Itinerary
Monday, 21 September 2026: Arrive Phoenix, Welcome Dinner (D)
Schedule your arrival no later than 4:30pm and take local transportation to the hotel. If you arrive earlier in the day, go exploring or relax until the start of the tour. We will meet in the lobby of the hotel at 6:00pm for introductions and then depart for our Welcome Dinner to get better acquainted. Overnight Phoenix - 1 night
Tuesday, 22 September 2026: Travel to Grand Canyon (B,L)
This morning we're off to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Sit back and enjoy the scenic ride. We'll make a few well-timed stops to break up the approximate 4.5-hour drive. We anticipate arriving at the Grand Canyon about 4:00pm. Once we've checked in to our Grand Canyon hotel, there will be time to leisurely explore our surroundings and get our bearings in the park. Overnight Grand Canyon Maswik North - 3 nights
Wednesday, 23 September 2026: Rim Tour; Afternoon at Leisure; Group Dinner (B,D)
We'll spend this morning on a guided tour as we visit the various overlooks learning about the natural forces that carved this grandest of canyons. We plan to cover 50+ miles on a round trip to the East Rim to take in views of the Colorado River from many vantage points, including Desert View, where Mary J. Colter's Hopi-inspired stone Watchtower is one of the canyon's iconic landmarks (exact tour is subject to NPS availability). This afternoon is yours to enjoy as you wish. Perhaps you'd enjoy hiking down into the canyon part way or even flight-seeing over the river to experience the park in another way. We finish with dinner at El Tovar enjoying its spectacular location overlooking the canyon's rim.
Thursday, 24 September 2026: Personal Day at the Canyon
Today is yours to explore the Grand Canyon as you wish. With all of the varied start times and plans that travelers have on this day, we do not provide a group breakfast. There are morning interpretative Ranger programs, mule rides down into the canyon, walks along the rim, hikes and so much more. Your WTT Tour Leader will help pair travelers with similar interests so you have someone to explore with, or you can venture out on your own if you wish. The park shuttle system is easy to use and runs every 15 minutes or so. NOTE: If you are interested in a mule ride, reservations must be made months in advance (cost not included and must be paid directly to the mule concession supplier). Your Program Manager will provide more details shortly after final payment.
Friday, 25 September 2026: Travel to Sedona; Afternoon Sedona Tour (B,L)
This morning we close our visit to Grand Canyon with a stop at the IMAX theater. We soar above the park on the big screen with IMAX technology. We then make the drive to beautiful Sedona, Arizona, nested among a geological wonderland and share lunch together. We anticipate arriving to Sedona around midday and there will be time to relax and get settled before we hop into open air vehicles for a late afternoon/ evening tour of the highlights in the area. We will learn the history, view the famed red rocks and have plenty of photo opportunities. It's a great way to gain an overview of this unique landscape. Overnight Sedona - 2 nights
Saturday, 26 September 2026: Sedona Personal Day; Farewell Dinner (B,D)
Enjoy a personal day in Sedona, a haven for anyone who loves spectacular scenery and open spaces. The town is famous for the natural red rock formations, as well as for the wonderful artisan crafts that can be found in numerous galleries around town. You can be active and hike, leisurely peruse the arts and crafts shops, lift off on a balloon ride or just bask in the beauty. Your WTT Tour Leader will have many ideas for spending a great day in Sedona. This evening we gather for dinner to reminisce about the great week we've just shared. NOTE: If you are interested in a balloon ride this day, reservations must be made months in advance (cost not included and must be paid directly to the balloon concession supplier). Your Program Manager will provide more details once you've reserved space on this tour.

When to Book Your Air
It is up to you to decide how soon you want to make your travel arrangements, however we recommend waiting until you receive your final payment invoice. You will still have plenty of time to get your air (about 4 months).
Once you have booked your flights (or other transportation arrangements), use the Travel Arrangements Form to send WTT your flight details. Use the same form to update your information should it change.
Airport Transfer Information
Getting from the airport to the hotel (i.e. the arrival transfer) can be a point of concern for some travelers. Locate the "Arrival and Departure Information" -OR- "Want to Arrive a Day Early?" on this page for arrival transfer information.
When arrival transfers are not included: WTT will provide suggestions to get to the hotel in your Final Travel Instructions about 2-3 weeks before the start of the tour. You'll also be able to see who else is arriving at the same time if you want to coordinate ride-sharing to the hotel.
Don't Worry. We're Expecting You: One of the reasons we ask for your travel arrangements is so we know when you're arriving and can approximate when you should be at the hotel. Your Final Travel Instructions will have instructions on what to do and who to contact if your flight is delayed.
Lodging / Hotels
Phoenix: Hilton Garden Inn Phoenix Downtown
Grand Canyon: Maswik Lodge
Sedona: Best Western Plus Arroyo Roble Hotel
Whenever possible, we choose hotels that are near the city center and/or where there are things to do and places to eat within walking distance of the hotel. When the chosen hotel is not within walking distance of much, transportation options, at the traveler's expense, are typically available.
Want to Arrive a Day Early?
Worried about possible flight delays? Consider arriving one day before the official tour start date. Many of our travelers choose this optional service. Your pre-tour package includes:
- The room (standard check-in times apply)
- Breakfast the following morning

$242.00 Roomshare pp $375.00 Single Occupancy
The pre-tour package is an optional service. Rates are established at time of tour posting. Early check-in is solely at the discretion of the hotel and cannot be arranged in advance.
Early Arrival Hotel: This tour uses the same hotel used on the first night of the tour.

What clothing and items should I pack for this trip?
In general the temperature, rainfall and humidity levels vary based on the time of the year. We suggest you monitor weather apps leading up to the time you depart for the most current information.
For This Trip You May Want—
- Swimsuit—our hotel in Sedona has a pool
- Refillable water bottle
- Flashlight—for safe movement after dark at the Grand Canyon
- Sturdy pair of well-broken-in shoes that can do double duty between sightseeing and hiking or trail walking.
- Hat, sunglasses and sunscreen
- Lightweight sweater or jacket for cooler mornings or evenings
- One smart-casual outfit if you’d like to dress up a bit for dinners.
- Bring what you need to get a good night's sleep, such as earplugs, white noise generator, sleeping aids, etc. Unfamiliar noises of all types can disrupt your rest.
- Pack a limited amount of comfortable, casual clothing that layer and coordinate. Your fellow travelers will not mind or even notice – seeing you in the same clothing.
- Bring only two pairs of everyday shoes: one pair of well-broken-in walking shoes, and a second pair that could do double-duty as a walking shoe or a slightly dressy shoe.
- Pare down your beauty regimen to the bare minimum and always pack travel-sized toiletries.
- Pack medication in your carry-on and pack only as much as needed for the duration of your tour plus a few extra days as a precaution.
What are the luggage restrictions for this tour?
We will use the WTT Coach. Luggage restrictions are driven by the physical space limitations of this vehicle and the requirement that all travelers be able to manage their own belongings without assistance.
- It is best to travel as lightly as possible. Most travelers regret when they have packed too much.
- You may bring one suitcase plus small shoulder bag/day pack/purse.
- Maximum suitcase size: 22-23 inches in height. This is the size of bag that fits into the overhead bins of aircraft. Suitcases larger than this will not fit properly in the WTT coach; don't bring them.
- The weight of your bag should not exceed 30 pounds as you will need to lift it into the coach luggage compartment.
- You are responsible for managing your own belongings. We expect you to take your belongings from the coach to your room and to bring it back to the coach and load it on days we change hotels. We do not provide luggage pulls; they are not safe and are inconvenient. The possibility of steps exist at most hotel entrances.
How much money should I bring on this tour?
What are the tipping guidelines for this tour?
- You are responsible for tipping waitstaff, porters, or other individuals who provide a service to you at the hotel, or other public locations.
- You may want to tip your WTT Tour Leader for an outstanding job. The amount is entirely a personal preference. If you'd like a guideline, consider $8-$10 per day.
