aid kit and a sufficient supply of regular toiletries (might be difficult to find)
- Over the counter medicine (Tylenol or Motrin) as availability may be scarce.
Good Packing Habits—
- Bring what you need to get a good night's sleep, such as ear plugs, white noise generator, sleeping aids, etc. Unfamiliar noises of all types can disrupt your rest.
- Pack a limited amount of comfortable, casual clothing that layer and coordinate. Your fellow travelers will not mind or even notice – seeing you in the same clothing.
- Bring only two pairs of everyday shoes: one pair of well-broken-in walking shoes, and a second pair that could do double-duty as a walking shoe or a slightly dressy shoe.
- Pare down your beauty regimen to the bare minimum and always pack travel-sized toiletries.
- Pack medication in your carry-on and pack only as much as needed for the duration of your tour plus a few extra days as a precaution.
What are the luggage restrictions for this tour?
On every WTT tour, our policies regarding luggage restrictions are driven by the physical space limitations of the vehicles we use, the requirement that all travelers be able to manage their own belongings without assistance and the restrictions imposed by other forms of transportation.
- It is best to travel as lightly as possible. Most travelers regret when they have packed too much.
- You may bring one standard size suitcase to be stored in the coach luggage hold, plus a small soft-sided carry-on bag (handbag or small backpack). Small wheeled cases are not permitted on the coach.
- We recommend your suitcase be no larger than 26 inches high as measured from the FLOOR to the top of the retracted handle to make it easy for you to handle yourself.
- You are responsible for managing your own belongings. We expect you to take your belongings from the coach to your room and to bring it back to the coach on days we change hotels. We do not provide luggage pulls; they are not safe and are inconvenient.
- Keep in mind that you will be traversing airports as part of this itinerary and will need to handle your own luggage through customs. You will need to pay any and all charges you may incur by the airlines from overweight luggage.
What are the health recommendations for this tour?
What are the phone and internet recommendations for this tour?
- You should understand what your current cell phone plan includes in terms of data and minutes. Some, like certain T-Mobile plans, include an international package.
- Contact your cell phone service provider before departing about adding an international calling plan. Most carriers have flat daily rates which will allow your US-based phone to be functional upon arrival in a foreign country.
- Managing data while traveling internationally is important. Using WiFi when available and communicating through apps like What's App help you manage data usage while traveling.
- Learn how to make an international call BEFORE you leave. Consult your cell provider and check out the website www.HowtoCallAbroad.com.
What are the electricity requirements for this tour?
How much money should I bring on this tour?
Only you can determine the optimum amount of cash to take on tour. When budgeting for out-of-pocket expenses, there are several aspects to consider: whether the country you are visiting is a cash-based society, the number of meals you are responsible for, your individual shopping interests and habits, and tipping expectations.
- The official currency of Cuba is the Cuban Peso. US Dollars are widely accepted (and often preferred). Be prepared with roughly $100 per person per day.
- US credit cards are NOT accepted in Cuba. Make sure you bring cash! It's best to carry cash in small denominations as receiving exact change can be difficult.
- ATM machines most often do not accept US debit and credit cards.
What are the tipping guidelines for this tour?
- You are responsible for Tipping the In-Country Escort who travels with the group.
- We suggest you read up on tipping culture in the various places you will be visiting so you can show your appreciation for any personal service provided with an appropriate gratuity.
- Tips are expected and appreciated.
- You may want to tip your WTT Tour Leader for an outstanding job. The amount is entirely a personal preference. If you'd like a guideline, consider $8-$10 per day.
