Walking is a key component of this tour. On some days, between walking tours and personal exploration you can expect to walk 4-6 miles over the course of a day. In this part of Europe, expect many cobble-stoned walkways and stairs that lead to points of interest. There is simply no way to see these sites without a fair bit of walking involved.

Your Responsibilities as a Solo Traveler
As a solo traveler you are responsible for yourself, your possessions, your physical fitness, and all other aspects related to participation in the WTT tour you have chosen. Be sure to read the itinerary closely to better understand the physical requirements necessary for the tour.

WTT tours are not suitable for anyone whose mobility is challenged or compromised. If you struggle with walking, standing or negotiating stairs or if you are in doubt as to your ability to meet the physical activity requirements, you should not sign up for this trip.

Each day of the itinerary lists the included meals for that day. When a meal is not included, the WTT Tour Leader will have suggestions for where to eat.

You do not have to dine alone unless it is your personal choice. You'll most likely be dining with new acquaintances you've made, or you can join the Tour Leader.

Dietary Restrictions on International Tours: WTT has limited to no control over food selections or variety from meal-to-meal, especially at hotels. While we do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions and ensure variety of options, we cannot guarantee either.

In general, the weather should be pleasant with temperatures in the mid-70s to low 80s. A thunderstorm or rain shower is not uncommon. The sun is very strong along the Adriatic coast. We suggest you monitor weather apps before you depart for the most current information.

For This Trip You May Want—

• Comfortable walking shoes
• Lightweight jacket or sweater for cooler mornings and evenings
• Inexpensive rain poncho or travel umbrella, just in case
• Sunscreen, sunglasses, insect repellent and a hat
• Swimsuit, thin beach towel and flip-flops or swim shoes if you plan to visit the beach as most are pebbled
• Washcloth or loofah, as they may not be available in hotels
• One smart-casual outfit if you'd like to dress up a bit for dinners

Good Packing Habits—

• Bring what you need to get a good night's sleep, such as ear plugs, white noise generator, sleeping aids, etc. Unfamiliar noises of all types can disrupt your rest.
• Pack a limited amount of comfortable, casual clothing that layer and coordinate. Your fellow travelers will not mind or even notice – seeing you in the same clothing.
• Bring only two pairs of everyday shoes: one pair of well-broken-in walking shoes, and a second pair that could do double-duty as a walking shoe or a slightly dressy shoe.
• Pare down your beauty regimen to the bare minimum and always pack travel-sized toiletries.
• Pack medication in your carry-on and pack only as much as needed for the duration of your tour plus a few extra days as a precaution.

On every WTT tour, our policies regarding luggage restrictions are driven by the physical space limitations of the vehicles we use, the requirement that all travelers be able to manage their own belongings without assistance and the restrictions imposed by other forms of transportation such as boats.

• It is best to travel as lightly as possible. Most travelers regret that they have packed too much.
• Bring only one suitcase, preferably no larger than 26 inches high as measured from the FLOOR to the top of the retracted handle. 
• Our transport to Venice is by private boat, which restricts luggage to one piece per person (backpacks are considered a "carry-on bag"). Any extra piece of luggage must be paid for on the spot by the traveler. The extra cost at the time of publication was estimated as €8 per piece with a maximum of 3 extra pieces per boat.
  
• You are responsible for managing your belongings. Upon your arrival in Venice, you will need to take your luggage from the boat dock to the hotel.
• We expect you to be able to take your belongings from the coach to your room and to bring them back to the coach on days we change hotels. We do not provide luggage pulls; they are not safe and are inconvenient.
• Steps exists at most hotel entrances. On occasion the coach must unload passengers and luggage some distance from the hotel entrance.

• You should understand what your current cell phone plan includes in terms of data and minutes. Some, like certain T-Mobile plans, include an international package.
• Contact your cell phone service provider before departing to add an international calling plan. Most carriers have flat daily rates which will allow your US-based phone to be functional upon arrival in a foreign country.
• Managing data while traveling internationally is important. Using WiFi when available and communicating through apps like What's App helps you manage data usage while traveling.

Only you can determine the optimum amount of cash to take on tour. When budgeting for out-of-pocket expenses, there are several aspects to consider: whether the country you are visiting is a cash-based society, the number of meals you are responsible for, your individual shopping interests and habits, and tipping expectations. More and more, restaurants are no longer allowing groups to split the bill. Therefore, you might want to have cash-on-hand for meals on your own when dining with others in the group.

• The Euro (€/EUR) is used throughout this tour.
• ATMs are typically the best way of obtaining local currency; they are found in most airports and tourist destinations. ATMS of major banks often give much better exchange rates than currency-exchange kiosks.
• If using a debit card, it is good practice to limit the amount of cash available in the account and simply transfer money from another account if you need more at any point on tour. Always use caution when withdrawing money.
• Many travelers feel more comfortable having local currency before they depart for the tour. You can order local currency from your bank or AAA.
• Notify your credit card issuer that you will be traveling and provide dates of travel.
• Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted, although many cards charge a foreign transaction fee. Be sure to investigate your card of choice as there are many that do not impose these fees and are better suited for international travel.
• If a merchant gives you the choice between making your transaction in USD or the local currency, always choose the local currency to avoid dynamic currency conversion which includes a conversion fee.

All tips to local guides who join the tour to lead individual activities, as well as drivers, will be paid on your behalf.

• You are responsible for Tipping the In-Country Escort who travels with the group. Consider Euro 50-70.
• We suggest you read up on tipping culture in the various places you will be visiting so you can show your appreciation for any personal service provided with an appropriate gratuity.
• Tipping in Croatia: For restaurant meals 10% tip is sufficient. If you find the service particularly wonderful you can increase. Try to have cash for tipping as sometimes the tips never get back to the server if left on a credit card. For bars, cafes, taxis or other services, tipping is not expected but is welcome. For these you can round up your bill.
• Tipping in Italy: Fees are automatically added to the bill and must be visible on the menu. Normally, just round up the bill a few Euro if you were provided outstanding service. For bars or cafes it's sufficient to leave behind the change if you want to tip. For a regular taxi ride you can round up to the nearest euro.
• You may want to tip your WTT Tour Leader for an outstanding job. The amount is entirely a personal preference. If you'd like a guideline, consider $8-$10 per day.
