Itinerary
Friday, 02 April 2027: Arrive Ushuaia; Welcome Meeting and Dinner (D)
Schedule your arrival into Ushuaia, Argentina no later than 4:00pm. The tour begins at 6:00pm in the lobby hotel with our Welcome Meeting. We'll make introductions and then have dinner together to get better acquainted. Overnight Ushuaia - 1 night
Saturday, 03 April 2027: Tierra del Fuego National Park; Board Ship (B,L,D)
Our day begins with a visit to Tierra del Fuego National Park. We board the End of the World train to travel into the park along an old prison route while admiring the scenery as we go. Our short panoramic tour then continues as our guide shares unique history of the park, it's landscapes and abundant wildlife. Upon returning to Ushuaia, we grab our bags and head to the port to board our floating hotel. Boarding time is at 3pm followed by a mandatory orientation briefing. Our journey begins with a brief technical stop in Port Williams to comply with Chilean customs and immigration requirements before proceeding along the Beagle Channel.
Sunday, 04 April 2027: Beagle Channel; Garibaldi Fjord (B,L,D)
We navigate the legendary Beagle Channel, a dramatic passage carved between Chile and Argentina through Tierra del Fuego—the "Land of Fire," named for the glow of indigenous campfires glimpsed by early explorers. The snow-crowned Darwin Range rises as we enter Glacier Alley, where five monumental glaciers — Holanda, Italia, Francia, Alemania, and Romanche—descend in rivers of ancient ice, calving dramatically into dark waters below. The air may be filled with the crack and rumble of shifting ice. Today culminates in spectacular Garibaldi Fjord, where sheer granite walls frame a massive tidewater glacier.
Monday, 05 April 2027: Straight of Magellan & Tierra del Fuego (B,L,D)
We spend the day at sea, heading south along the Strait of Magellan. We navigate the deep, remote fjords of Tierra del Fuego, entering the protected waters of the Francisco Coloane Marine Park. This sanctuary is a prime feeding ground where, if we are lucky, we may witness humpback or sei whales breaching on the horizon. The waters teem with life, offering chances to see dolphins, sea lions, seals, penguins, albatrosses, and petrels.
Tuesday, 06 April 2027: Bernardo O'Higgins National Park (B,L,D)
Feel the crisp air as we board Zodiacs for a thrilling excursion into the Peel Fjord of Bernardo O'Higgins National Park. Here, we witness the raw power of nature at either the El Brujo or Amalia glaciers. We’ll weave through a labyrinth of floating ice floes, surrounded by the silence of the fjords and the brilliant, icy-blue hues of ancient ice. Between the towering snow-capped peaks, keep your binoculars ready—this wild landscape is home to playful dolphins, elusive otters, and majestic condors soaring high above the rugged cliffs.
Wednesday, 07 April 2027: Messier Channel; Pio XI Glacier (B,L,D)
Our voyage continues south into the Messier Channel to navigate the legendary English Narrows. At just 59-feet wide, this passage offers a privileged, close-up view of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field’s ancient glaciers. In the afternoon, we visit the monumental Pío XI Glacier (also known as the Brüggen Glacier). Named by Spanish explorers after the Pope, this colossal ice giant is the largest western outflow of the ice field and holds the title of the longest glacier in the Southern Hemisphere outside of Antarctica.
Thursday, 08 April 2027: Gulf of Penas; Caleta Tortel (B,L,D)
As we sail south across the Gulf of Penas, take in the sweeping vistas of the surrounding mountain ranges while our expedition team brings the region to life. Hear fascinating tales of the indigenous peoples, the early Spanish colonizers, and the legendary explorers—like Charles Darwin and Fitz Roy—who once charted these wild waters. Weather permitting, our afternoon destination is the extraordinary village of Caleta Tortel. Tucked between the Baker River and the Baker Channel, this settlement is a masterpiece of Chilotan architecture. With no traditional roads, the village is connected by a labyrinth of aromatic Guaitecas cypress walkways that wind along the coast for miles, linking the iconic stilt houses and creating a culture found nowhere else on earth.
Friday, 09 April 2027: San Rafael National Park (B,L,D)
Our adventure plunges into the heart of the Chonos Archipelago for a day of pure expedition. Targeting the Moraleda Channel, we navigate toward the towering San Rafael National Park—a protected UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and gateway to Chile's legendary Northern Icefields. If the weather allows, we will spend the day weaving through a spectacular labyrinth of hidden fjords, emerald channels, and secluded coves — raw, prehistoric wilderness at one of the planet's most remote edges.
Saturday, 10 April 2027: Puyuhuapi Channel (B,L,D)
Our journey continues into the Aysén region, where we explore the areas around Puerto Aysén and Puyuhuapi. The dramatic landscape unfolds as we cruise through a stunning network of fjords, islands, and channels. We aim to visit either Puerto Cisnes, Puyuhuapi, or Magdalena Island, giving us the chance to spot local wildlife, including dolphins, whales, cormorants, sea lions, and river otters. We will regroup for a Farewell Dinner tonight to reminisce about this incredible Patagonian adventure.
Sunday, 11 April 2027: Puerto Montt; Disembarkation; Return home
We arrive in Puerto Montt this morning, where sadly our adventure ends. Schedule your return flight any time after 11am.
The itinerary is subject to change based on unpredictable weather and sea conditions, at the sole discretion of the captain.

As a solo traveler, insurance is essential to provide support and care coordination in the event of a medical emergency. It must cover air-evacuation from the destination as a result of a medical emergency during the trip.
Suggested companies for Emergency Medical/Evacuation Insurance are: Allianz Travel Insurance and World Nomads.
Trip Cancellation / Trip Interruption Insurance is not included in the cost of the tour. It is your responsibility to determine the amount and type of coverage you require to recoup some or all of your travel investment, whether you cancel, are unable to complete the tour, or the tour cannot operate. Section 4.0 of WTT Terms & Conditions explains what will happen to your payments in the unlikely event that your tour cannot operate. You can purchase travel insurance from any provider you choose. To get an idea of rates, please go to NTA Travel Protection Plan (Enter 206063 for the "Tour Operator Location #") or TravelGuard.

What do others say about this tour and traveling with WTT?
How Does Room Sharing Work?
On the Reservation Form there are 3 choices regarding room-sharing.
Note: Certain room-types may be unavailable at the time you make your reservation. If a room-type is unavailable the choice will be greyed out.
- Select "Yes, I want to share a room" and WTT will assign you a roommate when Final Travel Instructions are sent.
- You can specify a roommate by entering her name where indicated. If your named roommate is not on the tour, for any reason, WTT will assign you a roommate unless you pay to have your own room, if available.
- Select "No, I do not wish to share a room" if you want to have your own room. Additional costs apply.
- All shared rooms have 2 beds
- All shared rooms are non-smoking
- No special requests about your roommate can be accommodated
- See "Frequently Asked Questions" TAB for more details
How Active is this Tour?
The activities on this tour are rated as follows:
- 25% Easy
- 60% Moderate (Remoteness, weather, lack of infrastructure)
- 15% Strenuous (varies based on the landing site and desired activity level)
This trip in particular is suitable for adventurous travelers who have full mobility and reasonably good health. Travelers must walk about a mile along fairly flat ground with your hand-luggage to/from the chartered airplane to the boat.
Your Responsibilities as a Solo Traveler
As a solo traveler you are responsible for yourself, your possessions, your physical fitness, and all other aspects related to participation in the WTT tour you have chosen. Be sure to read the itinerary closely to better understand the physical requirements necessary for the tour.
WTT tours are not suitable for anyone whose mobility is challenged or compromised. If you struggle with walking, standing or negotiating stairs or if you are in doubt as to your ability to meet the physical activity requirements, you should not sign up for this trip.
What is the Group Size?
You will be introduced to the WTT Tour Leader when you receive your Final Travel Instructions, about 2-3 weeks before the tour begins.
Learn about your fellow travelers after final payment by visiting MyWTT. Room sharing assignments will be listed in the Final Travel Instructions.
What meals are included and how are dietary restrictions accommodated?
Each day of the itinerary lists the included meals for that day (B,L,D,O=Other). When a meal is not included, the WTT Tour Leader will have suggestions for where to eat.
You do not have to dine alone unless it is your personal choice. You'll most likely be dining with new acquaintances you've made, or you can join the Tour Leader.
Dietary Restrictions on International Tours: WTT has limited to no control over food selections or variety from meal-to-meal, especially at hotels. While we do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions and ensure variety of options, we cannot guarantee either.
What clothing and items should I pack for this trip?
In general the temperature, rainfall and humidity levels vary based on the time of the year. We suggest you monitor weather apps leading up to the time you depart for the most current information.
Ship Details—
- The ship is well heated; it is only when outside that warm clothing is needed. Opt for casual, practical attire that can be easily layered. Wool, silk and synthetic fibers like polar fleece retain heat better than cotton.
- Limit the number of travel size/one-time-use products you pack. There is no place to discard empty containers or baggies. Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, shower cap, slippers and robe are provided on board.
For This Trip You'll Need—
- Waterproof jacket and pants are mandatory for all Zodiac excursions
- Thermal base layer (i.e. long underwear) and thick wool socks
- Fleece jacket or warm, comfortable layer
- Waterproof & insulated gloves, scarf and warm hat
- Closed-toe footwear with good tread (open-toed shoes are not allowed in ship's public spaces)
- Face Protection: Sunblock, moisturizer and lip balm. The air is extremely dry, the sun intense, and skin chaps quickly.
- UV-filtering sunglasses
- Refillable water bottle (ship has filling stations)
- Complimentary waterproof boots (US size 6-16) are provided for use during the tour. These are essential for ALL Zodiac landings as you typically must step out of the Zodiac into water up to 1 foot in depth.
- Day pack and dry bag to protect items that shouldn't get wet
- Binoculars
- Swimsuit for a Polar Plunge
Good Packing Habits—
- Bring what you need to get a good night's sleep, such as ear plugs, white noise generator, sleeping aids, etc. Unfamiliar noises of all types can disrupt your rest.
- Pack a limited amount of comfortable, casual clothing that layer and coordinate. Your fellow travelers will not mind or even notice – seeing you in the same clothing.
- Pare down your beauty regimen to the bare minimum.
- Pack medication in your carry-on and pack only as much as needed for the duration of your tour plus a few extra days as a precaution.
What are the luggage restrictions for this tour?
On every WTT tour, our policies regarding luggage restrictions are driven by the physical space limitations of the vehicles we use, the requirement that all travelers be able to manage their own belongings without assistance and the restrictions imposed by other forms of transportation such as [trains and small planes].
- It is best to travel as lightly as possible. Most travelers regret when they have packed too much.
- You may bring one suitcase plus a carry-on bag.
- We recommend your suitcase be no larger than 26 inches high as measured from the FLOOR to the top of the retracted handle to make it easy for you to handle yourself.
- You are responsible for managing your own belongings. We expect you to take your belongings from the coach to your room and to bring it back to the coach on days we change hotels. We do not provide luggage pulls; they are not safe and are inconvenient.
- Steps exist at most hotel entrances. On occasion the coach must unload passengers and luggage some distance from the hotel entrance.
What are the phone and internet recommendations for this tour?
Only you can determine your need to stay in contact while traveling.
- Basic WiFi is available for browsing and instant messaging on the ship. Upgraded WiFi is available for a fee.
- The excursion ship has internet connectivity in Antarctica, but it can be sporadic and unreliable.
- There is no cell coverage in Antarctica.
- Contact your cell phone service provider before departing about adding an international calling and/or texting plan while in Chile.
- Learn how to make an international call BEFORE you leave. Check out the website www.HowToCallAbroad.com.
How much money should I bring on this tour?
Only you can determine the optimum amount of cash to take on tour. When budgeting for out-of-pocket expenses, there are several aspects to consider: the number of meals you are responsible for, the amount of money you like to have on-hand for snacks and drinks, and your individual habits.
- USD is the standard currency used on board the ship. Both cash and credit cards are accepted as payment for incidental charges made while on board. Purchases on board are settled at the end of the voyage.
- The Argentinean currency is Argentine Peso (ARS).
- The Chilean currency is the Chilean Peso (CLP).
- Due to the remote location, we recommend you have a $200 "emergency fund" on hand in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
- Notify your credit card issuer(s) that you will be traveling and provide dates of travel.
What are the tipping guidelines for this tour?
- You are responsible for tipping the expedition ship's crew (budget $150 - $200 USD).
- You are also responsible for tipping wait staff, porters, or other individuals who provide a service to you at the hotel, or other public locations. It is normal practice in most of Latin America to tip those who provide a service.
- You may want to tip your WTT Tour Leader for an outstanding job. The amount is entirely a personal preference but we suggest $8 - $10 per day.
Can I transfer my deposit to another tour?
To get off this tour and register for another tour, you must follow these steps - in the order shown:
