Itinerary
Friday, 03 July 2026: Arrive Seattle; Welcome Dinner (D)
Schedule your arrival into Seattle no later than 4:00pm and take local transportation to the hotel. The tour begins at 5:30pm in the hotel lobby where we will make introductions and then depart for our Welcome Dinner. Overnight Seattle area - 2 nights
Saturday, 04 July 2026: Mount Rainier National Park (B,D)
We're off to visit Mount Rainier National Park today. Ascending to 14,410 feet, Rainier is the tallest peak in the Cascades and dominates the skyline for hundreds of miles. We drive through picturesque alpine valleys on our way to the park where we'll see old-growth forests, wildflower-filled meadows and thundering waterfalls. There are multiple hikes, ranging from leisurely to more adventurous, but all promise outstanding mountain views and perhaps a chance to play in the snow. Visit the interpretive center to learn even more about the massive mountain. We return to our hotel this evening.
Sunday, 05 July 2026: Drive to Anacortes; Ferry to San Juan Islands; Island Tour (B,L)
We begin our day by driving to Anacortes, a lovely town located on Fidalgo Island, where we will catch the one-hour ferry to Friday Harbor, gateway to Washington's San Juan Islands. These islands, situated between Canada’s Vancouver Island and the Washington State mainland, lie in the rain shadow of the Olympic mountains and average 240 days of sunshine. Upon arrival in Friday Harbor, we make our way to the hotel and get settled. This afternoon we will enjoy a picnic lunch before embarking on a tour of this pastoral island. We take in views of the island's farmlands, lighthouses and more. Overnight Friday Harbor - 2 nights
Monday, 06 July 2026: Half-Day Kayaking; Free Afternoon (B)
Today we take to the water on stable, two-person sea kayaks. Anyone who is comfortable around water can readily take part in this incredible experience. The San Juan Islands have been a sea kayak tour destination for years and there are boundless opportunities to observe and learn more about the fascinating marine life that call this area home. The waters around the San Juans are home to several resident orca pods and while glimpsing them isn't guaranteed, the expansive views of the Olympic and Cascade mountains are. The remainder of the afternoon is yours to explore this charming harbor town.
Tuesday, 07 July 2026: Return Ferry; Drive to Seattle (B,L)
This morning after breakfast we will reboard the ferry and return to Anacortes. After reuniting with our coach, we will stop for a quick lunch and then make our way to downtown Seattle. Overnight Seattle - 2 nights
Wednesday, 08 July 2026: Space Needle & Chihuly Garden of Glass; Free Afternoon; Farewell Dinner (B,D)
We begin today at Seattle Center, a downtown greenspace that is home to the city's most iconic building, the Space Needle, which has been recently renovated. We will ride to the top for unparalleled views of downtown Seattle, Mount Rainier, and the Puget Sound. Right next to the Space Needle is a world where curiosity, creativity and color come to life, Chihuly Garden and Glass, and we'll enjoy a visit here. Afterward, the afternoon is free for you to do as you please. Consider joining your Tour Leader on a visit to Pike Place Market, the oldest continuously operating market in the nation and the heart and soul of downtown. Later this evening, we will regather to enjoy a Farewell Dinner together tonight and recall our highlights of the trip.
Thursday, 09 July 2026: Return Home from Seattle (B)
Sadly, our time in the Evergreen State has come to an end. Schedule your flight home at your convenience. Departure transfers are not included but your Tour Leader can assist with organizing travelers into small groups to ride-share to the airport if you wish.

What do others say about this tour and traveling with WTT?
How Does Room Sharing Work?
On the Reservation Form there are 3 choices regarding room-sharing.
Note: Certain room-types may be unavailable at the time you make your reservation. If a room-type is unavailable the choice will be greyed out.
- Select "Yes, I want to share a room" and WTT will assign you a roommate when Final Travel Instructions are sent.
- You can specify a roommate by entering her name where indicated. If your named roommate is not on the tour, for any reason, WTT will assign you a roommate unless you pay to have your own room, if available.
- Select "No, I do not wish to share a room" if you want to have your own room. Additional costs apply.
- All shared rooms have 2 beds
- All shared rooms are non-smoking
- No special requests about your roommate can be accommodated
- See "Frequently Asked Questions" TAB for more details

What meals are included and how are dietary restrictions accommodated?
Each day of the itinerary lists the included meals for that day (B,L,D,O=Other). When a meal is not included, the WTT Tour Leader will have suggestions for where to eat.
You do not have to dine alone unless it is your personal choice. You'll most likely be dining with new acquaintances you've made, or you can join the Tour Leader.
Dietary Restrictions: Vegetarian and gluten-free dietary restrictions can be accommodated on this tour with limited selections.
What clothing and items should I pack for this trip?
Daytime temperatures are likely to be in the low to mid-70s, dropping to low 60s at night. Rain drizzle and overcast skies are common for the Pacific Northwest, though we should hopefully see sun while in Friday Harbor. We suggest you monitor weather apps leading up to the time you depart for the most current information.
For This Trip You May Want--
- Fleece jacket
- Lightweight gloves and/or hat for potential cooler temperatures on Mt. Rainier.
- One smart-casual outfit if you'd like to dress up a bit for dinners.
- Pacific Northwest weather is notoriously fickle. If it is warm, shorts and a short-sleeve T-shirt will be fine. Dress according to the weather and for water. Bring extra layers (fleece works well) in case you get wet or cold. These can be stored in your kayak in vendor-provided dry bags.
- Avoid cotton; quick-drying materials such as nylon or other synthetic fabric, will be more comfortable.
- Shoes with good traction that can get wet, such as Keens or Tevas; no flip-flops
- Brimmed hat, sunglasses, sunscreen
- In addition to the dry bags for gear, the kayaking outfitter will also provide water/wind resistant paddling jacket and paddling pants if needed for comfort while on the water.
Good Packing Habits—
- Bring what you need to get a good night's sleep, such as ear plugs, white noise generator, sleeping aids, etc. Unfamiliar noises of all types can disrupt your rest.
- Pack a limited amount of comfortable, casual clothing that layer and coordinate. Your fellow travelers will not mind or even notice – seeing you in the same clothing.
- Bring only two pairs of everyday shoes: one pair of well-broken-in walking shoes, and a second pair that could do double-duty as a walking shoe or a slightly dressy shoe.
- Pare down your beauty regimen to the bare minimum and always pack travel-sized toiletries.
- Pack medication in your carry-on and pack only as much as needed for the duration of your tour plus a few extra days as a precaution.
What are the luggage restrictions for this tour?
We will use the WTT Coach. Luggage restrictions are driven by the physical space limitations of this vehicle and the requirement that all travelers be able to manage their own belongings without assistance.
- It is best to travel as lightly as possible. Most travelers regret when they have packed too much.
- You may bring one suitcase plus small shoulder bag/day pack/purse.
- Maximum suitcase size: 22-23 inches in height. This is the size of bag that fits into the overhead bins of aircraft. Suitcases larger than this will not fit properly in the WTT coach; don't bring them.
- You are responsible for managing your own belongings. We expect you to take your belongings from the coach to your room and to bring it back to the coach and load it on days we change hotels. We do not provide luggage pulls; they are not safe and are inconvenient. The possibility of steps exist at most hotel entrances.
How much money should I bring on this tour?
What are the tipping guidelines for this tour?
All tips to local guides will be paid on your behalf.
- You are responsible for tipping individual transfer drivers whether they are booked by you or WTT, waitstaff, porters, or other individuals who provide a service to you at the hotel, or other public locations.
- You may want to tip your WTT Tour Leader for an outstanding job. The amount is entirely a personal preference. If you'd like a guideline, consider $8-$10 per day.
Can I transfer my deposit to another tour?
