The tour begins at the hotel at 5:30pm.

Wednesday, March 18: Arrive Savannah; Welcome Dinner
Welcome to Savannah. The tour will begin at the hotel. We will begin the tour
at
5:30pm in the lobby of our hotel. Once at the hotel relax or take a stroll around the area.
With its history, cobblestoned streets, old homes and beautiful gardens, Savannah is everything you think a southern city should be.
The WTT tour leader will have suggestions for your free time before we meet at
6:00pm for introductions and then depart for dinner together. (D)
Lodging:
The Marshall House - In 1851, The Marshall House was built as
the first hotel in Savannah. One-hundred-fifty years later, $12 million
was invested in its spectacular restoration. The award-winning results
are stunning, combining elegance and historical authenticity with a
jazzy and upbeat design. There is truly no place in Savannah like it.
Voted "Best of Savannah"
The Marshall House was named as a National Historic building on April 1,
2000 by The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation. The hotel has its
original staircases (some of the spindles and gingerbread have been
recreated), original wood floors, fireplaces, brick walls and the doors
to each guest room. The Atrium was the courtyard and has been encased
with a glass ceiling to give the sensation of what once was. The
artifacts displayed on floors two and three were found during the
renovation.
Thursday, March 19: City Tour; Riverboat Cruise
Today experience Savannah's rich history via a city tour that will help you understand the significance of the city's architectural layout, introduce you to the city's famous (and infamous) characters, and pass by beautiful homes dating back to before the Civil War.
Savannah is a river town, so what better way to get an overview of her harbor and port than to take a riverboat cruise.
This will be our afternoon activity after which you will have free time to explore
Savannah's historic waterfront area. River Street runs along the waterfront and has some of the city's best shopping and dining. (B)
Friday, March 20: The Golden Isles
Today we set off for St. Simon Island and Jekyll Island. Here we will see many lovely summer homes that have been restored to their original beauty. These summer cottages were the vacation homes of many early aristocrats. While on Jekyll Island we'll have lunch at the lovely Jekyll Island Hunt Club. What a perfect way to spend the day! We'll return to Savannah late in the day. (B,L)
Saturday, March 21: Full Day to explore Savannah
Today is yours to explore the town. Your tour leader will have suggestions for how to best use your day. The city has
many historic sites, museums, and parks and gardens for you to visit.
To relax between exploring, simply have a seat on a bench and take in the view of the trees and the houses and the people passing by. The best place to do that is on River Street or one of the 24 town squares.
We will gather together for dinner tonight and share our favorite
memories of Savannah. (B,D)
Sunday, March
22: Return home.
You have as much of today as you would like to enjoy more of what Savannah has to offer. Sleep in late or take a stroll along the river before departing for the airport at your convenience. (B)
