Tuesday, 23 July 2019: Vienna's House of Music; Board Ship (B,D)
Vienna has long been a musical epicenter. It was here that renowned composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn, Mahler and Strauss lived, composed and performed. So a trip to the House of Music (Haus der Musik) is a must during our time in the city. This small but fascinating museum showcases the works of Vienna's elite musicians with displays featuring manuscripts and sound bites. Exhibits also explain the evolution of sound and the mechanics behind our ability to hear. Plus, there's an entire floor dedicated to the Vienna Philharmonic where you can even use a virtual wand to conduct the musicians. We'll board the ship in early evening and after settling into our cabins, enjoy a welcome from our crew. Overnight Cruise Ship - 7 nights
Wednesday, 24 July 2019: Melk Abbey; Tour of Durnstein (B,L,D)
Today, the ship stops at Melk where we will explore the magnificent Benedictine Abbey, one of Europe's largest Baroque monasteries. This afternoon, the ship will sail through the Wachau Valley, one of the most beautiful stretches of the Danube. This area is dotted with castles, Gothic ruins and picturesque villages. When we arrive in Dürnstein, we'll take a tour of this charming medieval town. We'll return on board at the end of the afternoon and continue cruising toward Bratislava.
Thursday, 25 July 2019: Bratislava Tour; Afternoon Cruising (B,L,D)
This morning, we'll tour of Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. The Baroque palaces and the beautiful shaded squares add to the charm of this city. With a local guide, we'll explore the Old Town Hall, Mirbach Palace, and St. Martin's Cathedral. The afternoon will be spent cruising.
Friday, 26 July 2019: Puszta Horse Show; Cruising (B,L,D)
This morning we dock in Kaklocsa, which is dubbed the "paprika capital of the world." Today's excursion takes us to the Puszta, the Great Hungarian Plain to take in a traditional horse show where Hungarian cowboys demonstrate their equestrian skills. UNESCO declared part of the Puszta a World Heritage Site. The afternoon will be spent cruising toward Budapest, reaching it during the night.
Saturday, 27 July 2019: Budapest City Tour; Evening Entertainment (B,L,D)
Budapest was once two distinct cities united only in 1873. Buda, on one bank with its rolling hills and valleys, and Pest, on the other bank, with its flatter landscape offering a panoramic view over the banks of the Danube. Today, we'll enjoy a guided city tour that will include the second largest synagogue in the world, Heroes Square, the Opera, and the magnificent Parliament building. Tonight, we're in for a treat as we enjoy an evening of traditional entertainment.
Sunday, 28 July 2019: Esztergom, Birthplace of Hungary's First King; Cruising (B,L,D)
This morning, the ship arrives in Esztergom, Hungary, the first capital of the Kingdom of Hungary dating to the 10th century. The city's cathedral, Esztergom Basilica, is the largest church in Hungary. After free time to explore, we'll resume cruising. Tonight is our gala dinner on board.

What clothing and items should I pack for this trip?
In general this time of year, the temperature during the day is likely to be around 80 degrees, dropping to the low 60s at night.
For This Trip You Will Need—
- As part of this tour, we experience some dinners and an evening of entertainment where you will likely want to dress up.
- Travelers should consider covering bare shoulders with a wrap or a jacket/cardigan when visiting places of worship.
You May Also Want—
- Lightweight jacket/sweater for the cool mornings and evenings or the unusually brisk day.
- Inexpensive rain poncho or travel umbrella, just in case
- Bring what you need to get a good night's sleep, such as ear plugs, white noise generator, sleeping pills, etc. Unfamiliar noises of all types can disrupt your rest.
Good Packing Habits—
- Pack a limited amount of comfortable, casual clothing that layer and coordinate. Your fellow travelers will not mind or even notice – seeing you in the same clothing.
- Bring only two pairs of everyday shoes: one pair of well-broken-in walking shoes, and a second pair that could do double-duty as a walking shoe or a slightly dressy shoe.
- Pare down your beauty regimen to the bare minimum and always pack travel-sized toiletries.
- Pack medication in your carry-on and pack only as much as needed for the duration of your tour plus a few extra days as a precaution.
What are the luggage restrictions for this tour?
On every WTT tour, our policies regarding luggage restrictions are driven by the physical space limitations of our transportation and the requirement that all travelers be able to manage their own luggage.
- It is best to travel as lightly as possible. Most travelers regret when they have packed too much.
- We suggest you bring only one suitcase weighing no more than 50 lbs, plus a small shoulder bag/day pack or purse. There will be limited space in the transfer vehicles used. Additionally, suitcase storage space is limited in the ship's cabin.
- When not aboard ship, you will be responsible for managing your own luggage. We do not provide luggage pulls; they are not safe and are inconvenient. When departing the hotel for the cruise ship you will need to walk (approximately 5 minutes) with your luggage to the spot where the bus picks up.
- Steps exist at most hotel entrances. On occasion the coach must unload passengers and luggage some distance from the hotel entrance. This is typical in many European cities due to narrow streets and congestion.
- If you carry a purse, it should be able to be worn across your body, hands-free.
What are the phone and internet recommendations for this tour?
Only you can determine your need to stay in contact while traveling. Internet access is available in most hotels, sometimes for a fee.
- If you are bringing a cell phone, contact your cell phone service provider before departing about adding international calling and/or texting features. Texting internationally is often less expensive than placing a cell phone call.
- Learn how to make an international call BEFORE you leave. Consult your cell provider and check out the web site www.HowtoCallAbroad.com.
What are the electricity requirements for this tour?
How much money should I bring on this tour?
Only you can determine the optimum amount of cash to take on tour. When budgeting for out-of-pocket expenses, there are several aspects to consider: the number of meals you are responsible for, the amount of money you like to have on-hand for snacks and drinks, and your individual shopping interests and habits.
- Notify your credit card issuer that you will be traveling and provide dates of travel.
- Austria's official currency is the Euro. You may want to exchange $100 or so into local currency so you have cash upon arrival.
- ATMs are typically the best way of obtaining cash; they are found in most cities, as well as airport locations.
- There are no ATMS or currency exchange facilities onboard the cruise ship.
- All onboard incidentals are charged in Euro, and can be paid by either cash or credit card.
What are the tipping guidelines for this tour?
- You are not required to tip guides during shore excursions. However, if you feel you have received excellent service, a small tip is always appreciated.
- You are responsible for tipping wait-staff, porters or other individuals who provide service to you at the hotel or other public locations.
- You may want to tip your WTT Tour Leader for an outstanding job. The amount is entirely a personal preference. If you'd like a guideline, consider $5-$8 per day.
