Itinerary
Friday, 24 July 2026: Arrive Halifax, Nova Scotia; Welcome Dinner (D)
Schedule your arrival into Halifax no later than 4:00pm and take local transportation to the hotel. The tour begins at 6:00pm in the lobby of our hotel. We will make introductions at our Welcome Meeting and then enjoy a Welcome Dinner to become better acquainted. Overnight Halifax - 1 night
Saturday, 25 July 2026: Prince Edward Island; Charlottetown Walking Tour (B,L)
We depart Halifax this morning headed north across Nova Scotia. After crossing the 8-mile-long Confederation Bridge, considered one of Canada's top engineering achievements, we reach Prince Edward Island, Canada's smallest province. Our ultimate destination is Charlottetown, dubbed “The Birthplace of Canada” and the capital city of PEI. A walking tour of Charlottetown is the best way to get to know the area, and that's just what we'll do, savoring the postcard-perfect streetscapes. Overnight Charlottetown - 2 nights
Sunday, 26 July 2026: PEI National Park: Cavendish; Anne of Green Gables (B,L)
Prince Edward Island is known as the "Garden of the Gulf" for its pastoral landscape. Dunes and red sandstone bluffs provide stunning backdrops for some of the island’s finest stretches of sand. We will visit PEI National Park to discover the stunning beauty of the island's North Shore. This is the land that inspired Lucy Maud Montgomery’s classic novel, Anne of Green Gables. We'll spend time visiting the Green Gables Heritage Place—the setting for the novel. You may want to stroll along one of the many trails here. We return to Charlottetown this evening.
Monday, 27 July 2026: Hopewell Rocks; Saint John, New Brunswick (B,D)
We depart for Hopewell Cape in New Brunswick this morning where time and tides have carved distinctive sandstone formations from the cliffs and coves. This day involves a lot of driving but it's well worth it. The highest tides in the world occur in the Bay of Fundy and have been recorded as high as a four-story building. During low tide, it is possible to walk on the ocean floor where rock formations look like giant flower pots. We continue on to Saint John, known as "Canada’s Original City" arriving in the evening. Saint John was incorporated in 1785 although the impressive history of the town dates to the 1500s when Norman fishermen entered what is now known as Saint John Harbor. Overnight Saint John - 2 nights
Tuesday, 28 July 2026: Fundy Trail Parkway (B,L)
The Fundy Trail Parkway opened up previously unreachable areas of the Bay of Fundy coastline, hugging the southern coast of New Brunswick and providing stunning views in every direction. We'll drive this road and see how it hugs the coastal cliffs, stopping to enjoy many of the 21 lookouts, 14 observation decks, 19 hiking paths and 4 waterfalls. We will have a late lunch together in St. Martins where sandstone caves have formed from the repeated motion of the ocean waves. We return to Saint John this evening.
Wednesday, 29 July 2026: Ferry from New Brunswick to Nova Scotia (B)
We are up early this morning to bid farewell to Saint John to make our way back to Halifax. This is a full travel day. We begin aboard the ferry for a 2.5-hour crossing of the breathtaking Bay of Fundy between Saint John, New Brunswick and Digby, Nova Scotia. Feel free to stroll the decks and search the bay for a sighting of sea life during our crossing. We then make our way to Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that features the best surviving example of a planned British colonial settlement in North America. Lunenburg is also home to Canada's largest fishing fleet. We arrive to Halifax late this afternoon. Overnight Halifax - 2 nights
Thursday, 30 July 2026: Peggy's Cove; Farewell Dinner (B,D)
Today, our adventures take us to the charming fishing village of Peggy’s Cove (Population 35!), which is arguably the most photographed location in all of Canada. We will enjoy time to meander about this cute town. The lighthouse is located at the very end of Peggy’s Point Road, which is a lovely walk down the village's only road. As we return to Halifax, we are provided with glimpses of many scenic inlets and coves, historic lighthouses and stunning scenery. We gather one last time to enjoy a Farewell Dinner together and recount our adventures of the week.
Friday, 31 July 2026: Return Home from Halifax (B)
Sadly, our time together has come to an end. Make your return flight at your convenience. Transfers are not included. However, your Tour Leader can assist with coordinating rideshares to the airport, which is a 10-minute ride from the hotel.

- All shared rooms have 2 beds
- All shared rooms are non-smoking
- No special requests about your roommate can be accommodated

What clothing and items should I pack for this trip?
In general this time of year, Halifax and the Maritime Provinces experience daytime temperatures in the 60s to 70s with nighttime temperatures in the mid-40s. Rain and wind are common. We suggest you monitor weather apps leading up to time of departure for the most current information.
For This Trip You May Want—
- Clothing that easily layers
- One warmer sweater or fleece for cool evenings
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Refillable water bottle
- Sunscreen and sunglasses and/or a hat
- Appropriate outerwear for possible inclement weather, like a rain jacket
Good Packing Habits—
- Pack a limited amount of comfortable, casual clothing that layer and coordinate. Your fellow travelers will not mind – or even notice – seeing you in the same clothing.
- Bring what you need to get a good night's sleep, such as ear plugs, white noise generator, sleeping pills, etc. Unfamiliar noises of all types can disrupt your rest.
- Bring only two pairs of everyday shoes: one pair of well-broken-in walking shoes, and a second pair that could do double-duty as a walking shoe or a slightly dressy shoe.
- Pare down your beauty regimen to the bare minimum and always pack travel-sized toiletries.
- Pack medication in your carry-on and pack only as much as needed for the duration of your tour plus a few extra days as a precaution.
What are the luggage restrictions for this tour?
On every WTT tour, our policies regarding luggage restrictions are driven by the physical space limitations of the vehicles we use and the requirement that all travelers be able to manage their own belongings without assistance.
- It is best to travel as lightly as possible. Most travelers regret when they have packed too much.
- You may bring one suitcase plus small shoulder bag/day pack/purse. Your suitcase should be a size you can manage on your own. Be sure to check your airline luggage policies.
- You are responsible for managing your own belongings. We expect you to take your belongings to and from the coach on days we change hotels. We do not provide luggage pulls; they are not safe and are inconvenient.
- Steps exist at most hotel entrances. On occasion the coach must unload passengers and luggage some distance from the hotel entrance.
What are the phone and internet recommendations for this tour?
- Your US cell phone will work in Canada but some cell providers charge roaming fees. Be sure to check with your cell provider before leaving home to see what plans they may offer to reduce the cost of using your phone outside the US. Some providers offer Canada-only plans at reasonable rates.
- When calling a Canadian number from your US cellphone, you will need to dial +1 before the area code.
How much money should I bring on this tour?
Only you can determine the optimum amount of cash to take on tour. When budgeting for out-of-pocket expenses, there are several aspects to consider: the number of meals you are responsible for, the amount of money you like to have on-hand for snacks and drinks, your individual shopping interests and habits, and money for tipping.
- Canada’s official currency is the Canadian Dollar (CAD).
- ATMs are typically the best way of obtaining cash; they are found in most towns and cities. Canadian dollars can be withdrawn from any ATM. Use a debit card to avoid additional exchange fees.
- Many places accept US dollars, however expect your change to be in CAD. It is better to exchange money at an official money exchange where you get a better rate than what local merchants provide.
- Notify your credit card issuer that you will be traveling and provide dates of travel. Credit cards are widely accepted in Canada.
What are the tipping guidelines for this tour?
All tips to local guides during your tour will be paid on your behalf.
- You are responsible for tipping waitstaff, porters, or other individuals who provide a service to you at the hotel, or other public locations.
- Canada has tipping customs similar to those in the US.
- You may want to tip your WTT Tour Leader for an outstanding job. The amount is entirely a personal preference. If you'd like a guideline, consider $8-$10 per day.
