Itinerary
Sunday, 05 April 2020: Arrive Miami International Airport; Welcome Dinner (D)
Schedule your arrival no later than 4:00pm and take local transportation to the hotel. The tour begins at 6:00pm in the lobby of the hotel. This evening we will get better acquainted during our Welcome Dinner and discuss the week's adventures ahead. Overnight Coral Gables - 2 nights
Monday, 06 April 2020: Everglades National Park; Airboat Ride (B)
After breakfast this morning we venture out into the Everglades, the country’s only subtropical preserve. The park is rich in bird life and is the only place in the world where alligators and crocodiles co-exist. We get oriented with a tram tour that takes us deep into the park where the scenery is spectacular and we're likely to see alligators in the wild. This afternoon, we climb aboard the swift airboats and fly across the surface of the water. What a blast!
Tuesday, 07 April 2020: Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens; Drive to Key West (B,L)
Today we pay a visit to the lovely Fairfield Botanical Gardens. Since 1938 this center has been dedicated to exploring, explaining and conserving the world of tropical plants. These unparalleled collections are now a resource of world significance. We then ease ourselves into "island time" by taking a leisurely drive south on the Overland Highway, one of America's truly spectacular road trips, ultimately arriving at "the end of the road" in Key West late this afternoon. Overnight Key West - 3 nights
Wednesday, 08 April 2020: Hemingway House; Hop On/Hop Off Trolley (B,D)
We start our day with a tour of the Hemingway House, nestled in the heart of Old Town Key West. From 1931-1940, American Nobel-winning author Ernest Hemingway lived in this lovely Spanish-Colonial house. After our visit we take advantage of the Hop-On / Hop-Off trolley to see other Key West points of interest such as Little White House, the vacation home of President Truman (entrance fee not included in tour price), and Southernmost Point, the well...southernmost point in the continental USA. Use your trolley pass all day or perhaps enjoy the pool area at the hotel. This evening we will regroup and have dinner together.
Thursday, 09 April 2020: Dry Tortugas National Park or Sailing Excursion or Free Day (B)
Today is all about choice, depending on your interest. You can enjoy a sail aboard a schooner or venture out aboard a ferry to Dry Tortugas National Park, situated about 70 miles west of Key West. The all-day Dry Tortugas excursion includes a boat ride to the park and free time while there to walk around or join a ranger talk. The boat leaves at 7:30am and returns at 5:00pm. The Sailing & Snorkel excursion departs at 10:00am and returns around 4:30pm. Snorkel gear, kayaks, fresh fruit and healthy snacks, soft drinks, water and an end-of-day beach happy hour with wine and beer are all included in this excursion. You have until Final Payment is due to make your choice. If you'd rather stay ground-bound, you can simply opt out of today's activity when you make your reservation. Enjoy your Free Day in Key West exploring, kayaking, or partaking in a myriad of other activities. Your WTT Tour Leader will have suggestions as to how to enjoy your day.
Friday, 10 April 2020: Return to Miami; Farewell Dinner (B,D)
This morning we have one last chance to see the sun rise over Key West before we enjoy the beautiful drive back along the island highway to Miami. This evening, after checking into our hotel, we will regroup for dinner together one last time. Overnight Coral Gables - 1 night
Saturday, 11 April 2020: Return Home from Miami (B)
Sadly, our time together has come to an end. Make your return flight at your convenience. Based on the departure time you provide WTT, your Tour Leader will organize travelers into small groups so you can ride-share to the airport if you wish. Cost of transport to the airport is not included.

What clothing and items should I pack for this trip?

For This Tour You May Want—
- Ear plugs as the airboat ride can be loud.
- One smart-casual outfit if you'd like to dress up a bit for dinners.
- Lightweight jacket/sweater for cooler evenings or the unusually brisk day.
- Swimsuit & Sunscreen - both hotels have pools.
- Insect repellent with DEET or Picaridin
- Bring what you need to get a good night's sleep, such as ear plugs, white noise generator, sleeping pills, etc. Unfamiliar noises of all types can disrupt your rest.
Good Packing Habits—
- As a best practice while traveling, bring disinfecting wipes and alcohol-based hand-sanitizer.
- Pack a limited amount of comfortable, casual clothing that layer and coordinate. Your fellow travelers will not mind or even notice – seeing you in the same clothing.
- Bring only two pairs of everyday shoes: one pair of well-broken-in walking shoes, and a second pair that could do double-duty as a walking shoe or a slightly dressy shoe.
- Pare down your beauty regimen to the bare minimum and always pack travel-sized toiletries.
- Pack medication in your carry-on and pack only as much as needed for the duration of your tour plus a few extra days as a precaution.
What are the luggage restrictions for this tour?
On every WTT tour, our policies regarding luggage restrictions are driven by the physical space limitations of the vehicles we use and the requirement that all travelers be able to manage their own belongings without assistance.
- It is best to travel as lightly as possible. Most travelers regret when they have packed too much.
- You may bring one suitcase plus small shoulder bag/day pack/purse.
- Maximum suitcase size: 25-inches in height as measured from the FLOOR to the top of the retracted handle. The small case in a 3-piece luggage set easily meets this requirement and should be plenty roomy for this length of trip.
- Suitcases larger than 25" in height will not fit in the WTT coach; don't bring them.
- The maximum weight of your suitcase should not exceed 30 pounds, as you will need to lift it into the coach luggage compartment.
- You are responsible for managing your own belongings. We expect you to take your belongings from the coach to your room and to bring it back to the coach and load it on days we change hotels. We do not provide luggage pulls; they are not safe and are inconvenient. The possibility of steps exist at most hotel entrances.
How much money should I bring on this tour?
Only you can determine the optimum amount of cash to take on tour. When budgeting for out-of-pocket expenses, there are several aspects to consider: the number of meals you are responsible for, the amount of money you like to have on-hand for snacks and drinks, and your individual shopping interests and habits.
- Notify your credit card issuer that you will be traveling and provide dates of travel.
- ATMs are typically the best way of obtaining cash; you must know your PIN number for your debit and credit cards in order to use the ATMs.
What are the tipping guidelines for this tour?
All tips to local guides during your tour have already been paid on your behalf.
- You are responsible for tipping wait-staff, porters, or other individuals who provide a service to you at the hotel, or other public locations.
- You may want to tip your WTT Tour Leader for an outstanding job. The amount is entirely a personal preference. If you'd like a guideline, consider $8-$10 per day.
