Itinerary
Tuesday, 01 September 2026: Arrive Grand Junction; Welcome Meeting and Dinner (D)
Schedule your arrival into Grand Junction, Colorado, no later than 4:00pm and take local transportation to the hotel. The tour begins at 6:00pm in the lobby of our hotel. We will make introductions and then enjoy a Welcome Dinner to get better acquainted. Overnight Grand Junction - 1 night
Wednesday, 02 September 2026: Dead Horse Point; Arches National Park (B,L)
We travel to Moab, Utah, this morning, stretching our legs with a stop at Dead Horse Point State Park, an immense desert landscape of canyons and high desert woodland. Dead Horse Point features a stunning mesa where we can look for miles across undisturbed natural beauty and 2,000 feet down to the Colorado River. As we arrive into Moab, we'll enjoy a late lunch together before checking into our hotel. We regroup late this afternoon for a visit to the awe-inspiring Arches National Park, which boasts the densest concentration of natural stone arches in the world. Our guides take us past the famous Panorama Point & Petrified Dunes. We enjoy short hikes at the North & South Window Arch as well as the Delicate Arch Overlook. The park is truly a magical place that captures the imagination and spirit of adventure. Overnight Moab - 3 nights
Thursday, 03 September 2026: Colorado River Float Trip with Lunch (B,L)
Today will be filled with spectacular beauty as we climb aboard rafts to head down the legendary Colorado River, which has been carving away rock for the past five to six million years. The name Colorado derives from the Spanish language for "colored reddish" due to its heavy silt load. No experience is necessary to participate in this activity. Most of the water will be flat with the occasional small rapids. There are opportunities to jump in the river to swim if you're so inclined. We will pull up to a riverside resort to enjoy a barbecue lunch at lovely Red Cliffs Lodge. We return to Moab late this afternoon and the evening is yours to enjoy as you wish.
Friday, 04 September 2026: Free Morning; Canyonlands National Park 4X4 Tour (B,O)
This morning is free to spend at you wish. Those who are up for the epic hike to Delicate Arch should plan to do so this morning (not included as part of the WTT tour due to permitting rules). The trail is rated moderate but we have found it quite strenuous, as it climbs a steep slickrock slope with no shade and some exposure to heights. Plan for the hike to take about three hours, including time spent at the arch. While the park does not permit your Tour Leader to accompany you on the trail, she will assist in coordinating those who are interested. Many of the offered tours from Moab take small groups so there is no way for WTT to reserve this in advance of the tour. Midday we’ll head to nearby Canyonlands National Park, a stunning display of geological formations and the largest national park in Utah. The Island in the Sky district sits atop a massive 1,500-foot mesa, offering breathtaking views—on a clear day, visitors can often see over 100 miles in any direction. We'll explore the park’s rugged beauty once again aboard 4x4 open-top Land Cruisers. After returning to Moab, the remainder of the day is yours to enjoy at leisure.
Saturday, 05 September 2026: Return to Grand Junction; Colorado National Monument; Farewell Dinner (B,D)
You have a bit of time this morning to take a short hike, sleep in, or relax around town before we depart Moab mid morning and return to Grand Junction. On the way we stop at Colorado National Monument, which preserves one of the grand landscapes of the American West. We'll drive the historic Rim Rock Drive, which curves and winds up to the mesa tops before descending back to the valley floor. This evening we will conclude our time together with a Farewell Dinner in town. Overnight in Grand Junction - 1 night
Sunday, 06 September 2026: Return Home from Grand Junction (B)
Sadly, our time together has come to an end. Schedule your departure at your convenience. Your Tour Leader can assist with organizing travelers into small groups so you can ride-share to the airport if you wish.

What clothing and items should I pack for this trip?
In general the temperature, rainfall and humidity levels vary based on the time of the year. We suggest you monitor weather apps before you depart for the most current information.
For This Trip You May Want—
- Clothing that can be easily layered
- Sturdy walking or trail shoes with good tread
- Rain jacket
- Fleece jacket for warmth when needed
- Swimsuit—hotels have indoor pools and a hot tub
- Hat, sunglasses and sunscreen
- Refillable water bottle(s)
- Day Pack
- For Rafting—clothes that you will be comfortable in when wet. Sports sandals (such as Teva, Chaco or Keens) are suggested. Flip-flops are not allowed.
- Small Dry bag to keep small items like a phone dry during rafting
Good Packing Habits—
- Bring what you need to get a good night's sleep, such as ear plugs, white noise generator, sleeping aids, etc. Unfamiliar noises of all types can disrupt your rest.
- Pack a limited amount of comfortable, casual clothing that layer and coordinate. Your fellow travelers will not mind or even notice – seeing you in the same clothing.
- Bring only two pairs of everyday shoes: one pair of well-broken-in walking shoes, and a second pair that could do double-duty as a walking shoe or a slightly dressy shoe.
- Pare down your beauty regimen to the bare minimum and always pack travel-sized toiletries.
- Pack medication in your carry-on and pack only as much as needed for the duration of your tour plus a few extra days as a precaution.
What are the luggage restrictions for this tour?
We will use the WTT Coach. Luggage restrictions are driven by the physical space limitations of the vehicle and the requirement that travelers manage their belongings on their own.
- It is best to travel as lightly as possible. Most travelers regret when they have packed too much.
- You may bring one suitcase and a day pack or shoulder bag to keep with you in the coach.
- Maximum suitcase size: 22-24 inches in height. This is the size of bag that fits into the overhead bins of aircraft. Suitcases larger than this will not fit properly in the WTT coach; don't bring them.
- The weight of your bag should not exceed 30 pounds as you will need to lift it into the coach luggage compartment.
- You are responsible for managing your own belongings. We expect you to take your belongings from the coach to your room and to bring it back to the coach and load it on days we change hotels. We do not provide luggage pulls; they are not safe and are inconvenient. The possibility of steps exist at most hotel entrances.
How much money should I bring on this tour?
What are the tipping guidelines for this tour?
All tips to local guides will be paid on your behalf.
- You are responsible for tipping wait-staff, porters or other individuals who provide a service to you at the hotel, or other public locations.
- You may want to tip your WTT Tour Leader for an outstanding job. The amount is entirely a personal preference. If you'd like a guideline, consider $8-$10 per day.
