Itinerary
Friday, 10 July 2026: Arrive Seattle; Welcome Dinner (D)
Schedule your arrival to Seattle no later than 4:00pm and take local transportation to the hotel. Our first group meeting is at 6:00pm in the lobby, where we will make introductions and then proceed to a casual dinner together to get better acquainted. If you'd like to see more of Seattle, we suggest you add on our Early Arrival package which includes a visit to the Space Needle and Chihuly Gardens of Glass. Overnight Seattle Airport Area– 1 night
Saturday, 11 July 2026: Fly to Glacier Bay via Juneau (B,D)
This morning is a bit leisurely as it is a travel day. After breakfast, we make our way back to the airport for our flight to Gustavus via Juneau. Gustavus is often referred to as the "Gateway Community to Glacier Bay National Park." There are 360-degree views in every direction of snow-capped mountains, local wildlife, in-bloom wildflowers and more. We arrive late this afternoon and get settled for a busy day tomorrow. Overnight Gustavus - 2 nights
Sunday, 12 July 2026: Glacier Bay Boat Tour (L,D)
Today is spent together on the waters of frigid Glacier Bay. We start early. See magnificent tidewater glaciers, ancient snow-capped mountains, whales, stellar sea lions, rare birds such as puffins, coastal bears, seals and much more. Once on board our high-speed catamaran, we'll travel through dramatically different ecosystems - moving from the fully developed rainforest that surrounds Glacier Bay Lodge to the lichen-encrusted rocks that exist on the edges of the massive tidewater glaciers of the park. Midway through the day, the catamaran will arrive at the faces of the Margerie and Grand Pacific Glaciers, two towering masses of ice and snow rising 245 feet above the ocean and stretching another 100 feet beneath. The ice that calves from the face of the two glaciers is an average of 200 years old - so in a way, watching the ice break off of the glaciers is like watching the passage of time. We return to the lodge late this afternoon.
Monday, 13 July 2026: Fly to Haines; Scenic Rafting at Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve (B,L)
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast this morning before we fly to Haines. Located along the continent's longest and deepest fjord, Haines is known for its wildlife and its history as a supply chain hub for "stampeders" during the Klondike Gold Rush of 1896-1899. Upon arrival, we'll visit Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve. This 48,000-acre preserve was created to protect the largest concentration of bald eagles in the world and here we will embark on a scenic float trip that will immerse us in the Alaskan wilderness. The Chilkat River is calm and paddling is not required. Our guides will teach us how to spot bald eagles and share stories about the challenges the species face. We arrive to our hotel late this afternoon where the evening is free to enjoy as you wish. Overnight Haines - 2 nights
Tuesday, 14 July 2026: Day Trip to Skagway; White Pass and Yukon Railroad
We're up early to depart by fast ferry for a day in Skagway. Upon arrival, there will be time to explore this charming town as you wish. Consider walking to Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park or perhaps visit a saloon. This afternoon, we'll take an unforgettable journey aboard the “Scenic Railway of the World” to the White Pass summit. We travel 20 miles and almost 3,000 feet in elevation from sea to summit. Relax in vintage parlor cars as we retrace the original route, passing Bridal Veil Falls, Inspiration Point and Dead Horse Gulch. See the original Klondike Trail of ‘98 worn into the rocks, a permanent tribute to the thousands of souls who passed this way in search of fortune. We return to Haines late this evening. Return ferries are often delayed.
Wednesday, 15 July 2026: Chilkoot Wilderness & Wildlife Viewing; Ferry to Juneau with Alaska Marine Highway (L)
This morning we'll truly feel part of the great Alaskan outdoors as we head to Chilkoot Lake State Park with its turquoise lake surrounded by snowy mountain peaks. As salmon migrate to this area, bears follow. Keep your eyes open for bears along the river's edge looking for their lunch! Our guide will share the history of the area, help spot wildlife and explain the behavior, and discuss Chilkoot's complex ecosystem. This afternoon, we return to Juneau via the Alaska Marine Highway ferry. We'll pass spectacular waterfalls, hanging glaciers, and soaring mountain tops before arriving into Juneau late this evening. Juneau is many things: a mountain town, a coastal community and arguably the most scenic capital city in the US. Overnight Juneau - 2 nights
Thursday, 16 July 2026: Whale Watching; Gold Creek Salmon Bake (B,L)
Today we explore all that Juneau has to offer. Mendenhall Glacier is nearby and so we begin with a quick stop at the visitor center to get up close to an active glacier. We'll then take to the water again for a whale-watching tour in search of humpbacks that migrate here after wintering in Hawaii for the nutrient-rich waters of the area. We'll then enjoy lunch at the Gold Creek Salmon Bake. Nestled in the rainforest, we'll arrive with the aroma of wild Alaskan salmon grilling over the open alder wood fire. We return to the hotel late this evening.
Friday, 17 July 2026: Return Home from Juneau (B)
Sadly, our time together has come to an end. Schedule your departure out of Juneau at your convenience. Based on the departure time you provide WTT, your Tour Leader can assist with organizing travelers into small groups so you can ride-share to the airport if you wish. Cost is not included in tour price.
Weather in Alaska can be unpredictable and may affect tour components. Ferries are often delayed due to weather. Please be flexible.

What do others say about this tour and traveling with WTT?
How Does Room Sharing Work?
On the Reservation Form there are 3 choices regarding room-sharing.
Note: Certain room-types may be unavailable at the time you make your reservation. If a room-type is unavailable the choice will be greyed out.
- Select "Yes, I want to share a room" and WTT will assign you a roommate when Final Travel Instructions are sent.
- You can specify a roommate by entering her name where indicated. If your named roommate is not on the tour, for any reason, WTT will assign you a roommate unless you pay to have your own room, if available.
- Select "No, I do not wish to share a room" if you want to have your own room. Additional costs apply.
- All shared rooms have 2 beds
- All shared rooms are non-smoking
- No special requests about your roommate can be accommodated
- See "Frequently Asked Questions" TAB for more details

Your Responsibilities as a Solo Traveler
As a solo traveler you are responsible for yourself, your possessions, your physical fitness, and all other aspects related to participation in the WTT tour you have chosen. Be sure to read the itinerary closely to better understand the physical requirements necessary for the tour.
WTT tours are not suitable for anyone whose mobility is challenged or compromised. If you struggle with walking, standing or negotiating stairs or if you are in doubt as to your ability to meet the physical activity requirements, you should not sign up for this trip.
What is the Group Size?
You will be introduced to the WTT Tour Leader when you receive your Final Travel Instructions, about 2-3 weeks before the tour begins.
Learn about your fellow travelers after final payment by visiting MyWTT. Room sharing assignments will be listed in the Final Travel Instructions.
What meals are included and how are dietary restrictions accommodated?
Each day of the itinerary lists the included meals for that day (B,L,D,O). When a meal is not included, the WTT Tour Leader will have suggestions for where to eat.
You do not have to dine alone unless it is your personal choice. You'll most likely be dining with new acquaintances you've made, or you can join the Tour Leader.
Dietary Restrictions: On international tours WTT has limited to no control over food selections or variety from meal-to-meal, especially at hotels. While we do our best to accommodate dietary requests and ensure variety of options, we cannot guarantee either.
What clothing and items should I pack for this trip?
At this time of year, daily temperatures in Seattle are likely to be in the 70s-80s during the day. Alaska should be a bit cooler with daytime temps in the mid-60s. Rain is a distinct possibility, both in Seattle and in Alaska. We suggest you check weather apps before you depart for the most up-to-date information.
For this Trip You May Want—
- Comfortable walking shoes with good traction
- Lightweight waterproof jacket
- Casual clothing that is easily layered. You will be thankful for the ability to add and subtract layers.
- Re-usable water bottle
- Medication for motion sickness if you are prone
- Lightweight hat/gloves/scarf—These really keep you warm if it gets unseasonably cold or if you're feeling the effects of glacier-chilled wind, without adding much weight.
- Binoculars—for wildlife spotting
- Sunglasses, sun protection & insect repellent
- Bathing suit & water shoes - for water activities at Glacier Bay such as kayaking
Good Packing Habits—
- Pack a limited amount of comfortable, casual clothing that layer and coordinate. Your fellow travelers will not mind – or even notice – seeing you in the same clothing.
- Bring what you need to get a good night's sleep, such as ear plugs, white noise generator, sleeping pills, etc. Unfamiliar noises of all types can disrupt your rest.
- Pare down your beauty regimen to the bare minimum and always pack travel-sized toiletries.
- Pack medication in your carry-on and pack only as much as needed for the duration of your tour plus a few extra days as a precaution.
What are the luggage restrictions for this tour?
On every WTT tour, our policies regarding luggage restrictions are driven by the physical space limitations of the vehicles we use, the requirement that all travelers be able to manage their own belongings without assistance and the restrictions imposed by other forms of transportation such as small planes, boats and trains.
- It is best to travel as lightly as possible. Most travelers regret when they have packed too much.
- Bring one suitcase no larger than 22 - 25 inches high as measured from the FLOOR to the top of the retracted handle, plus 1 carry-on. The small or medium-size in a 3-piece luggage set easily meets this requirement and will be plenty roomy for this length of trip. Your bag should not weigh more than 50 lbs. The overnight ferry and scenic plane will likely impose weight restrictions.
- Alaska Airlines (flight to Juneau) charges a fee for checked bag (not included and must be paid by traveler directly to Alaska Air) but allows a complimentary carry-on plus personal item. Alaska Seaplanes (flight to Skagway) does not charge any checked baggage fee and does not allow carry-on luggage to stay with you onboard. They will store it in the cargo hold for you on the plane.
- You are responsible for managing your own belongings. We expect you to take your belongings to your room and back to the coach on days we change hotels. In some cases, you will need to manage your luggage while navigating airports and ferry terminals. Several of the hotel properties do not have elevators and may not have staff to readily assist you with carrying large and heavy bags up the stairs.
How much money should I bring on this tour?
What are the tipping guidelines for this tour?
- You are responsible for tipping wait staff, porters, or other individuals who provide a service to you at the hotel, or other public locations.
- You may want to tip your WTT Tour Leader for an outstanding job. The amount is entirely a personal preference. If you'd like a guideline, consider $8-$10 per day.
Can I transfer my deposit to another tour?
To get off this tour and register for another tour, you must follow these steps - in the order shown:
2) WAIT before submitting your new reservation! You must receive the Cancellation Confirmation email before submitting your new reservation. This can take up to 2 business days. The Cancellation Confirmation email will list the amount of parked credits from this tour that are now available to use on a new reservation.
3) COMPLETE the new Reservation Form and USE the parked credits towards your deposit on the new tour.
Note: If you used Parked Credits to pay the deposit on this tour, these credits cannot be used a second time and are not eligible to be transferred.
