Schedule your arrival into Halifax no later than 4:00pm. We will get together at the hotel at 6:00pm for our Welcome Meeting followed by dinner and a chance to get to know one another. Overnight Halifax - 2 nights
Sunday, 26 July 2020: Halifax City Walking Tour; Free Time (B)
Enjoy a walking tour and learn about the historical, cultural, political and military significance of Halifax’s landmarks. The remainder of the day is free to explore Halifax with your fellow travelers. Your WTT Tour Leader will have suggestions to make the most of your free time.
Monday, 27 July 2020: Prince Edward Island; Charlottetown Tour (B,D)
Today we drive to Prince Edward Island where our destination is Charlottetown, known as “The Birthplace of Canada” and the capital city of PEI. A tour of Charlottetown is the best way to get to know the area, and that's just what we'll do. Tonight we have dinner together. Overnight Charlottetown - 2 nights
Tuesday, 28 July 2020: Prince Edward Island; Cavendish; Anne of Green Gables (B,L)
Prince Edward Island is known as the "Garden of the Gulf" for its pastoral landscape. Dunes and red sandstone bluffs provide stunning backdrops for some of the island’s finest stretches of sand. This dramatic coast, and the narrow sections of wetland and forest behind it, is home to a diverse collection of plants and animals. We will visit the National Park to meander along a few easy walking trails, and enjoy a picnic lunch at the Anne of Green Gables House—the inspiration for Lucy Maud Montgomery’s classic novel. We return to Charlottetown this evening.
Wednesday, 29 July 2020: Hopewell Rocks; Saint John, New Brunswick (B,D)
After breakfast we travel to Hopewell Rocks where time and tides have carved distinctive sandstone formations from the cliffs and coves. The highest tides in the world occur in the Bay of Fundy and have been recorded as high as a four-story building. During low tide, it is possible to walk on the ocean floor. We continue on to Saint John, known as "Canada’s Original City." It was incorporated in 1785 although the impressive history of Saint John dates to the 1500s when Norman fishermen entered what is now known as Saint John Harbor. The city has a diverse history, tradition and natural beauty. Overnight Saint John - 2 nights
Thursday, 30 July 2020: Saint John Fundy Trail; Free Time in Saint John (B)
The Fundy Trail opens up previously unreachable areas of the Bay of Fundy coastline. Skirting cliff tops above the world’s highest tides, the Fundy Trail winds its way along one of the last remaining coastal wilderness areas between Florida and Labrador. The Trail has stunning ocean views above the caves of St. Martins and to the deep pools and rapids of Big Salmon River. After spending time on the trail, we return to Saint John where the remainder of the day is free to do as you wish.
Friday, 31 July 2020: Saint John City Market; Ferry to Annapolis Royal (B)
Schedule permitting, we visit the City Market in the morning before the ferry leaves for Nova Scotia. The oldest continuing farmer's market in Canada, it forms the historic centerpiece of a revitalized city center. The ferry is a 3-hour crossing so feel free to stroll the decks and search the bay for a sighting of sea life. Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia is a beautiful community nestled in the Annapolis Valley. Originally inhabited by a strong Mi’kmaq community, in 1605 the area became home to some of North America’s earliest European settlers. Overnight Annapolis Royal - 1 night
Saturday, 01 August 2020: Lunenburg Visit; Halifax (B,L)
Our next stop is Lunenburg, the best surviving example of a planned British colonial settlement in North America. Established in 1753, it has retained its original layout and overall appearance, based on a rectangular grid pattern drawn up in the home country. The inhabitants have managed to safeguard the city's identity by preserving the wooden architecture of the houses, some of which date from the 18th century. Lunenburg is a UNESCO World Heritage Center. We continue on to Halifax for the night. Overnight Halifax - 2 nights
Sunday, 02 August 2020: Day Trip to Peggy's Cove; Farewell Dinner (B,D)
Today we head to Peggy’s Cove, the most visited place in Canada. Discover history in its natural setting. Learn about tales of great bravery, tragedy and triumph of the human spirit as we travel the Coastal Heritage Trail - a Museum Without Walls. The roads and villages are full of living history. Heritage homes and historic churches are around every corner. As we continue to Halifax, we will glimpse many scenic inlets and coves. The historic lighthouses and stunning scenery are the star attractions.
Monday, 03 August 2020: Return Home from Halifax (B)
Sadly, our time together has come to an end. Based on the departure time you provide WTT, your Tour Leader will organize travelers into small groups so you can ride-share to the airport if you wish.

What clothing and items should I pack for this trip?
In general this time of year, Halifax and the Maritime Provinces experience daytime temperatures in the 60s to 70s with nighttime temperatures in the mid-40s. Rain and wind are common.
For This Trip You May Want—
- One smart-casual outfit if you’d like to dress up a bit for dinners.
- Inexpensive rain poncho, just in case!
- Lightweight but warm jacket for cooler days and evenings
- Insect repellent and sunscreen
- Bring what you need to get a good night's sleep, such as ear plugs, white noise generator, sleeping pills, etc. Unfamiliar noises of all types can disrupt your rest.
Good Packing Habits—
- Pack a limited amount of comfortable, casual clothing that layer and coordinate. Your fellow travelers will not mind – or even notice – seeing you in the same clothing.
- Bring only two pairs of everyday shoes: one pair of well-broken-in walking shoes, and a second pair that could do double-duty as a walking shoe or a slightly dressy shoe.
- Pare down your beauty regimen to the bare minimum and always pack travel-sized toiletries.
- Pack medication in your carry-on and pack only as much as needed for the duration of your tour plus a few extra days as a precaution.
What are the luggage restrictions for this tour?
On every WTT tour, our policies regarding luggage restrictions are driven by the physical space limitations of the vehicles we use and the requirement that all travelers be able to manage their own belongings without assistance.
- It is best to travel as lightly as possible. Most travelers regret when they have packed too much.
- You may bring one suitcase plus small shoulder bag/day pack/purse.
- Maximum suitcase size: 25-inches in height as measured from the FLOOR to the top of the retracted handle. The small case in a 3-piece luggage set easily meets this requirement and should be plenty roomy for this length of trip.
- Suitcases larger than 25" in height will not fit in the WTT coach; don't bring them.
- The maximum weight of your suitcase should not exceed 30 pounds, as you will need to lift it into the coach luggage compartment.
- You are responsible for managing your own belongings. We expect you to take your belongings from the coach to your room and to bring it back to the coach and load it on days we change hotels. We do not provide luggage pulls; they are not safe and are inconvenient. The possibility of steps exist at most hotel entrances.
What are the health recommendations for this tour?
The standards for health and hygiene in Canada are excellent. You should practice the same hygiene rules as here in the US.
What are the phone and internet recommendations for this tour?
- Your US cell phone will work in Canada but most cell providers charge roaming fees. Be sure to check with your cell provider before leaving home to see what plans they may offer to reduce the cost of using your phone outside the US. Some providers offer Canada-only plans at reasonable rates.
How much money should I bring on this tour?
Only you can determine the optimum amount of cash to take on tour. When budgeting for out-of-pocket expenses, there are several aspects to consider: the number of meals you are responsible for, the amount of money you like to have on-hand for snacks and drinks, and your individual shopping interests and habits.
- Notify your credit card issuer that you will be traveling and provide dates of travel. Credit cards are widely accepted in Canada.
- ATMs are typically the best way of obtaining cash; they are found in most towns and cities. Canadian dollars can be withdrawn from any ATM. Use a debit card to avoid additional exchange fees.
- Canada’s official currency is the Canadian Dollar (CAD).
- Many places accept US dollars, however expect your change to be in CAD. It is better to exchange money at an official money exchange where you get a better rate than what local merchants provide.
What are the tipping guidelines for this tour?
All tips to local guides during your tour have already been paid on your behalf.
- You are responsible for tipping wait-staff, porters, or other individuals who provide a service to you at the hotel, or other public locations.
- You may want to tip your WTT Tour Leader for an outstanding job. The amount is entirely a personal preference. If you'd like a guideline, consider $8-$10 per day.
What other Additional Information do I need to know?
- Travelers are required to have a valid passport
- Passport cannot expire less than 6 months after your tour concludes
