Itinerary
Sunday, 28 June 2026: Arrive Edmonton; Welcome Dinner (D)
Schedule your flight into Edmonton to arrive no later than 4:00pm and take local transportation to the hotel. The tour begins at 6:00pm in the lobby of our hotel. After our Welcome Meeting we will enjoy a Welcome Dinner and get better acquainted. Overnight Edmonton - 1 night
Monday, 29 June 2026: Travel to Jasper; Beaver Boardwalk (B,D)
Leaving Edmonton, we make our way west toward Jasper. This is a long travel day but we will break the drive up with a few stops to stretch our legs. One of our stops is in the small town of Hinton to walk the Beaver Boardwalk which showcases Canada's national animal. At nearly 2 miles, this is the world's longest freshwater boardwalk. Our end destination is the cute town of Jasper, nestled within Jasper National Park. We will enjoy dinner together this evening. Overnight Jasper - 2 nights
Tuesday, 30 June 2026: Jasper National Park; Maligne Lake Boat Ride (B,L)
Jasper National Park is the largest and most northerly of Canada's mountain parks. Our day of sightseeing includes many lookout points with canyons, hot springs, glaciers, waterfalls and more. We make our way to Maligne Canyon, one of the park's most incredible landmarks. We will stroll along the towering walls and learn about the unique underground water system and the mystery of the disappearing lake. Medicine Lake is known for leaking into sinkholes and disappearing during the winter. After lunch together, we ply the serene waters of the Maligne Lake as we cruise to Spirit Island. This is one of the most photographed spots in the Canadian Rockies. After a day filled with majestic peaks, abundant wildlife and outstanding natural beauty, we will return to our hotel.
Wednesday, 01 July 2026: Explore Athabasca Glacier; Lake Louise; Onto Banff (B)
If you came to the Canadian Rockies to see jaw-dropping views, today will not disappoint. The Icefield Parkway is known as one of the most scenic drives in the world. This road is flanked with majestic mountain peaks, turquoise lakes, more than 100 glaciers and spectacular waterfalls. There is a good chance to see wildlife, such as bighorn sheep, mountain goats, deer, moose or even a grizzly or black bear. We will stop at the Athabasca Glacier, which is only part of the massive Columbia Icefield. We explore this 10,000-year-old sheet of ice via all terrain vehicles and have a chance to briefly walk around. We will make additional stops at Peyto and Bow Lakes as well as Lake Louise before reaching the deep teal waters of Moraine Lake. The lake's rugged and remote setting in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, accessed via a narrow winding road, only adds to the allure. Our day ends in Banff where the evening is yours to enjoy as you wish. Overnight Banff - 2 nights
Thursday, 02 July 2026: Banff National Park (B,D)
Today we explore Banff National Park, Canada's first National Park, and its many lakes. The color of these mountain lakes are ethereal. As glacial silt flows into the waters, it is suspended, creating the dazzling blues and greys as the sun reflects upon the particles. This afternoon, we will take in additional views of the park from the vantage point of the Banff Gondola. After this enjoyable day, we'll have dinner together.
Friday, 03 July 2026: Travel to Calgary; Farewell Lunch; Rodeo & Stampede Activities (B,L)
Today, we head to Calgary. Set in the rolling foothills against the majestic Canadian Rockies to the west and the Great Plains to the east, Calgary offers the stimulating big-city life mixed with wilderness adventure. We'll enjoy a Farewell Lunch before we make our way to the world-famous Stampede Rodeo. Cowgirls and cowboys compete in a furious display of skill and grit, with every win building toward the final showdown. The rodeo features six major events; bareback riding, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, tie down roping, barrel racing and bull riding. We return in the evening for the doubleheader, the Rangeland Derby and the Bell Grandstand Show. It's certain to be a lively and exciting evening show. This show does go late into the evening.
Saturday, 04 July 2026: Return Home from Calgary (B)
Sadly, our time together has come to an end. Schedule your return flight at your convenience. Departure transfers are not included but your Tour Leader can assist with organizing travelers into small groups to ride-share to the airport if you wish. NOTE: If you wish to stay in Calgary today and fly home on the 5th, there is a post-tour optional hotel night - single occupancy - available (excludes breakfast). See the reservation form for pricing.

- All shared rooms have 2 beds

What clothing and items should I pack for this trip?
While the weather is generally pleasant this time of year with average highs in the mid 70s and average lows in the low 50s, Banff is considerably cooler with the highs in the mid-50a and an average low in the mid-30s. The possibility of warmer or cooler conditions always exists. Occasional brief afternoon thundershowers can exist in the mountains. Check weather apps before you depart for the most current information.
You May Need—
- Hiking shoes with good tread
- Warm, rain jacket
- Comfortable clothing that can be easily layered
- Bug repellent
- Refillable water bottle
- Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat
You May Want--
- Swimsuit
- Binoculars
- Cowboy hat, buckle and boots (but only if it fits in your suitcase)
Good Packing Habits—
- Bring what you need to get a good night's sleep, such as ear plugs, white noise generator, sleeping aids, etc. Unfamiliar noises of all types can disrupt your rest.
- Pack a limited amount of comfortable, casual clothing that layer and coordinate. Your fellow travelers will not mind or even notice – seeing you in the same clothing.
- Pare down your beauty regimen to the bare minimum and always pack travel-sized toiletries.
- Pack medication in your carry-on
What are the luggage restrictions for this tour?
We will be using a chartered bus for this tour. On every WTT tour, our policies regarding luggage restrictions are driven by the physical space limitations of the vehicles we use and the requirement that all travelers be able to manage their own belongings without assistance.
- It is best to travel as lightly as possible. Most travelers regret when they have packed too much.
- You may bring only one suitcase that is a size you are able to manage on your own. Be sure to check your airline luggage policies.
- We recommend your suitcase be no larger than 26 inches high as measured from the FLOOR to the top of the retracted handle to make it easy for you to handle yourself.
- You are responsible for managing your own belongings. We expect you to take your belongings from to and from the coach on days we change hotels. We do not provide luggage pulls; they are not safe and are inconvenient.
- Steps exist at most hotel entrances and in some cases, narrow streets preclude large coaches from dropping in front of hotels. You may need to walk some distance with your luggage.
What are the phone and internet recommendations for this tour?
- Your US cell phone will work in Canada, however, service may be limited at times. Some cell providers charge roaming fees. Be sure to check with your cell provider before leaving home to see what plans they may offer to reduce the cost of using your phone outside the US. Some providers offer Canada-only plans at reasonable rates.
- When calling a Canadian number from your US cellphone, you will need to dial +1 before the area code.
How much money should I bring on this tour?
- Canada’s official currency is the Canadian Dollar (CAD).
- ATMs are typically the best way of obtaining local currency; they are found in most airports and tourist destinations.
- Places may accept US dollars, however expect your change to be in CAD. It is better to exchange money at an official money exchange where you get a better rate than what local merchants provide.
- Notify your credit card issuer that you will be traveling and provide dates of travel. Credit cards are widely accepted in Canada.
What are the tipping guidelines for this tour?
All tips to local guides during your tour will be paid on your behalf.
- You are responsible for tipping waitstaff, porters, or other individuals who provide a service to you at the hotel, or other public locations.
- Tipping in Canada is similar to tipping customs in the US.
- Many restaurants will include the tip on the bill if you are with a large group. Be sure to check.
- You may want to tip your WTT Tour Leader for an outstanding job. The amount is entirely a personal preference. If you'd like a guideline, consider $8-$10 per day.
