Itinerary
Tuesday, 24 November 2026: Arrive NYC; Welcome Meeting & Dinner (D)
Schedule your flight to arrive into New York City no later than 4:00pm to have time to make your way to the hotel. Should you arrive earlier in the day, go exploring or relax. The tour begins at 6:00pm in the lobby of the hotel. We will meet as a group then walk to a nearby restaurant to enjoy a Welcome Dinner and get acquainted. Overnight New York City - 4 nights
Wednesday, 25 November 2026: Carriage Tour; Balloon Inflation; Holiday Market (B,L)
Thanksgiving heralds the start of the city's cherished holiday season, and so we begin with a leisurely horse-drawn carriage ride tour through Central Park's winding paths, passing iconic landmarks like Bethesda Fountain and Bow Bridge while soaking in the beauty of this urban oasis. We will then head to the parade prep area to glimpse the balloon inflation process. Be prepared to stand for and hour or two as lines can be long. On average, the balloons are five stories tall and weigh more than 800 pounds! The inflation teams prep nearly all day in anticipation of the parade. After lunch together, join your Tour Leader for a walk along Fifth Avenue, which is considered to be the world's most expensive shopping street. There is no cost for checking out the extravagantly decorated store windows, which have been a holiday hallmark for more than a century. The Winter Village at Bryant Park (a European-inspired holiday market) will be in full swing and there will be time to browse for a gift, pick up a new decoration or souvenir. Even though we're in the "City that Never Sleeps," you may want to get plenty of rest this evening so you'll be ready for tomorrow's big event.
Thursday, 26 November 2026: Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade; Post-Parade Group Meal (B,O)
Happy Thanksgiving! If you're like many Americans, you might have an annual tradition of watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on TV. It was first broadcast in 1948 and became iconic outside of the city itself. It continues to be a popular tradition and boasts 35 million viewers annually. Today, we'll view the parade in person, with about 3.5 million people along the route. Our hotel is on the parade route and there is sidewalk standing room right out front for hotel guests only. We will also have the warmth of an indoor space to view the parade more comfortably - the choice is yours. It typically takes about 3 hours to see the entire parade. Afterward, we'll enjoy a meal together and give thanks. The remainder of the day is yours to enjoy as you wish. Perhaps you'd like to browse the Chelsea Market, housed inside a former Nabisco Factory. It's always decked out for the holidays. Your Tour Leader will have suggestions of things to see and do.
Friday, 27 November 2026: Rockefeller Center; Farewell High Tea; Free Evening (B,O)
Today is Black Friday, the busiest shopping day in the busiest city. Thanksgiving Day is officially over and merchants are now focused on the December holidays. We'll walk to Rockefeller Center where the big tree and ice skaters dominate the landscape. Here, we'll visit the Top of the Rock observation deck for grand vistas. Afterward we will make our way through the multitudes to an elegant Farewell High Tea (subject to availability) in a classic setting with both savories and sweets. With gratitude, we can recount our busy time and fun adventures in Manhattan. We've left the evening free for those who might want to catch a Broadway show or the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City.
Saturday, 28 November 2026: Return Home from New York City
Sadly it's time to return home. Schedule your departure at your convenience. Your WTT Tour Leader can assist with coordinating rideshares for those departing from the same airport.
This is a walking-intensive tour that has us walking up to 5-7 miles in a day, typically on pavement.
In addition crowds, long lines and potentially frigid weather are distinct possibilities.

- Pack medication in your carry-on and pack only as much as needed for the duration of your tour plus a few extra days as a precaution.
