(C) Niagara Falls and the Canadian Side
Plus Corning Glass & NY Finger Lakes
Spend a week enjoying the beauty of the parks and waterfalls in the Finger Lakes region of New York State and visit perhaps the most famous waterfall of all—Niagara Falls. Begin your tour exploring beautiful spectacular gorges carved by rushing water and capped with waterfalls. Then spend an afternoon in Corning—home to the Corning Museum of Glass, one of the most fascinating hands-on museums we know. We'll take in Niagara Falls from above, below and behind the falls, which includes a boat ride that takes you up close. Monday, 31 August 2020: Robert H. Treman State Park; Ithaca (B,L)
We leave Buffalo this morning and head for the Finger Lakes of Upstate New York. This area is famous for its waterfalls and gorges in addition to the beautiful lakes. Our destination is Robert H. Treman State Park and its scenic highlight, the rugged gorge called Enfield Glen. Enjoy a delightful stroll along a meandering stream that drops into the gorge, creating beautiful waterfalls, swimming holes and quiet eddies. After we've worked up a good appetite, we'll enjoy lunch together. We spend the night in Ithaca, home of Cornell University. Overnight Ithaca - 1 night
Tuesday, 01 September 2020: Watkins Glen State Park; Corning Museum of Glass (B,D)
About 30 minutes from Ithaca is Watkins Glen State Park, the most famous of the Finger Lakes parks with a reputation for leaving visitors spellbound. The glen's stream descends 400-feet through a narrow gorge generating 19 waterfalls along the way. There is a walking path that runs the length of the gorge. Many steps are involved but the beauty of the gorge is well worth the effort. We continue on to Corning to spend the afternoon at the Corning Museum of Glass. The museum is home to the world’s most comprehensive collection of glass—more than 45,000 glass objects, spanning 3,500 years of glass-making history. We love visiting the Corning Glass Museum and know you will too. Tonight, we will have dinner together. Overnight Corning - 1 night
Wednesday, 02 September 2020: Letchworth State Park; Glen Iris Inn; Niagara Falls, Ontario (B,L)
On our drive from Corning to Niagara Falls, we will visit Letchworth State Park and have lunch at the Glen Iris Inn, formerly the country home of William Letchworth. The Inn overlooks the Middle Falls on the Genessee River. Have your passport ready as we cross the border into Canada this afternoon and arrive in Niagara Falls, Ontario, where the remainder of the day and evening is at leisure. Overnight - Niagara Falls, Ontario - 3 nights
Thursday, 03 September 2020: Full Day at Niagara Falls (B)
We'll spend the entire day enjoying all the sights and sounds of Niagara Falls using our Niagara Falls Adventure Pass, a package of popular Niagara Parks attractions including the Hornblower Niagara Cruise, Journey Behind the Falls, White Water Walk and Niagara Fury. We'll stay together as a group for the first half of the day as we experience each of these activities, then have the afternoon free to wander about as you wish. There are platforms offering spectacular views of both the American and Horseshoe Falls, and underground walkways leading into observation rooms that give the illusion of being within the falling waters. The Adventure Pass also includes hop-on / hop-off transportation throughout Niagara Falls. Every evening at dusk, the falls are illuminated in color; it's a spectacular sight.
Friday, 04 September 2020: Niagara-on-the-Lake; Free Time; Farewell Dinner (B,D)
Enjoy a leisurely morning before departing for Niagara-on-the-Lake. Situated by the Niagara River and Lake Ontario, historic Niagara-on-the-Lake has Georgian and Victorian-styled buildings, a waterfront park and surrounding fields of grapevines. Enjoy your afternoon here by having lunch on your own and then taking a stroll down Queen Street with its colorful storefronts, carved facades and hanging flower baskets. The town is also home to the Shaw Festival, a rotating series of theatrical productions featuring the works of George Bernard Shaw and his contemporaries. Upon our return to Niagara Falls, we will get together for our Farewell Dinner.

What clothing and items should I pack for this trip?
Temperatures, rainfall and humidity levels vary based on the time of the year. At this time of year, daytime temperatures are typically in the 70s with lows of 50s at night. We suggest you monitor weather apps before you depart for the most current information. For worldwide travel weather refer to http://www.accuweather.com/en/world-weather.
For This Tour You May Want—
- One smart-casual outfit if you'd like to dress up a bit for dinners.
- Lightweight but warm jacket/sweater for the cool mornings and evenings or the unusually brisk day.
- Inexpensive rain poncho or travel umbrella, just in case!
- Bring what you need to get a good night's sleep, such as ear plugs, white noise generator, sleeping pills, etc. Unfamiliar noises of all types can disrupt your rest.
Good Packing Habits—
- Pack a limited amount of comfortable, casual clothing that layer and coordinate. Your fellow travelers will not mind or even notice – seeing you in the same clothing.
- Bring only two pairs of everyday shoes: one pair of well-broken-in walking shoes, and a second pair that could do double-duty as a walking shoe or a slightly dressy shoe.
- Pare down your beauty regimen to the bare minimum and always pack travel-sized toiletries.
- Pack medication in your carry-on and pack only as much as needed for the duration of your tour plus a few extra days as a precaution.
What are the luggage restrictions for this tour?
On every WTT tour, our policies regarding luggage restrictions are driven by the physical space limitations of the vehicles we use and the requirement that all travelers be able to manage their own belongings without assistance.
- It is best to travel as lightly as possible. Most travelers regret when they have packed too much.
- You may bring one suitcase plus small shoulder bag/day pack/purse.
- Maximum suitcase size: 25-inches in height as measured from the FLOOR to the top of the retracted handle. The small case in a 3-piece luggage set easily meets this requirement and should be plenty roomy for this length of trip.
- Suitcases larger than 25" in height will not fit in the WTT coach; don't bring them.
- The maximum weight of your suitcase should not exceed 30 pounds.
- You are responsible for managing your own belongings. We expect you to take your belongings from the coach to your room and to bring it back to the coach and load it on days we change hotels. We do not provide luggage pulls; they are not safe and are inconvenient. The possibility of steps exist at most hotel entrances.
What are the health recommendations for this tour?
The standards for health and hygiene in Canada are excellent.
What are the phone and internet recommendations for this tour?
- Your US cell phone will work in Canada but most cell providers charge roaming fees. Be sure to check with your cell provider before leaving home to see what plans they may offer to reduce the cost of using your phone outside the US. Some providers offer Canada-only plans at reasonable rates.
What are the electricity requirements for this tour?
Electricity and outlets are the same as those found in the United States.
How much money should I bring on this tour?
Only you can determine the optimum amount of cash to take on tour. When budgeting for out-of-pocket expenses, there are several aspects to consider: the number of meals you are responsible for, the amount of money you like to have on-hand for snacks and drinks, and your individual shopping interests and habits.
- Notify your credit card issuer that you will be traveling and provide dates of travel. Credit cards are widely accepted in Canada.
- ATMs are typically the best way of obtaining cash; they are found in most towns and cities. Canadian dollars can be withdrawn from any ATM. Use a debit card to avoid additional exchange fees.
- Canada’s official currency is the Canadian Dollar (CAD).
- Many places accept US dollars, however expect your change to be in CAD. It is better to exchange money at an official money exchange where you get a better rate than what local merchants provide.
What are the tipping guidelines for this tour?
All tips to local guides during your tour have already been paid on your behalf.
- You are responsible for tipping wait-staff, porters, or other individuals who provide a service to you at the hotel, or other public locations.
- You may want to tip your WTT Tour Leader for an outstanding job. The amount is entirely a personal preference. If you'd like a guideline, consider $7-$10 per day.
What other Additional Information do I need to know?
